About

The multimedia project Kraftwerk was started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider.  They set up their electronic Kling Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, Germany, where they conceived and produced all Kraftwerk albums.  By the mid 1970’s Kraftwerk had achieved international recognition for their revolutionary electronic ssoundscapes and their musical experimentation with robotics and other technical innovations.  With their visions of the future, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack for the digital age of the 21st century.  Their compositions, using innovative techniques, synthetic voices and computerised rhythms, have had a major international influence across an entire range of music genres: from electro to hip hop, from techno to synthpop.

In their live performances, Kraftwerk – Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Fritz Hilpert,  Falk Grieffenhagen – illustrate their belief in the respective contributions of both man and machine.

Starting with the retrospective of their Catalogue at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2012, in recent years Kraftwerk have returned full circle back to their origins within the Düsseldorf art scene of the late Sixties. Bringing together music and perfomance art, their 3-D concerts are a true  "Gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art.”  The concert series at the MoMA was - among others - followed by further presentations at Tate Modern Turbine Hall in London, Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo, the Opera House in Sydney, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.

In 2014 Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honoured with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

    Electronic music pioneers

by Kev D on 7/2/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Everything was amazing. It was one for the books in Dallas. Kraftwerk are such a huge influence on Electronic music. If you are really into it and see them playing near you in the future. You need to go and experience in person no matter what the day is. The venue was amazing and the sound was nice. I wish they would book more Electronic music at Fair Park. Beautiful spaces in that area that could be use.

Amazing show, however the seats made dancing impossible

by Obnoxious on 7/1/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I give 5 stars because it was an amazing show, and because it's Kraftwerk! The only *real* issue was that no one(from what I could tell) was dancing. I was probably too close to tell, but only one guy in the very front had it and couldn't resist the urge and started dancing at the end. He went to the corner dancing so he wouldn't block anyone's view. There was plenty of room to dance at the Bomb Factory back in 2016 as it was just one giant pit and no seating. But paying for a seat to be so close up front was truly remarkable. The choice of venue may had something to do with the pandemic. Perhaps the anticipation was that everyone would of been required to wear a mask during the planning; it's a wild guess. One more thing: Venue communication was poor. Halsey was playing at the Dos Equis Pavilion, which is in the same park as the Music Hall. Digital signs and attendants were directing Kraftwerk ticket holders to the Hasley concert. For a while the Music Hall looked abandoned, and our party was a bit confused! Not to mention there was no way to contact the Music Hall for parking information or accurate start times prior to the event.

    Don't Miss It - Excellent Show !!

by Harv on 7/1/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I am not what you would call a huge Kraftwerk fan. Wasn't sure what to expect from this concert, but their performance exceeded my expectations by a mile. Their sound was exceptional , full bodied, powerful, and crystal clear. They sounded way better live than I ever recall the records sounding. The video aspect was very cool and completely unique. I've never experienced anything like this show. Very dynamic, entertaining, unique and above all.... enjoyable

    Iconic

by James N on 7/1/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Kraftwerk has been on my bucket list for a long, long time and I'm am beyond happy that I was able to see such an influential and iconic band at an equally iconic venue. Their set was amazing, the live remixes of classic Kraftwerk tracks was stellar, and the sound(!!!); the sound was crystal clear. Good sound shouldn't hurt your ears at high level and this was Good Sound! The 3D graphics helped immerse you into the show, and brought life to their otherwise keyboard sound. Don't miss this show if you're a fan of electronic music from New Wave to House and Hip Hop, they inspired everyone!!!

    excellent

by PeterG on 7/1/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I saw Kraftwerk last time in 1981 when they were the first Gig in the old opera house in Frankfurt, Germany. It was the best sound ever back then! This concert in 2022 was excellent and enjoyable. We set far up and the sound was good, but not spectacular. I think the ground level would have even better. Glad to see them in Texas after all these years! And no difference really without Schneider. Very good.

    A Bucket List Event Satisfied

by PixelChap67 on 7/1/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I've enjoyed listening to Kraftwerk since the late 70s and have always wanted to have the opportunity to finally see them live. The show was amazing. The only thing that was disappointing was that the visuals malfunctioned at the beginning and the opening song was just a dark screen. Other than that, phenomenal. Loved the cowboy hat on Henning at the end. Thank you Kraftwerk for opportunity to see you live!

    Kraftwerk Dallas

by Randy on 7/1/22Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

It took 48 years to finally catch Kraftwerk in concert. The sound and visual performance was impeccable. Have been a fan since I purchased Autobahn in 1974 as a teenager. Have invested in every subsequent recording since! In fact, I should be receiving a package set of Kraftwerk remixes today. Can't wait until I can get those on my 39 year old Linear Tracking turntable. MUSIC - NON STOP!

This concert was everything I thought it would be and more! The 3-D affects were all there. These engineers are legendary and I see why. The sound was so clear.

    Fabulous, wonderful, astounding!

by M. M. on 6/30/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

This band never fails to amaze me with how tight, inventive and joyful they are. I had such a great time watching/hearing/dancing with them, and watching as the audience was completely captivated by the aural tapestry they wove for us that night. Thank you, Kraftwerk, for all the years, all the music and all the joy!

You have to see them live / 3d from the side still visible

by michael nervOus on 6/30/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

I have had tickets 5 times in my life to see Kraftwerk and somehow I never got to see them until now. Worth the wait, just go, even if you are on the side or have a limited or slightly obstructed view the 3d still works.

    Great show!

by Ogre on 6/30/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

While our side-balcony seats were not ideal for watching the 3D projection, it was a great location to watch Kraftwerk operate their consoles. Audio in the Moody Theater had much more punch than when we saw them 7 years prior. Very sonically pleasing despite some mic troubles. Would go yet again!

Kraftwerk 3-D concert at the Met

by ionic on 6/28/22The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Having seen the show, Kraftwerk 3-D, Kraftwerk never, ever disappoints! Loved the show and the special light works were amazing. They even added tow new songs to the setlist and that was a special treat. They only issue I had was that it was not a all seated concert. the front of stage was standing only and when I paid for good seats, 7 rows back from the pit, I had trouble, at times, seeing the stage. other than that it was a great show.
