About

The multimedia project Kraftwerk was started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider.  They set up their electronic Kling Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, Germany, where they conceived and produced all Kraftwerk albums.  By the mid 1970’s Kraftwerk had achieved international recognition for their revolutionary electronic ssoundscapes and their musical experimentation with robotics and other technical innovations.  With their visions of the future, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack for the digital age of the 21st century.  Their compositions, using innovative techniques, synthetic voices and computerised rhythms, have had a major international influence across an entire range of music genres: from electro to hip hop, from techno to synthpop.

In their live performances, Kraftwerk – Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Fritz Hilpert,  Falk Grieffenhagen – illustrate their belief in the respective contributions of both man and machine.

Starting with the retrospective of their Catalogue at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2012, in recent years Kraftwerk have returned full circle back to their origins within the Düsseldorf art scene of the late Sixties. Bringing together music and perfomance art, their 3-D concerts are a true  "Gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art.”  The concert series at the MoMA was - among others - followed by further presentations at Tate Modern Turbine Hall in London, Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo, the Opera House in Sydney, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.

In 2014 Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honoured with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

    Fun, Fantastic, Futuristic

    by T. I. Anderson on 6/27/22Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Really loved this show. The performance of the band was amazing. I recommend anyone to see it as the show was one of a kind. The 3D effects were really fun. The music was fantastic. I am leaving off one star because while the Ryman Auditorium is historic, the seating is outdated and uncomfortable. Also I don't love it when they sell concessions during the show and dozens of people are always getting up, blocking the performance, etc. to get more snacks and drinks.

Great, Amazing Concert! I have been a fan since the early 70's. My two kids, ages 16 and 15 LOVED it and are now converts! Highly recommend catching this tour as it may be a while before they return to the U.S.

    Stellar

    by J. W. on 6/27/22Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Our first time at Ryman, and we had a blast! Everyone in attendance was there for the show, and you could feel it. Smaller venue made it even more cozy. Plus Kraftwerk nailed it; absolutely.

    Drunk people traffic.

by Euge65 on 6/26/22Radio City Music Hall - New York

Drunk people made hefty traffic in the aisles and in between the rows, walking back and forth for booze and in the toilet, blocking the view. Awful experience!

It was much more than I expected. I can’t even see 3D but the songs were so perfect! I’ve been playing ever since the show.

    Fantastic show!

    by D. H. on 6/23/22The Anthem - Washington

I was wondering what the show would be like given that all four guys are standing behind synthesizers. Then I found out that they pass out 3-D glasses before the show. The visuals were extremely good and brought the music to life. I highly recommend you see this concert.

    Electronic Music: The German Perspective

    by KP1 on 6/23/22The Anthem - Washington

I have been a fan of KRAFTWERK from the late 1970's into the extreme nightclub era of the 1980's; however, I had never seen them perform in person, and I must state for the record that KRAFTWERK was true to their OUTSTANDING music videos! I always enjoyed dancing to KRAFTWERK's music at nightclub & parties and it was a little upsetting that The Anthem did not provide enough space for those of Us who still wanted to "jam"! KRAFTWERK has taken the greatly criticized Dr. Moog, the originator of the MOOG Synthesizer, to a level that even Dr. Moog had never anticipated! It is now 2022 A.D. and KRAFTWERK is still making popular, electronic music! Wunderbar und Ganz Glück, KRAFTWERK!

Two years' wait - well worth it

by Dom on 6/23/22Radio City Music Hall - New York

I was originally going to see Kraftwerk in August of 2020. Since then, I have eagerly awaited the return of their tour. Seeing them perform was an amazing experience, and I would go again in a heartbeat.

    Great Venue

by Andy on 6/23/22The Anthem - Washington

Went with group of 10 and we all had a great time. No lines for drinks or to get in. Plenty of space between bar area and seats to congregate before the show. Acoustics, sound system, and visual effects were excellent. Kraftwerk were as expected - Outstanding! No complaints

Kraftwerk was great! The Anthem was not.

by ManMachine on 6/22/22The Anthem - Washington

Kraftwerk was great! But lighting in the Anthem prior to and after the show was horrible. It was almost totally dark, hours before the show. But worse was then all during the show, lighting on the sides of the seats by the aisle right next to us came on and went off, distracting you from the awesome video and lighting on the stage. I will never attend an event at the Anthem again.

    Incredible show as always!

by Jeff on 6/22/22The Anthem - Washington

What can be said about Kraftwerk? They are possibly the single most influential band of our lifetime. They inspired everyone from Joy Division to Afrika Bambatta to Cybotron. The 3D shows are awesome! Kraftwerk plays through all the hits you have listened to your whole life. Go see them before they no longer tour!

    Music and Dance Non-Stop

by Robotic Dancer on 6/22/22The Anthem - Washington

It was thoroughly enjoyable. We missed the first 15 minutes because we assumed there was a warm up band so we arrived late. We danced the whole time near the Anthem’s bar area. We were surprised that it was a completely seated show. Kraftwerk pioneered electronic dance music. We must dance!

Seriously all ages, with chest-thumping beats!

by J. Robb on 6/22/22The Anthem - Washington

I saw people with canes and 7 year-olds at the Kraftwerk 3D show at the Anthem! The venue was clean, just the right size and the 3D presentation and sound was top-notch! The staff was welcoming, kind and supportive! We parked just a couple of blocks away and had a easy walk to the venue. This is my second Kraftwerk concert in 35 years and I am looking forward to the next!
