Jim Messina and his band did a great job. Really enjoyed the first part when they played all the Loggins & Messina recognizable tunes. The second part of the concert had more instrumental music and new songs. Shoutout to the saxophone player who also played flute and drums! He was amazing and the audience loved him!

Jim Messina still got it!
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel
First set was a great mix of Loggins/Messina and Poco hits. Next set was a sampling of Messina's new songs with his band. Sound was phenomenal in the venue and Messina still has it all!

Still Got it
Saenger Theater Hattiesburg - Hattiesburg
Surprised at the small turnout for this concert but that was our gain and a loss for those who did not attend. Have been a fan of Messina’s music for many years and he and his fantastic band did not disappoint. Go see them if you get a chance.

Great concert!
Saenger Theater Hattiesburg - Hattiesburg
I feel so fortunate to have seen such great musicianship in a beautiful theater at a reasonable price. Jim Messina can still sing and play and his supporting band is tremendous. Most of the playlist comes from the Loggins and Messina days such as House at Pooh Corner, Danny's song, Your Mama Don't Dance, Holiday Hotel, and terrific long versions of Angry Eyes, and Trilogy: including Peace of Mind. Didn't hear much if any Buffalo Springfield or Poco. The big surprise is how good some of his newer stuff is such as Whispering Waters and others with jazz and Latin influence, which may be on his 2016 live album In The Groove. The supporting band is great with Jim Frazier on keyboard, Ben King on bass, Jack Bruno on drums, and Steve Nieves on sax, woodwinds like electric clarinet and flute, and various bells featuring terrific solos by each. We all need to see and support top professionals like this while they are still available.

Saenger Theater Hattiesburg - Hattiesburg
The Jim Messina concert at the Saenger Theatre in Hattiesburg, MS was a good one. I was knocked out by the band’s musicianship. Jim’s voice and guitar playing were spot on. And what a song writer he is. Jim was entertaining and had the audience join him in singing several songs. I enjoyed this concert more than I expected to and it was outstanding musically.

Outstanding Rock Performance
Avalon Theatre - Grand Junction
Friday evening's Jim Messina performance at the Avalon was the best rock performance this town has seen in years. The guy is 76 years old but still sings, plays guitar and leads a band of top-quality musicians like he did at the peak of his recording career. Very impressive! The saxophone player delivered the best sax performance I have ever seen - hands down. The selections Messina chose to play consisted of his best songwriting and recording history selections. All in all, the entire band played tight, loud and spot on. A big thank you to the entire band and Sandstone Productions for a raucous rock performance.
