The Cowboy Junkies were amazing!! The venue was nice but there wasn’t much leg room.
What beautiful music! I thought the venue was just right as well. We went with friends and hung out in the bar- best seat in the house! The music could lull a person to sleep at points. Her voice is so just right.
Well staffed and managed venue. The Band was far better than I anticipated they would be. Not being a traditional fan I had my reservations about what too expect from them. The singer was simply amazing on how she engaged the Audience with a warm, respectful and sharing demeanor. Her performance simply was far better then you could ever lookup and research about past performances or Videos from various sources. I actually bought the tickets on a whim for my wife after she told me many times how much she loved their trinity album while listening to them trying to put young babies to bed 25 years ago. Taking both of them with us to this show was truly a great true 5 star event for our family. Thank you Cowboy Junkies, The Neptune crew and STG.
Great to see and hear Cowboy Junkies after snow related cancellation in Feb. The crowd was really into the show as was the band into the crowd. Neptune Theater's acoustics are not the best; don't know what solution would be? That being said, overall a really pleasant evening.
OMG!!! Fantastic show! If you have not seen the Cowboy Junkies, I highly recommend it. The Event Center at Bethel Woods is a great, intimate venue for a concert,
Another heartfelt moving experience always amazing
Loved the show. Would have loved it more if Alan and Pete showed a bit of enthusiasm while on stage!
Very nice concert indeed.! My wife and I try to attend the Cowboy Junkies concerts as much as we are able.... but, alas, with two kids and both working full time etc... it can be hard to plan.. In any case, their music is the opposite of "background" music, and demands your attention, which is very nice, especially when you have the time :) Until next time.! I look forward to it :)
Great concert !! For a local place, The Birchmere can't be beat!!
I have loved the Cowboy Junkies since I heard the Trinity Sessions in the mid-80s. I have seen them several times in a variety of venues. I have also been to the Old Whaling Church for several concerts over two decades. I thought the combination of the band and the venue would be an excellent night out and a great way to redeem myself by taking my family who were still distrustfull of my musical taste from an embarrassingly awful Art Grufunkle self centered and talent-free concert last year at a different venue on Martha;s Vineyard. The combination did not work. The acoustics and the sound mixing were very uncomplimentary . The band was tight, talented and LOUD. Margo Timmins had her usual quiet, beautifully nuanced, subdued voice, but it was overcome and swallowed by the volume of the band. I could see some band members trying to signal the sound control folks to make adjustments, but it never improved. My family may never go to a concert with me again. I will listen with pleasure to Margot's voice on recordings, but, sadly, their live performances are not something I will seek out. Disappointing.
I left before the end, having heard only one song from the era when Margo Timmins dazzled. The miking was so bad I rarely understood a word of the lyrics and often couldn’t hear her. The alleged “old”material was not old at all, except for “200 miles”. Seems like she can still sing, and the band and engneer should have let her.
From their first song till their last the Cowboy Junkies kept the audience spellbound with the beauty of their music. Margo's voice filled the hall with rich textures as the band played each song with tempo and grace. Sweet Jane and Blue Moon felt like you were wrapped in a warm blanket of sounds. The blending of blues and country along with Margo's voice in the intimate setting at Sellersville created a one of a kind experience for all.
Great band. Great venue. Great to see both still kicking after all these years.
The venue was small and the acoustics are set up for theater performances. The Junkies as expected put on a great show. I have seen them at several other small venues like Kent High School and have never been disappointed. I have turned all of my friends and family on to them over the last 20+ years and they now have more fans because of it. The good is more success for the band, the bad is tickets are going up. I would still recommend any one who hasn't seen a show with them to get on it. You'll be hooked too. Being the last show on the tour merchandise wasn't available for purchase. I needed a new shirt. My old one from the last tour is worn out.
They were very entertaining for the evening. Margo's voice was so beautiful and the band played with sensation. The whole group is amazingly talented with their instrumental playing abilities. However, this is not a market where people want to hear their B-side tracks. Most people in this region really only know their biggest hit titled "Sweet Jane." That's the only song to get radio play around here on Alternative Radio Stations that were existent back in the 90's. Margot had made commentary she was flattered to be hosted in a venue that had a history of so many great artists. That comment lost all of its credibility when the fans were shouting for the group to perform " Sweet Jane," and the band failed to play that song. The band left the building at the end of their performance and I witnessed some of the other spectators vocally questioning "That's it?" I paid for my admission to the show. I had a level of expectation that they would play their most popular songs from their best selling album. In New York City and the surrounding area, there are many free public shows that artists don't charge people to attend. I feel that those artists have a right to perform whatever they want out of their hit songs because it's a free public show.. I feel that I was ripped off by the Cowboy Junkies. This is very painful for me to write because the Trinity Session is one of my favorite musical albums of all time.
Inside show so we stood right next to the stage, awesome being that close. She played a few familiar songs, but mostly lesser know stuff. The band and her were great played a couple neil young songs too.
Drove over an hour to see the show and worth every mile traveled. Margot's voice was spot on. I wondered at one point if the show was recorded until her voice wavered just once very slightly. Man that woman can sing! The band played perfectly. The audience was just a little too well behaved for my taste. I like a little more energy at a show.
Great music. I have been waiting a long ti me to see them and wasn't disappointed. As well as having a great voice, Margot was a hoot. I like the first tune. ' F' I hate the cold. Its set the tone for the evening. Thank you.
We sat front row and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Margo has a great voice and her sense of humor also infused the show. The instrumentals were terrific.
