    All around great

    by Mb on 7/26/23

Great band, great venue. Easy to get to plenty of parking. Although at $15 it Would be nice if there was a public transit option. Really nice venue including reasonable concession prices compared to some and plenty of options so small lines Great sound, lots of space but still felt intimate.

    Very disappointed!!

    by MKV on 7/26/23

Great venue with comfortable seating and great sound. Disappointing set list. Except for playing Sweet Jane, the group appeared to be there only to promote their new album. Saw lots of people leave early just as we did!!

    Mailing It In

    by Grover867 on 7/26/23

Five years ago at North Park Observatory, the Junkies put on one of the best shows ever. This time? Low energy and boring. They just went through the motions. They seemed tired and depressed from being on the road, from their father’s struggles, from their new mediocre album. Margo’s voice was breathy, often sharp. She read lyrics from a notebook, at times missing a line. No genuine connection to the music or the audience. And they all seemed to know it. Very disappointing show.

The Cowboys need a faster horse

    by Alex on 7/26/23

The band took a long break after only 30 minutes. What? The tunes were all doleful and downbeat. Very fine musicians who need some verve. Disappointing overall.

    Better than ever

    by Junkies junky on 7/26/23

T’was a lovely evening with Cowboy Junkies introducing their latest album. The venue was welcoming with good security, easy (extra cost) parking, and very good sound. The audience was mostly respectful and quiet but loud with appreciation. This is a really talented band that hypnotizes with their swirling music crowned by Margo’s beautiful voice.

    In love with this band!!

    by TracyK on 7/18/23

This band never disappoints. The venue (Neptune Theater) is small and the singer was very personable. She chatted and had cute stories throughout the concert, which made it feel like we were in someone's house our back yard or something. This band played for 3 hours!! Loved it!! They just get better and better!!

    Once again…..

    by CJFan on 7/17/23

Love Cowboy Junkies. If Margot Timmons sang pages out of the phone book, I’d buy the CD. Second time seeing them at Neptune which is a great venue for Cowboy Junkies

Margo and the band sounding great

    by Ona on 7/17/23

Love the intimate Neptune theater venue and Margo’s beautiful voice, the great lyrics of the songs. From my seat, Margo’s voice was drowned out by the guitar and drums so difficult to really hear the lyrics or her lovely voice.

by Lisa on 5/11/23Birchmere - Alexandria

The Cowboy Junkies always deliver! And The Birchmere is a great venue to see them. It’s comfortable, the food and drinks are solid, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

    Great Live Performance

by Jim on 5/11/23Birchmere - Alexandria

I discovered this group during covid and fell in love with their music. What a great experience to see them live. To be in a small setting like the Birchmere for this group was perfect. The group was more than what I expected; I was no more than 50 feet from the stage. The group played both old and new material. Their lead singer just keeps getting better with age. Particular praise to the Birchmere. I was a new patron, and all employees made me feel welcome. Their entry system, food, wait staff and checkout all worked and made the concert more enjoyable. Waiting for another reason to attend an event at the Birchmere.

    Dependably Wonderful

by Reston Ralph on 5/11/23Birchmere - Alexandria

Cowboy Junkies are tied (with Los Lobos) as the most overlooked, underrated band in North America. They continue to crank out great albums (~28 now). Michael Timmins the main song writer and lead guitarist is brilliant at both. Sister Margo has one of the most unique (and soothing) voices in R&R, and brother Peter (drums) and Alan Anton (bass) comprise one of the best rhythm sections in R&R. Jeff Bird fills in on many instruments and shares lead guitar. The Birchmere is the perfect place to listen to CJ's laid back to toe-tapping crunchers. The audience is knowledgable and respectful. The venue is run like a Swiss watch and the sound quality is near the top in the DC area. You might call CJ's music "rock on quaaludes." I call it brilliant, original, and diverse. Don't miss a chance to see them anywhere, but the Birchmere if you can. 10 out of 10.

    An Evening with Cowboy Junkies

by RAD on 7/22/22Avalon Theatre - Grand Junction

I had been out of town for a couple weeks and was lucky to hear about their appearance appearance at the Avalon theatre and found some good tickets left at a reasonable price, a rarity these days! The group played some new material which was quite good and moved on to some of their classics; Blue Moon, Sweet Jane. Margo’s voice is as hypnotizing as ever!!!
