HARRY CONNICK, JR.
Harry Connick, Jr.’s career has exemplified excellence across multiple platforms in the entertainment world over the past three decades. He has received Grammy and Emmy awards as well as Tony nominations for his live and recorded musical performances, his achievements in film and television and his appearances on Broadway as both an actor and a composer. Connick continues to establish himself as a best-selling musician, singer, composer, and a legendary live performer with millions of recordings sold around the world.
The foundation of Connick’s art is the music of his native New Orleans, where he began performing as a pianist and vocalist at the age of five. Highlights of his music career include several multi-platinum recordings such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “Blue Light, Red Light (Someone’s There)”, “When My Heart Finds Christmas,” “Come By Me, and “Only You.” His debut album on legendary Verve Records, his new label home, titled True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter was released in 2019 and which coincided with performances on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre in a show he wrote and directed: Harry Connick, Jr.- A Celebration of Cole Porter honoring the musical achievements of one of America’s most respected songwriters, Cole Porter. In 2020 as the country entered the pandemic lockdown, he retreated to his home studio and emerged with an album of songs of faith and inspiration. ALONE WITH MY FAITH, released during the spring of 2021 displays the sheer breadth of Connick’s talents as he wrote new songs, arranged all songs, played every instrument, and sang every voice.
Connick has appeared in 20 feature films with actors such as Sandra Bullock, Hilary Swank, Renée Zellweger, Sigourney Weaver, and Morgan Freeman. His work on television includes starring roles on Will and Grace, South Pacific and American Idol. He recently hosted the CBS Special UNITED WE SING: A GRAMMY® TRIBUTE TO THE UNSUNG HEROES, honoring essential workers in the pandemic. In 2016, he launched Harry, a national daytime television show, which earned 11 Daytime Emmy nominations, including nominations for best host, and a Critics’ Choice nomination for best talk show. On Broadway, Connick received Tony nominations as both a lead actor in The Pajama Game and as a composer/lyricist for Thou Shalt Not.
Despite his busy career, Connick has always found the time to be charitable and has done some of his most important work in his efforts to help New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He, along with friend Branford Marsalis, conceived of “Musicians’ Village,” and its centerpiece the Ellis Marsalis Center. Musicians’ Village provides homes for Katrina-displaced musicians while the Center uses music as its focal point of a holistic strategy to deliver a broad range of services to underserved children, youth and musicians from neighborhoods battling poverty and social injustice.
Connick’s honors, including a star on the celebrated Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the 2019 class of Honorees, induction into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, Honorary Doctorates from Tulane and Loyola Universities and the Jefferson Award for Public Service, have not led Harry Connick, Jr. to slow his creative pace; they only confirm his determination to apply his talents in ways that prove inspirational to other artists and publicly spirited citizens.
This man is the ultimate performer!! We loved his show. Terrific voice, great sense of humor, obviously SO handsome! Don't miss this, you will be sorry!!!!
Great show! Although he has an awesome band, we would have preferred fewer instrumental solos and more singing by Harry!!
He put on a fantastic concert. I'll see him when he comes again!!!
Harry was fantastic! He and his musicians were awesome. The sound was the best I've ever heard, no doubt Harry had something to do with that. It was in your face, from the softest notes of his voice, to the blare of the horns. Engaging performance! BRAVO!
I loved every second of the show! Harry is a natural born showman and it was evident how happy he was to be there! I enjoyed the more intimate setting of the theater!
Harry proves once again to be the coolest, most incredibly talented pianist, vocalist, band leading entertainer of this time. Can’t say enough about his band members on brass, string, and percussion. The whole audience left on a jazzy Christmas high!
Fantastic intimate experience with HC Jr, he took a ride through some of his classic songs and multiple Christmas albums. He showed great charisma on stage and recognized his band members multiple times, he’s so talented and just a class act. Unfortunately the SD Civic Center needs a complete overhaul, very outdated and the seats are on top of each other.
From beginning to end it was an incredible show.. the piano playing, the entire band, Harry's jokes, the different musical selections he chose. It was just a joyous experience and put me in the holiday mood!!
The performance was fabulous from the moment it began. Harry is so charismatic and over the top talented. His band carefully orchestrated every song. A tribute to Harry to have one of his band members be with him for 25 years. 2 hour high energy show with no intermission. A great way to celebrate tge holiday.
120 minutes of pure entertainment and joy! Harry and his band are amazing! We loved every second!
Great way to begin the Christmas season of great music! Loved Harry’s interaction with the crowd! Wish I’d have gotten tickets sooner - sold out - my hubby & I had seats in separate rows
No one exudes musicality like Harry Connick Jr. The best band you'll ever hear, and he features his soloists really well. A great combination of Christmas theme songs with great arrangements. Must experience!
I have loved this man and his music forever! Finally got to see him for my 57th birthday. His presence, his humor, his stories, his voice, his love of family, his hands, his music, the musicians, and his gorgeous smile, incredible. It was an unforgettable evening that made my heart smile, my body move, and mind get lost in song.
Harry Connick was absolutely fantastic!! This is our 4th time seeing him and he is as entertaining as ALWAYS! He seems to really love the audience and interacts throughout the whole show. What a wonderful entertainer.
Entry into Centenial Hall was easy. Harry put on a fabulous show!
I am a band director, with a Jazz band. I saw Harry in my hometown, Tucson, AZ, in 2004 and now, at his return, in 2022. Mr. Connick is HANDS-DOWN, the best Jazz pianist, composer and singer, alive. His band/strings are impeccable as well. Bravo!!!
Like the combination of Christmas songs and jazz I will see him again
Harry was very good. Sang lots of Christmas / love songs. Played the piano (and other instruments) exceptionally well. Very funny/entertaining, even ad libbing with the audience. Shared some very personal and heartwarming stories. Band was great, loved the drummer. Was a little disappointed in the song selection. Realize that he's debuting songs from his new album, but wanted to hear more traditional songs.
He is a master musician, playing piano and a new instrument with precision and spirit, always singing in perfect pitch. His fellow musicians were also wonderful! It was an energetic performance and could not have been more fun!
Harry Connick is the ultimate performer. We saw him in Centenial Hall, Tucson and from the moment he casually strolled on stage to his final encore, everything was perfection. (Btw, he started right on time, so don't be late). He is also an incredible musician. His piano solos are entrancing. Beautiful voice and great rapport with the audience. Loved that he shared about his Dad and other family stories. Nice mix of Christmas songs and other songs. Dreamy version of It Had to Be You. Also his band (huge horn section!!!) was amazing, so many talented musicians. I've always been a HC fan, but this was my first time seeing him in person. Definitely won't be my last.
