Timeless story wonderfully updated. Music and songs are terrific and beautifully performed. I think the characters are a bit two dimensional and could use s bit of life breathed into them, which is the only negative thing I can say about the show.
Like my seats in row 11. It wasn't really a box but was still great. No one in front of me. Very powerful show. Liked the fact that the staff enforced the mask requirement.
Who knew an evening in the underworld would prove so heavenly! "Hadestown" in Chicago was an absolute delight with a strong cast, excellent production values and inventive retelling of an ancient myth. The actors, singers, dancers and musicians were totally amazing and the costumes, lighting, set and choreography excellent. While familiarity with the Orpheus story was helpful, even those new to the tale appeared to enjoy the show. This performance was definitely worth the trip.
This performance was amazing! The performances of the cast and band were beyond sensational - and just give all the awards to that lighting crew!
The show was great. Our seats were higher up in the balcony, but it didn't matter. We had a perfect view of everything happening! The performances were amazing, the songs were wonderful and the all over experience couldn't have been better. Masks were required and the front-of-house staff was very strict on that front. I appreciated that! Souvenirs were available, the theater itself was cozy but comfortable, and it was just a great experience out!
Really enjoyed the show. The only obstacle was the low ceilings, which caused the view to be limited. Other than that, it was great.
I don't even know where to start! The vocals, the music, the energy... absolutely one of the best live performances I have ever seen. I had listened to the sound track a few times, but seeing it live brings so much more to the story. You don't need to know Greek mythology, as the narrrator (Hermes) takes the audience through the story scene by scene. The lyrics are so important, and it is one of the few shows I've seen where the lyrics were crystal clear, even in the chorus parts. The ensemble's chemistry is amazing, and the staging/tech is equally as amazing. 10/10 recommend you go see it wherever it is playing!

I’m a pretty avid musical fan, and I’d say this show is one of the best musicals out there. And this production is stunning. There isn’t an element that isn’t top notch. Lighting, costuming, staging, choreo, sets are all excellent. The cast and musicians are phenomenal.
The performance was excellent!!! I took my daughter, daughter-in-law and 3 of my granddaughters to the show and they all enjoyed it and thought that it was SO GOOD!
it was not worth to sit over 2 hours with a mask. Anytime there is cast diversity, everyone hypes a production more than they should. The singing was great, the music great, but it was just ok.
Hadestown is a fantastic musical. Energetic and fun, sad and wistful, it was 2 hours of pure bliss. Cast and crew are outstanding and it is fun to have the band on stage as part of the action. The CIBC Theater however is a different story. It is woefully inadequate. Restrooms are only found in the basement which makes an intermission trip essentially impossible. But what is worse, in my opinion, is how flat the levels are. We were in Row B of the Dress Circle and there was a person directly in front of me (as opposed to staggered). If I didn't lean left or right, I could only see the very edges of the stage. Given how expensive going to a musical can be, we will definitely think twice about attending another show at CIBC.
Loved everything about this show from the staging, music and actors. Well worth the ticket price!
Holy cow was I not prepared for just how good this touring company was going to be. The cast was spectacular, and we ended up having an understudy for Eurydice who absolutely brought the house down. Don’t worry about seeing the main cast just get your ticket, you won’t regret it!
