COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE.
Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always. Intertwining two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — HADESTOWN is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
I went to this show not knowing much about it. Amazing, moving… there really aren’t words for how amazing this production and cast were!
The show was amazing. Between the lighting, the music, the stage, and the acting, the musical was one unforgettable.
Hades was the best. That deep voice was mesmerizing. The story is just a great one. Definitely worth seeing again.
Most of the performers were excellent, sound & lighting very good! I am very disappointed in the seats. First time to CIBC theater and I reserved early with AMEX & paid for premium seats first row of mezzanine. The site gave no indication I would literally miss 1/3 of the show with lighting and sound system blocking right side stage in its entirety!!
Loved this musical! Creative & witty. Touches on political issues. Loved the variety of voices especially the deep base of two of the main characters. Can’t wait to see it again.
We saw the show in New York and this traveling show was the same caliber in Chicago. Cast and musicians were amazing entertainers, and the show is top notch overall. Staff at the theater were kind an accommodating. The only really disappointing part of this experience is the necessity to purchase Suite service for $45 each with the seats from CIBC. We had to do this with Hamilton as well and it is a complete rip off. A few Hors d'oeuvres and tiny drinks. By the time you stand in line you might get a tiny nugget of food and drink. Bathroom line in suite just as time consuming as regular line outside of suite. I try to avoid this theater at all costs bc of this revenue rip off. You cannot book the seats you want without purchasing this option.
Hadestown is simply amazing. I had heard some great comments about the show and was intrigued to check it for myself, but I was NOT ready for it at all. It gave me chills, it made me cry. The cast was amazing, the way the stage noves and adapts was out of this world. I will recommend this show to anyone who appreciates musicals, it’s a must see for sure!
Saw it in Cincinnati and so impressed with it, traveled to Chicago to see it and share the experience with friends.
Amazing staging So happy to finally see Hadestown!
Saw the production in NYC with the original cast and worried this would not stand up in comparison - no worries - it did!
Absolutely fabulous show. The music was fun, the voices were amazing. Hades voice was especially spectacular. I can’t find a bad thing to say about the show. I think it was the best shows I’ve ever been to. Sorry to see that at all you will be here for a short period of time. Would love to bring others to see it with me again.
Nathan Lee Graham was an absolute dream as well as the rest of the cast. I was in tears towards the end. The music tugging at my heart strings. I was passing kleenex down my row. One of the best shows I have seen this year.
The singers were so over-mic-ed it was distracting. I left at intermission because I just couldn’t enjoy it.
from the vocals to the dancing, with such a small cast it was hard to look away and i love every second!
I was especially pleased with how the book and music managed to put a positive spin on the Orpheus and Eurydice story, since we all know that movie doesn't end well. ;) Top-notch cast from top to bottom!
The show and performers were amazing! The music was amazing! I've been wanting to see it for years, so I was glad I could go. If you can see it - you should. The Chicago theater is beautiful too. But the theater experience wasn't amazing. I paid way too much to only be able to see about 1/4 of the stage. I was sitting right behind a pillar and so much of the stage was blocked for me and others. It was incredibly disappointing. If the seats were cheap, I'd understand. But they weren't. The most expensive part of our trip, and all I got to do was stare at a pillar.
So happy I was able to see this for the short window the cast was in Chicago. highly recommend!
I couldn't be any happier than I am with Hadestown. The venue was gorgeous. The people checking vaccination status, IDs and tickets were efficient and friendly. A shout out to the elevator operator! She is truly a gem! The musical incredible; the cast phenomenal and so very talented! I was so sucked into the story that even though I knew Orpheus would look back, I audibly gasped when it happened. I was amazed with the set design and how the moving circles could convey not only motion but a connection to what was happening. I wish I had the words to describe how beautiful it was and thankful I am to be able to share it with my daughter. It was a night I will not forget. BTW.....When Persephone visits up top, I would be willing to take her place beside Hades. What a handsome man and that voice!!!!!
This was my 3rd play I was blessed to see, 1 in NYC and 2 at your theater. While the other 2 were amazing, HADESTOWN made me fall in love!!! The CAST, the characters, the music and the scenery, THE TRAIN DOORS! Everything was amazing!! THANKYOU!!
Great show. Excellent cast. Fantastic music. Thankful to get to see it.
