The venue was great, our seats were great, so I had high expectations for the show. It did not disappoint! The singing was outstanding and the energy that exuded from the stage could not be believed. Run, don't walk, to see this show while it is in Chicago!

This was my second time seeing The Color Purple and this time appears to be better than the last! It's a well put together, thought provoking production. The singing is PHENOMENAL!! The show has something for everyone! I recommend The Color Purple musical as a show one should see at least once in a lifetime!
From beginning to end this musical was amazing and my 1st after so many years being in a musical .
I laughed, I cried, I tried to sing along...great actors with amazing voices. Even tho I knew the story from the book and movie, the show was a wonderful surprise.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Color Purple Play. Would definitely see again. All of the cast did an excellent job!

Stage play is great tell your friends about this play it’s so good
The Color Purple is a great story brought to life on the stage. The performers did a beautiful job and are very talented. We thoroughly enjoyed the songs. As for the production, we were underwhelmed. There was not one single set change which was extremely disappointing. We are regular theatre goers and have come to expect some intriguing sets that grab your interest and add to the overall feel. It was so disappointing that the set never changed when there were countless opportunities for it to do so. Even mid-scale theatre productions change their sets, let alone a pre-Broadway play. The sets really need to be enhanced and the costumes were just okay. It left more to be desired because the songs and the strong performances from the cast can go only so far. You come to expect better sets and costumes to complement the production. We left disappointed.
I’ve seen 4 productions of The Color Purple, never were the lead & ensemble talent so well matched. Unforgettable!!
I was filled with a ball of emotions! It was hilarious, sad, inspiring and the voices were so on point! I would most definitely see again and recommend a friend!

If you are a lover of gospel music, tight and perfect melodic harmonies, and good storytelling, then you must see The Color Purple. The casting director did an excellent job of selecting actors who can not only act but also have beautiful voices. You will not be disappointed.
The production was beyond perfect. I felt like I was watching a real life story because all the actors portrayed their characters very very well. Thank you!
I've seen a LOT of theater in my 44 years, and this show was definitely in my top 10 of all time. I cannot say enough about The Color Purple! Who would have thought that you would laugh your butt off with a story line like this? But I absolutely did, along with shedding some tears. The music was beautiful, and I found myself wanting to clap during the gospel scenes. The actors have AMAZING voices. And the storyline went beyond the movie, and resolved itself beautifully. I left feeling refreshed, empowered, encouraged and with a huge smile on my face. I not only immediately went to Spotify to listen to the music, but I loved it SO much I'm going for a second time. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
The performers were amazing - incredible voices. It was a sad story at times but very lively at the same time. I would highly recommend this show.
