This show was simply amazing....I had been looking forward to seeing this show for a long time. I was in awe from the time the actors took the stage until the very end. The Auditorium Theater is a BEAUTIFUL venue for a show.
The show was very good. Audience loved the singing and the voices are magnificent. Would definitely recommend seeing this production.
It was truly a fabulous production. This cast could be on Broadway in lead roles without question.

The talent was over the top. I really enjoyed the total production. It was a packed house on a Tuesday evening. I was in Row T which were some very good seats. I had seen some time ago but really enjoyed even better.
The staging with a minimalist set was great. The cast voices were amazing, however there were many times I could not understand what they were singing. I know the story very well, so I had an idea of the message they were conveying, but for someone less familiar with book or movie (my guest), it left some gaps in the storytelling.
The acting alone was superb......the sing was beyond beautiful.
The show was so good. I forgot my glasses, but we had great seats. I was worried with no Jennifer Hudson or Cynthia E, but the ladies in this show were phenomenal! I with I had money to take my mother and see it again.
The play and the performance was awesome! The sound mix however was awful. I could hardly hear the music. It sounded like the musicians were under the stage with no microphones. Very disappointing and I won't go to this theatre again.
I would see it a million more times if I could. It's worth every single penny.

A very inspirational story with a full spectrum of emotion. The cast is undoubtedly one of the most talented.
Exceptional performance from beginning to end. The singing was unforgettable. The passion each performer displayed was brilliant.
A couple great songs and a couple good performance moments, but some very bad artistic decisions made for a mediocre production overall.
I loved every moment of 'The Color Purple', at times I had to hold back tears. The cast worked incredibly hard and so effortlessly at the same time. My only critique is that there were a few moments where the pit was overpowering the voices.
If you enjoyed the book/movie you will love this musical. Well acted, beautiful voices, and strong woman theme. Highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the story line which will make it easier to understand from the start. I had a hard time understanding the words to songs which was one drawback. Not sure if it was the acoustics of the Auditorium Theater which is a huge venue or maybe the energy of the music kind of drowned out the words. But, not a deal breaker. Great show and especially for the Buy One Get One deal!
From start to finish, this musical was absolutely FANTASTIC! I laughed, I cried, and laughed and cried some more. It was clean, fresh and amazingly professional! We splurged on box seats - well worth it!
I don't even know where to begin. The acting was flawless, the singing on pitch the entire time, and the overall delivery of everything was so filled with passion! This is the first show I've been to where I spent almost $300 for 2 tickets, and I would do it again. It was well worth the money. I've been talking about the show nonstop to my friends. I hope I get to see the performers in their future endeavors because every single one of them was a star on that stage.
