About

HAMILTON is the story of America then, told by America now.  Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre--a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, HAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow's acclaimed biography. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

    Hamilton in Boston

by KNMG on 2/21/23Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

I was blown away by the performance. Superb choreography, amazing staging, and incredible music presented by a dynamic cast. History brought to life through theater succeeds in giving the life of Hamilton the importance he deserves. I had seen the taped version on a streaming service and I have to say, that performance pales in comparison to what we experienced Saturday evening. Bravo

    Magnificent Musical

by Happygrandmaga on 2/21/23Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

Everything about Hamilton was magnificent - the cast, singing, choreography, characters, their lines - wish I could see it again. My favorite character was King George as he was hilarious each of the 4 times he was on stage! The lead actor had an incredible amount of lines. I don’t know how he did it plus he was an understudy and he played the part seamlessly! He and all of the others were exceptional!!

AMAZING (one point knocked off for venue)

by Jazzy on 2/21/23Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

This show was fantastic! The acting, singing, everything!!! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is for the venue. We weren’t told that we needed our tickets to step out for some air during intermission. One of us had the tickets and that person was in the VERY long bathroom line, which didn’t have any service so by the time she was done, intermission was over. Had we been informed beforehand we’d have been prepared. There was also people next to us who wouldn’t stop Talking and I wish the ushers would have approached them.

There were 9 of us in our group from ages 7 to 67 and we all loved the show...the music, the acting, the lyrics, the scenery, the venue. A masterful play done masterfully!

    by TNWOLF13 on 2/20/23Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

I am not a fan of musicals, at all. This show was for my wife. But I will say that for what it was, it was excellent. Talented actors and great choreography. My wife was in heaven.

Lack luster performance - extremely disappointing

by CG17 on 2/19/23Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

In November, my husband and I attended Hamilton on Broadway. We were absolutely blown away, brought to tears, given chills and raved about it to anyone and everyone willing to listen. The performers gave it their all, showed incredible passion on a random Saturday afternoon and clearly were dedicated to their job, talent, and audience. We went in to this performance in Boston with high hopes, but were left incredibly disappointed. The music was rushed, the performers seemed very behind the music, often detracting from the songs they were singing. The ensemble showed no passion, but rather looked like they were just trying to get through the night. While I know these performers do this show day in and day out, Broadway performances— or shows of this caliber — require the same level of dedication on the stage in every single performance. Audience members pay top dollar — sometimes saving for months to fulfill a dream to see a show like this. To be so disappointed during a show like Hamilton is quite the let down. We ended up leaving shortly after intermission as it just kept getting worse and worse. Many on the cast are switching out in a couple of days and we can only hope for those audience members with tickets for the remaining shows of the tour that this next cast will show more dedication and passion on the stage. We do appreciate art and the incredible talent it takes to perform on that stage, so it isn’t to detract from that — but this just should have been so much better. If there was an issue with sound tech, that should have been worked out weeks ago, not over a month into the tour. If you’re considering seeing Hamilton (as you should), make the trip to New York instead and see the show how it is meant to be.

    Worth it!

    by Jaymar911 on 2/18/23Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

I had not seen Hamilton. I was familiar with it, and I knew a few songs. My daughter is a theatre junkie. Hamilton tickets were her surprise Christmas present. The tickets were expensive but they were so WORTH IT!!

    Good show

by Bets on 2/18/23Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

As always, really enjoyed the music and dance! There were some real standouts, like Lafayette/Jefferson, King George, and the sisters, but i was disappointed in the young man who played Hamilton. I had a lot of trouble hearing him, and he seemed rather boring in the role. He had assume his moments, but overall I was disappointed in his performance. But i would still recommend the show!

Fantastic experience, from the staging, singing, dancing, lyrics, musical dexterity, costumes and more. Never a dull moment and I even learned about our nation's history. A tour de force. So much talent in every nook and cranny.

    Loved this

    by Ballerina56 on 2/18/23Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

The show was superb. It met and exceeded all my expectations. Tennessee Theatre was very organized and getting to our seats was easy. I had a seat with limited view so missed a lot of things on stage right, but still enjoyed the show very much. I would see it again.

    Good but not great

by Lizzie on 2/18/23Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

First off, our seats were wonderful so no complaints there. What I liked: The choreography and the words to the songs. Some of the singers were much better than others and my one thought during this performance, perhaps it would have been better to see the original cast. From the clapping that was all around me, I believe I am in the minority but I just was not wowed.
