ST. PAUL AND THE BROKEN BONES IN CONCERT:

St. Paul and the Broken Bones bring a youthful enthusiasm to their flashback sound, reviving Southern soul right down to the matching suits each band member wears. Lead singer Paul Janeway tears through each song with unbridled passion, swaying to the rhythm as he skillfully navigates each crescendo and vocal trill. The band adds smooth basslines, banging drums, and blaring horns to breathe life into each soulful serenade and rocking rhythm. Ticket buyers won’t be able to resist each classic style this sextet plays, from pumped-up dancefloor anthems like “Call Me” to gracefully building gospel ballads such as “Like a Mighty River”. Anyone with a funky bone in their body will dig the old school vibes and undeniable grooves of St. Paul and the Broken Bones in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Paul Janeway was studying to become an accountant in 2012, having finally resigned to “make something of himself” when soul music called his name. Rekindling a few old connections, he started St. Paul and the Broken Bones with several Birmingham, AL musicians. The first time they played together was to record a four song EP in 2013, forming an immediate and undeniable chemistry in the studio. After signing with Single Lock Records, the group released their critically praised debut Half the City. The album caught the attention of The Rolling Stones, who hired the soulful sextet to open for them on their 2015 Zip Codes Tour. While they work on their second full-length album, St. Paul and the Broken Bones continue to use their winning blend of gospel and soul to electrify audiences who can’t get enough.

    Great Show

by Tmikeb on 9/29/23Old National Centre - Indianapolis

You can always count on an energetic and entertaining show by St Paul and the Broken Bones. The band was fantastic as was Paul. We were very entertained by the opening act, Abraham Alexander. His mix of songs and storytelling was excellent. His life story is uplifting. The do need to add family or handicap rest rooms on the main level of this venue.

If these guys come to town and you don't check them out, you'll be sorry. I've seen them at three different venues, and they always blow my mind.

    Great show, too crowded.

    by BK on 8/28/23

The show was absolutely fantastic as it put a big venue artists into an intimate setting and they scored big time! The space did however seem overbooked as it was jam packed, wall to wall, with only 2 bartenders.

Show was great, delay was not

by Fournote on 4/25/23The Lyric Theatre - Birmingham

When a show is scheduled as late as 8pm there really doesn't need to be an opening act. After an opening band which sang too long then the time required to reconfigure the stage, it was well over an hour till the St. Paul show started. Getting out at 11pm I think is just too late. I think the crowd would have been happier if St. Paul had started at 8pm. Other than that, the show was great.

A Fabulous Show From The Homeboys!

by R. J. Head on 4/25/23The Lyric Theatre - Birmingham

I've never seen a blues/soul act IN MY LIFE whip out a cello, base, and three violins in the middle of the show, play about half a dozen tunes, and then hop right back on the rails and knock an audience out the way Paul Janeway AND The Broken Bones did Saturday night at The Lyric in Birmingham, AL. LOVED IT.

Great venue, great band, outstanding voice

by GGwalrus on 4/25/23The Lyric Theatre - Birmingham

The evening did not disappoint. It was my first time at The Lyric and to see St. Paul live. Before the show I walked around and sat in various seats just to get a feel for upcoming shows……there is not a bad seat in the house! SPBB sang numerous songs from their new album…….the highlight for me was Marigold. Was also great to be in their first show at The Lyric………next stop The Nick!!

    Best live!!!!

    by Molldoll on 3/12/23

They legit left it all on the stage!! The lead singer is in falsetto the entire time while this huge band of horns, keyboards, drums, and soft sounds party hard on the stage. Their live show is seductive and a life changer!

    Spectacular!

by Sam on 2/12/23Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

St. Paul and the Broken Bones are better live than their wonderful recorded music. The show was fantastic. Rhett Madison was an inappropriate opening act. Her music is depressing and boring. SPBB deserve a better show partner —- maybe more in line with their genre.

Perfect Venue for a Superb Concert

by thebeachisgud on 10/16/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

We've been a fan of St. Paul... since watching his Tiny Desk Concert online from 2014, but this is the first time seeing him perform live. WOW! WOW! (and glad he's lost those gold shoes, LOL). The performance exceeded all expectations (and they were rather high, as we know he's a special talent). First, his opening act--Jeremie Albino--deserves props. We would go see him and his group on their own (would be fabulous at an outdoor festival). VERY talented. THEN, SP&tBBs rocked the house--from R&B/Blues/Soul and heartfelt ballads, we were smitten. FABULOUS talent accompanied him. We could single out each and every one...but OH those HORNS!! He's got great stage presence ("the moves") and such a warm personality. Very engaging and WELL worth our drive and overnight stay. If they perform near you, DO go see them. You will be wowed.
