About

LAKE STREET DIVE:

Hailed by Rolling Stone as the year's  "best new band" upon the 2014 release of album Bad Self Portraits, Lake Street Dive have made a big impression with their creative brand of soul pop. Anchored by the honey-toned vocals of conservatory-trained frontwoman Rachel Price, the band's breezy, indie-inflected tunes are nothing if not confident, reflecting the training and virtuoso musicianship of the band's talented members. Lake Street Dive impressed the pants off of Ellen Degeneres performing live on her show in 2014, building excitement among fans for their upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in 2004 by a group of students at Boston's New England Conservatory of Music, Lake Street Dive started out as a country act before settling on the jazz-inspired soul pop they're known for today. They self-released their 2006 debut album In This Episode... with the winnings they took home from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, self-releasing sophomore album Promises, Promises the following year. In 2010, they signed with Signature Sounds Recordings for their self-titled third album, a strong collection of songs that hinted at the heaps of praise their sixth album Bad Self Portraits would receive upon its early-2014 release.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Lake Street Dive put on an amazing show! The lead singer's voice is unbelievable and the band as a whole is fantastic. Lots of energy, great interaction with the crowd."

"Very cool band. What a voice! Well-written songs, with some fantastic cover songs sprinkled in."

"They sound great live! The musicians and the vocalist are extremely talented and they play well together. Eclectic mix of styles is fun."

Last Day on the tour w/Lake Street Dive

by DrDreRN on 10/17/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Such a fun and talented band to see live. A bit less energy then their June 2022 concert earlier this year in Boston, where they rocked the house all night long. The sound at the Oakland Fox theater was not so great. I was a bit disappointed in the sound system- the bass drum overpowered many songs with an unpleasant booming. Lake Street Dive is an incredibly skilled and experienced band. The sound issue and the lower energy level made this show a bit less then stellar. I will continue to see them live, but will consider the venue each time.

    Great Music But Terrible Sound

by jmuns on 10/17/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

We really love Lake Street Dive and also were very taken with the warm-up act. But the entire evening was dampened considerably by the unbelievably and unnecessarily loud bass. We had seats in the forth row of the Loge, right on the center aisle. I would really expect the sound to be pretty good But the bass was so loud that the rest of the music was drowned out all night. I'm not sure if this was an issue of the venue, the sound engineers, or intent on the part of the bands. I'm not complaining about the loudness; loud doesn't bother me. But balance is important and the bass was ridiculously overpowering. I might attend another event at this venue just to see if this was a one-off but it won't be my first choice. It's a beautiful place and I expected the evening to be delightful but I'm sorry to say, it was ruined for me by the sound.

Lake Street Dive - Great Show

by Reggie on 10/17/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The band is tight and really good, the only complaint was the bass sound (not the bassist sound) was to heavy and tended to drown out the singing. but still a great show.

    Venue too large???

by LSD addict8 on 10/16/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Seeing LSD again (first time post-McDuck) was awesome. Their sound is’tight’—a little too tight and they didn’t seem to be having much fun. They were overly amplified which made the experience somatically oppressive—so loud that their exquisite lyricism and charm was lost. Their sound filled the rafters but their special spirit didn’t feel the heart. I wanted their presence to be felt to the back of the hall, but it fell short. Maybe the Fox venue is too large? AND, that said, I can’t wait to hear them again in the SF Bay Area. Thanks and lots of love ❤️.

90 minutes of Rachel Price and the group was sublime..5stars

    by Rich405 on 10/16/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Opening act was mediocre and cumbersome to watch. Way too much Bass...building was vibrating, which does not add anything pleasant to the show. Still wore earplugs for LSD, which backed off the bass a bit.

Disappointed by sound and light design

by Oakland Guy on 10/16/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I sat mid-balcony. Some of the stage lighting flashed directly into my face. The concert sounded like it was being blasted by a cheap PA system at 100 dB. Any subtlety in the music was lost, even using Adaptive Transparency Mode on AirPod Pro 2 earbuds, which reduced peaks to 85dB or so without otherwise shaping the sound. Given these deficiencies, I can't provide a rating of the actual performances.

    Poor sound quality

by LSD Fan on 10/16/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

It was disappointing that the set up of the sound system prevented full enjoyment of the concert. The volume of the instruments (specifically the bass and drums) was such that it overwhelmed Rachel Price's vocals. The bass volume was so high that it felt as if I was sitting on a subwoofer. The acoustics of the microphones was also of poor quality. I still don't know the name of the band who were the opening act since I could not understand the lead singer when he introduced them, and could not understand most of what he was singing when he was performing. Lake Street Dive is so good, that it is very disappointing that the venue did not do a better job for them as far as sound quality is concerned.

    Lake Street Dive

by KtsGurl on 10/14/22Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

The Orpheum is so beautiful, however I did find the acoustics in to be very base heavy. The first act (which he never announced his name when he started, nor was it on the ticket who the opener was) played and they were great, but the singer was drowned out I found because the base was so loud. You really had to strain to listen to the words. Lake Street Dive is amazing and when she sang with no instruments in the background, it brought me to tears. It was a great show!

    LOVE Lake Street

    by K. S. on 10/12/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Such a talented and entertaining band! Paramount was a great venue for them although I wish more people stood up earlier to dance. Love Lake Street Dive and the Paramount. Easy in and out of venue.

    What a fun show!

by JC on 10/12/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

The band was in top form and they played most of their hits. The big surprise was the number of covers they did. Apparently they have a new album of cover tunes. All were good with their own stylistic spin on them. All in all a very ejoyable evening

    Loved the energy

by BluesDogg on 10/12/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Amazing, talented band. Been waiting to see them for a couple years and they did not disappoint! Love their chemistry and the amazing upbeat energy they share with the audience. Love the Paramount Theatre as well. Such a beautiful and fun venue. Only downside is the crazy expensive drink prices.

    Top Notch

by JRod on 10/12/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Incredibly fun and powerful performance by a group that clearly knows and cares for one another. I only wish that the seats were removed for a dance floor!
