EDM fans have spoken, and veteran Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren is their king. As one of the most popular trance DJs in the world, Van Buuren has topped DJ Magazine's fan poll a record five times, virtually dominating dance music with his unprecedented run at the top of the list from 2007-2010. Following the 2013 release of his fifth album Intense, Van Buuren is once again entrancing fans around the world with his prismatic live shows on the 2014 Armen Only: Intense tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Leiden, Netherlands, Armin Van Buuren began DJing while at university, eventually putting his law degree on hold to pursue music full time. He made his first UK chart appearance at just 19 with "Blue Fear," climbing the charts again several years later with "Communication." By 2001, Van Buuren's marathon sets had earned him a spot on DJ Magazine's Top-100 list, setting the stage for the launch of his hugely popular State of Trance radio show. While his skills as a producer were highlighted on his 2003 full-length debut 76, it was 2008's Imagine that really broke the mold — the album peaked at No. 1 in the Netherlands, a first for a dance music artist in Dutch music history.

    First time seeing Armin. I thought he might have been overrated and was afraid the show would not live up to the hype, but boy was I wrong. By far one of the top 2 sets I've heard live; considering I have watched over 50 shows by different DJs so far, that definitely says something. He did what he wanted and however he wanted to.

    Hes simply the best. Great venue for a rave. Vax cards were checked but masks werent enforced. Security was top notch and very verbal. Id definitely go again

    The concert was amazing. I love the venue. The COVID check was a joke though. I could have shown them my shopping list and they would not have cared bc no one looked. I was there early too so there were no lines and no reason for them not to take the time to actually look that you had your vaccine card or negative test. It gave a false sense of security.

    Armin van Buuren is on his way to turning the world into a dance floor! This concert at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago was preceded by an opening group of DJs. Armin came on stage almost 2 hours after the start time and played for 2 hours 15 minutes. The venue was packed and thankfullly Covid vaccination status was verified for all concertgoers. His show was pure electricity with thunderous bass, colorful lights, smoke, lasers, confetti and a giant visual screen behind him. He DJ'd nonstop without a single pause in the music, transitioning masterfully between songs. He opened with Sirius and ended with Blah Blah Blah, with tons of EDM and trance hits in between. The crowd was dancing like crazy and everyone was having the time of their lives. I am still replaying my recordings of the show to relive the moment. I can't wait to see Armin Van Buuren again!

    Amazing performance, opening act was good, and Aragon was as classy as ever. Armin Van Buuren is a legend and we felt honored to see him. Highly recommend one of his shows if you get the chance!

    In terms of the crowd he got a full house. I’ve never been to one of his past performances and was very excited, and definitely was not disappointed. Best light show i’ve ever seen. cannot wait till he comes back again!

    There was simply too many people in the building, could not move. People touching you on all sides at the same time. Could not meet up with friends because it was too packed. Had to be against fire code. Other than that is was great. Music was awesome could turn the bass up a little more though. As always armin put on a great show. We need a indoor venue that can actually handle all the big names in raleigh, maybe one day someone will build one.

    His last show he had live dancers, live singers that sang for longer than 1 minute, and a drum line. He literally just spun records for over an hour. Just watching him hop up and down and put his hands in the air now and then .. compared to live performers ... No. the LED DJ booth was trick, very cool, interesting, but it takes more than that to put on an extraordinary Armin show.

    The balance tour is one of Armin's best sets. The only thing that could beat it is Armin Only events. It was fun and cool.

    the show was great. the sound was great. I love the energy. I kind of felt like the concert was a little long. but when a concert is to short we complain. so there than that it was great. Aside from the concert, ticketmaster was not helpful at all. I tried calling them but there was no number to reach you at. when I try ti do the chat online help. it said no one was there to help too. I am glad I got my tickets and I made it to the concert.
