Arizona Coyotes History

Before they were the Arizona Coyotes, this franchise — a founding member of the World Hockey Association — was originally based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and began playing in 1972 as the Jets. The early team made headlines before the season even started after signing hockey star Bobby Hull from the Chicago Blackhawks. The Jets went on to be one of the best teams in the league, winning three titles from 1976 to 1979.

The WHA merged with the NHL before the 1979-1980 season, but the Jets were unable to maintain their dominance and the franchise was relocated to Arizona before the 1996-1997 season; they became known as the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes subsequently qualified for the postseason in each of their first four seasons and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky became a minority owner of the team in 2000 and their head coach in 2005.

After filing bankruptcy in 2009, the team was later purchased by the NHL. Despite the tumultuous seasons, the Coyotes won 50 games during the 2009-2010 season. In the 2011-2012 season, they won their first division title in franchise history. In 2013, the NHL sold the team and its name was changed to the Arizona Coyotes in 2014. Since 1997, the Coyotes have made it to the playoffs a total of nine times.

    Coyotes tickets with children

by Wizniak on 3/8/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

Really enjoyed the game my son(19 months old) loved it all the cheerleaders and event staff were very friendly towards him and us, one thing i would say is there was a group of 6 drummers that were located one section from us and were constantly drumming evertime something major happened and my son was a little scared by the noise at a couple points during the game. These drummers werent just fans i believe they were part of the staff and would just drum at every game. Like i said we really enjoyed the game and everyone was great but when booking tickets it would be great if there was a little write up about how this section was quite abit louder than the rest of the rink and maybe not as child friendly for the noise

ASU workers take their jobs way too serious

by Glen on 3/1/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

From measuring my wife's clutch down to the half inch to qualify it's ok, to the Nazi girl outside constantly getting the people into lines was over the top. Besides the coyotes losing, which I almost expected, the food was good, the seats were great

    Awesome Time!!!

by ehalgary on 2/22/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

The opportunity to see a "Big Four" sport in a 5,000 seat arena was amazing. There isn't a bad seat in the house (Mullett Arena). As a bonus, the game went into overtime.

    Amazing bday seat!

by dabbers on 1/15/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

First time at the Mullet Arena and it was great! I didn't realize that where my seat was located had it's own private section. It was a great time! The facilities were clean and the arena was easy to maneuver through. Also enjoyed receiving the free beanie at the game.

    Coyotes vs.Pittsburg

by Bradley on 1/13/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

We were disappointed that you can't take a purse past a certain size into the event. We had to walk back 4 blocks to take it to the car. Perhaps it should be stated " only wallet size purses allowed ". Also something that would be helpful for others going into the venue, it should state it is a cashless venue. Only credit cards or debit cards.

    Lower the Price

by Bob k on 1/11/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

For a venue with 4k seats for a pro hockey game. Seems like you have to be well off to buy a ticket. They couldn’t even sell out with one of the most popular franchises in hockey. Think it comes down to ticket prices. With this being in a new area this year. You need to create a new fanbase.

    Coyotes Leafs Game

by TK on 1/2/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

Generally very positive but 2 issues. First, it wasn't made clear that the seats we purchased were bleachers. Second, music was DEAFENING. Apple watch gave a reading of 109 decibels. Even the Leaf coach commented on the volume in the post game interview.

    No Pucking Problems!

by Georgie on 1/1/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

The use of the Ticketmaster mobile app was a breeze! Our tickets and parking passes transferred to our mobile wallet with ease. From the first drop of the puck to the last goal, we had a fantastic time! The parking and arena staff were all kind and professional, and the fans were (almost) as respectful too! And so, we THANK YOU!

    A remarkable evening

by Will on 1/1/23Mullett Arena - Tempe

No matter what team you cheer for ASU’s Mullett Arena is an amazing experience for any hockey fan. I highly recommend catching as many games here as you can during this transition for AZ. The energy is unheard of and there is not a bad seat in the house. I can’t wait to go back.

Nice intimate location. Easy to get too. More food concessions the. I would have thought. Prepaid for parking makes it easier. Tons of parking. Good crowd. No crazies. Would go back again. Only issue easts. It padded.

    Small intimate venue

by Sfan on 12/20/22Mullett Arena - Tempe

The venue is small and highly overpriced for tickets. Seats were comfortable, staff was courteous and strictly enforced the puck in play regulation which was greatly appreciated. The standing area behind was a little annoying as the men behind us the more they drank the louder their conversations became and they talked every second of the game.
