  • Annie was great for the whole family!

We really enjoyed the show and found the music and acting to be wonderful.

  • Flawless Production of Annie

by EdwardJohn on 1/2/10ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Every aspect of this show (staging, choreography, music, lights, set, etc.) were seemingly perfect. The way that they can have such a large scale set with a touring show is above me. Each cast member played there parts to the T. Standout performers for me were: Ms. Hanigan (Lynn Andrews) and Annie (Madison Kerth) although all other performers were nearly equally fantastic. The sad part was, the night I attended the seating was quite empty. So please go support the Annie National Tour and see the Gammage Production in its last days, it won't dissapoint!

The girl playing Annie is a bit weak with her acting/stage presence. She does fine with the "stand on this mark and look cute" kind of kid acting, but I expected more from a Broadway cast. She does sing well (while standing on her mark counting beats with the orchestra). The other little girls are pretty solid and have more personality. Molly is a standout. The adult cast is quite strong. There are many talented individuals who bring their characters and the music to life. Overall, it's a fun show.

This was the first time bringing my family to see a play at the Gammage and we all really enjoyed it. The sets were great and the singing was wonderful. I especially loved the comedy that was put in to it. I am so glad I went and picked this to be my families first experience with theater!!!!

  • A wonderful evening at "Annie"

Over the years we have seen Annie a few times, but this time was the first time with our 10 year old granddaughter. What a wonderful experience to see one of our favorite plays through her eyes! She loved it. . We've always liked the concept of Toby's.....the buffet before the show, the actors serving as waiters, and the intimacy of theater in the round. The food was excellent and and the play superb. We had a great time.

  • came home & bought tickets for the next show

Their choice for Miss Hannigan was too heavy, her hair was upsetting & when she wasn't overacting, she was being an attention hog. BUT, everything else about this show was wonderful! They started RIGHT on time, so I missed the first 15 minutes & came home to find that the tickets were still 10$ off, @ which time I bought 5 seats for the next show.

  • Show is memorable!

From the beautiful drops and sets on stage to the wonderful live orchestra, "Annie" provided the perfect ending to the holiday season and a new hope for the coming new year. From what we have learned from the very inspiring show, we've got to hang on because the sun will come out tomorrow. And for Annie, it's only a day away! The show is worth your money!

  • Mediocre at best

by Obaasima on 12/31/09ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 2 out of 5

I was expecting much more from this musical, as I was in Annie as a child and have fond memories of playing a troublesome NY school child in Scene 6, Act 1. Unfortunately, I think the acting for this musical was mediocre at best, and the best acting came from the dog, Sandy. I wish I could write a better review for this musical as I had such high hopes for it.

  • Annie was amazing

by Mellsbells on 12/31/09ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

AMAZING!!! As a 37 year old, I was going to relive the Carol Burnett movie, and I was pleasantly surprised!!! It is the same, but different. I thought the cast was superb, very well cast, Annie was the BEST, poor thing even had the hiccups and powered on thru them to sing her heart out. The orphans were so darn cute, everyone was great!!! I did miss some of the songs from the movie, there's no "We got Annie" or "Let's go to the movies" but it was still VERY good!!!

Annie was amazing! I have always loved the movie and now that I have seen the broadway show I am truly amazed! If you are someone who loves music and entertainment I highly recommend seeing Annie. I have seen a few shows at the Creative Arts Center and Annie was my favorite by far.

  • Let me go back to my childhood

    by honest25 on 12/30/09ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 4 out of 5

I saw this movie when I was little. I took two of my daughters this time and it was awesome! I am 34 now; yet all the songs gave me the strength, hope and optimism about lives. One problem was the time of the show... Due to the parking issue, I was told to be there at least an hour before. The show ended after 10pm. I have 5 and 4 year old girls. They were both TIRED! My youngest fell asleep. My oldest was a half asleep toward the end. This musical is really good for younger children and I saw many children that came to the show. I wanted it to be a little more kids friendly.

We traveled from Calfornia to Arizona to see Annie opening night. It was a treat for my daughters 4th birthday and she loves Annie. The production was wonderful! She enjoyed every moment of Annie. The actors did a surperb job! I would see the production again. I loved how fast and easily the scenes changed on stage. The entire thing was a delight and very well done. Excellent! I would recommend to all.

  • Annie was average

by Soozerita on 12/30/09ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

Lynn Andrews stole the show playing a strong-voiced and thoroughly entertaining Mrs. Hannigan. Traci Bair as Grace Farrell should stick to opera...she sang it way over the top. David Barton's Oliver Warbucks was a tad shy of great. And Madison Kerth, although strong in the high ranges, couldn't belt out the lower notes. Sandy, the dog, got more applause than most of the humans. I'd say save your money and rent the video starring Albert Finney and Carol Burnett.

  • We got Annie!!!

This show was FANTASTIC!!!! The music and the cast were just wonderful and it brought back so many cherished memories from my childhood for both me and my family.

  • Fantastic!

by AvianaKooi on 12/30/09ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

The play was perfectly casted, I can not even pinpoint which character was my favorite because everyone lived up the expectations I had for the play. It was my daughter's first experience at a professional play and she left saying that she wanted to be in a play, just like the young girl who played "Annie!" Neither one of us wanted the play to end so to me, that is the best compliment we could give to the cast!

  • Mrs. Hannigan was awesome!

by KevinSad on 12/30/09ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

I had previously seen Annie on Broadway and was amazed. I purchased tickets to take my Mother and Son who had not previously seen the play. I was dissappointed. When little girls are upstaged by a dog it says quite a bit about the performance. The characters that stand out were Mrs. Hanigan, the Secretary, and the youngest orphan. The singing was exceptional by the entire cast! It felt like the actor's were doing their performance for their 100th time versus their first! It seemed stale?! I saw several members of the audience sleeping :(
