About

ANI DIFRANCO IN CONCERT:

Alt-rock powerhouse and feminist icon Ani DiFranco continues to be a symbol of activism through music, pulling no punches with her socially conscious songwriting more than 20 years after her debut. At her inspiring live shows DiFranco gives it her all, delivering her unfiltered lyrics with a raw emotionalism that perfectly complements her polished guitar playing. From classics like "Shameless" to newer material like "Whose Side Are You On?", DiFranco covers a wide selection of favorites on her latest tour, never failing to have a blast in the process.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Buffalo, NY, DiFranco was a precocious young talent, performing Beatles covers in local bars as early as age nine. Just a few years later she was playing original material in coffee shops, and by age 15 she had moved out of her mother's house to live in her own apartment as an emancipated minor. At age 18 she started her own record company Righteous Records, releasing her self-titled debut album on the label the following year. Over the next two decades DiFranco released a new album nearly every year, touring extensively and earning several Grammy nominations including a Best Contemporary Folk Album nod for 2000's Fellow Workers. Back on the road for her latest tour, the ever-prolific talent will treat fans to never-before-heard material from her upcoming album.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Ani Difranco's performance was truly unforgettable. She changed guitars for every song and even changed some of the acoustics for a few songs. Her voice was even better live!"

"She plays so hard and with such precision. It's like watching the Cirque du Soleil, you see it with your own eyes and you still wonder if it's possible. She's so ceaselessly generous and friendly."

"Her vocals and energy are off the charts. She's funny, engaging and smart. We had a great time. A good mix of the old classics and a couple of brand new ones."

    Missed Her!!

by Terre on 10/18/22Madison Theater - Covington

Everything was great!! Love the upgrade to Madison Theater (it used to be one of my least favorites!)... not a bad "seat", bathrooms were clean, service was perfect everywhere. And the show was phenomenal. Thank you!

    Ani D

by Milo on 10/16/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - Kalamazoo

Ani’s performance was exactly on. No disappointment when she takes the stage. Look forward to seeing her next time. This show had the added bonus for me bringing 13 year old daughter, new fan in her and the old man sitting next to her didn’t embarrass her.

    Faboulous Fantastic Night. Intimate venue

by RC on 10/11/22Liberty Hall - Lawrence

I had not seen Ani in about 22 years. I always loved her, but hadn't kept up with her more recent work. Didn't know if she would still have "it" Completely unfounded. Yes she got IT! Lovely music and singing. She doesn't seem to age at all. Very intimate venue and beautiful evening. Fantastic show

    DiFranco was Awesome. Venue wasn't.

    by M on 10/11/22Liberty Hall - Lawrence

Ani DiFranco was amazing as always. Liberty Hall had a speaker that needs to be fixed, replaced, or unplugged. It was buzzing so bad at times i couldn't make out lyrics. Also the balcony seating was very tight, making it physically uncomfortable. I suspect the historic theater's seating is not up to code.

    Unbelievably amazing

by Tanya on 10/11/22Liberty Hall - Lawrence

Ani DiFranco is so talented and so fantastic. She's a great performer, sounds just like her albums, and adds in fun connection by speaking and visiting with the audience. Her ability to connect is so cool and her music is just the best. LOVE, love, love her so much.

    Amazing Amazing Amazing

by Jessica W on 10/10/22The Pageant - St Louis

If you’ve never seen an Ani show, you’re missing out. One of the best live performers I’ve ever seen paired with the best fan base in music. I never miss I chance to see her, and she’s always even better than I remembered or expected. Joyful, poignant, funky, emotional, funny, informative, spontaneous, beautiful.

    Great Show

by Mike on 10/10/22The Pageant - St Louis

Good opening act and even better headliner. The Pageant is my favorite place to see a show. Ani is a great performer with just right amount of conversation to go along with her music. This is the my second time seeing her. I would see her again.

    Phenomenal Bucket List experience

by Jenzie on 10/10/22The Pageant - St Louis

I have loved this woman since early 90’s and have not been able to make it work until this weekend. She brought great energy and there was a lot of excitement. I just feel incredibly blessed to finally mark this on off my bucket list!

The greatest folk music review ever!

by Sarahkgist on 10/10/22The Pageant - St Louis

First off the Paegent is like the best venue in town. Small and intimate. And Ani never disappoints. She plays so well to the audience you feel like your just hanging out sharing some good music.

    Back the the Battle Line

by Righteous Beauty on 10/7/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

We need Ani songs and women empowerment songs more than ever. I want a revival of the songs addressing patriarchy, racism, and equality. A whole new generation needs to hear them and connect with their inner righteousness. I cried through the whole show because I felt the love in the room but also a sense of defeat. Love you, Ani. And absolutely loved Bitch. Go bigger. Go back. Get loud.

Ani D at Minglewood Hall / Memphis 22

by Meggles on 10/4/22Minglewood Hall - Memphis

Ani was INCREDIBLE. It was probably the best of 5 shows I’ve been to since 2007. Her energy was amazing despite not having her drummer. Seeing her play with Andy Stochansky was a dream come true though. Unfortunately, the venue was a bit disappointing. It was freezing!! It smelled like stale smoke in the lobby and cheap fryer oil in the main hall. We could hear staff washing dishes DURING the show. Individual chairs without arms functioned as seating. They were way too close together AND not numbered, causing mass confusion. I’m hoping none of my favorite artists play at Minglewood Hall anytime soon.

This was my first time at XL Live and it did not disappoint. The venue was spacious but intimate, clean and modern. Ani DiFranco was awesome as usual.

Venue was cool…Ani, not as much

by Nicole L. on 8/6/22XL Live - Harrisburg

It turns out Ani DiFranco’s more recent music isn’t my cup of tea like her old stuff and she only sang 2 songs I recognized. The venue was cooler than expected though… hoping to see more great acts go there!

    Great performance

by New fan on 8/3/22Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center - Oak Bluffs

Not familiar with her word before this and went on the suggestion of friends. Not disappointed at all. DiFranco puts on a great show with her unique vocals and guitar playing.

    Amazing as usual

by Megan on 8/3/22Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center - Oak Bluffs

Ani never let's down, playing a mix of old and new. Old songs that I have never (I don't think) see her perform live, and I've seen Ani many many times. This particular time was a treat with The Righteous Babes group opening and accompanying Ani in a few songs. For me, seeing Ani on MV was very special and I was not willing to miss, she def made it worth my while. Only suggestion is for the venue its self-a little shifty with times of the show, doors open etc. Selling drink items and/or snacks (maybe for the school as a fundraiser?) would have been very welcome

Best Ani show I've been to!

by Kim on 8/2/22State Theatre - Portland

Ani went old school, she played new stuff, two encores of perfection! I've seen her at least 20 times live, and this was my favorite show to date. The Righteous Babes were sugar on top!!!
