ANI DIFRANCO IN CONCERT:
Alt-rock powerhouse and feminist icon Ani DiFranco continues to be a symbol of activism through music, pulling no punches with her socially conscious songwriting more than 20 years after her debut. At her inspiring live shows DiFranco gives it her all, delivering her unfiltered lyrics with a raw emotionalism that perfectly complements her polished guitar playing. From classics like "Shameless" to newer material like "Whose Side Are You On?", DiFranco covers a wide selection of favorites on her latest tour, never failing to have a blast in the process.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Buffalo, NY, DiFranco was a precocious young talent, performing Beatles covers in local bars as early as age nine. Just a few years later she was playing original material in coffee shops, and by age 15 she had moved out of her mother's house to live in her own apartment as an emancipated minor. At age 18 she started her own record company Righteous Records, releasing her self-titled debut album on the label the following year. Over the next two decades DiFranco released a new album nearly every year, touring extensively and earning several Grammy nominations including a Best Contemporary Folk Album nod for 2000's Fellow Workers. Back on the road for her latest tour, the ever-prolific talent will treat fans to never-before-heard material from her upcoming album.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Ani Difranco's performance was truly unforgettable. She changed guitars for every song and even changed some of the acoustics for a few songs. Her voice was even better live!"
"She plays so hard and with such precision. It's like watching the Cirque du Soleil, you see it with your own eyes and you still wonder if it's possible. She's so ceaselessly generous and friendly."
"Her vocals and energy are off the charts. She's funny, engaging and smart. We had a great time. A good mix of the old classics and a couple of brand new ones."

She played old and new, and it was great! High energy, great personality, fantastic show! She's amazing and I feel lucky to have been there! Great show! Opening act was a surprise, and a great one! They were a nice start, and I will definitely be checking them out after that show. Very talented.
The show was awesome; Ani rocked, and so did her band. I'm always so excited to see her amd so bummed when the show ends. Diesel was a great venue for her.
As expected Ani DiFranco pours herself wholeheartedly into her performance. Rocks it. And makes the girls cry. Emoting with a passion and energy usually not seen after an artist "makes it" (even some of her most notable peers have jumped the shark), and an uncanny knack for weaving her poetry into non-standard guitar riffs with an end product that somehow is universally appealing, Ani whipped the crowd into a frenzy with each quick-fire guitar change and new song. Adding to the flow of the night and sense of intimacy was the club itself. The shift from the Rex to Diesel brought everyone within hugging distance (if not closer) of one another and made the overall feel more like something you'd see in a club on Bourbon Street, with the notable exception of having a true headliner on the stage. A Great Night Out.
The concert started with Guggenheim Grotto- Who is actually on my favorites on Pandora Radio. In my opinion a dude from Ireland starting a show is always a good beginning. Ani was great- better than I could have imagined from being a listener for so long. The only thing I didn't like was the venue actually- I was on the upstairs floor- and had trouble actually seeing the stage.
Great Venue, great show!! Ms. Ani D is never a dissappointment.
Ani is awesome to begin with. The concert rocked. She did a nice mix of new and old songs. I really had a great time at Diesel.
Outstanding as always - she never disappoints. Grotto was really good too.
The show was excellent. I have seen her probably 15 times and she just keeps getting better
