The thrilling story of a young American soldier, a beautiful French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. Featuring a score including the songs “I Got Rhythm,” “‘S Wonderful,” “But Not for Me,” “Stairway to Paradise,” “They Can’t Take That Away” and orchestral music including “Concerto in F,” “2nd Prelude,” “2nd Rhapsody” and “An American in Paris.”
Loved American in Paris. The Gershwin songs are unforgettable and stirring. Sets and dance numbers were excellent as was the cast. Don’t miss it,
I was not ready for so much dancing in the play more of a dance musical .it was not bad but just not my cup of tea
My wife and I really enjoyed "An American in Paris" at the Ohio Theater. Of course, you can't go wrong with Gershwin music, and the choreography was wonderful. From beginning to end the show was top notch. This show has now become one of my favorites. I would be glad to see it again in the future.
Fantastic scenery, dancing and music. What a special evening!
Amazing performer , very refreshing comedy , dance and love story .i loved every moment of it .
"A New Musical" should have been "A New Ballet". Very choppy storyline, chaotic at times not knowing what was going on (especially beginning and characters). If it was to be interpreted in the dancing it mostly was lost for me. Not what I found entertaining.
Dress circle seats were excellent. Great show. The dancers in the show were excellent (especially the males and the female lead). Really fun. Parking still seems to be a problem, but MUCH better if ramp customers pay AHEAD of time.
Totally exceeded my expectations: the dancing was superb. The sets, the costumes, the Gershwin.....who could ask for anything more? This is a must see. In my top 5 plays/musicals of all time.
The music and dancing were fabulous! We enjoyed the entire show.
I had seen the film and knew the story. But I was just blown away by this production. The show is really a full modern ballet with a musical running through it. There was wall to wall dancing and the dancers were amazing singers. I could not believe the stamina of the cast. The dancers looked effortless and I didn't see any sweat until the last dance number of the first Act. That is impressive. The set is clever. The screen upstage really reflected the mood of the piece and of Jerry's drawings. The dancers moved furniture and set pieces on and off so smoothly sometimes I didn't even notice they were carrying something until they shifted in another direction. So smooth. So elegant. I had to come up to Appleton to see this performance due to being out of town when it comes to Madison 2/27-3/04. I am so glad I did. I will say, if dancing is not your thing, this may be a long show for you. But if you marvel in dance, you will not be disappointed.
First time seeing this play! Figured if it won all these awards, it had to be good and it did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate an early Valentine's Day with this play as our main event, and I'm so glad we did! We loved it!
The costumes, the music, the dance, the beautiful Saenger Theatre...what an amazing night! My husband and I went to dinner and the theater, and there were no disappointments.
in one word: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!! do not miss it. They make you love Paris, France and its culture!
The venue was beautiful, but the show itself was a bit challenging to get invested in. I usually really appreciate and enjoy ballet and musicals but the plot/music of this one didn't entice me very much. I don't think it was a reflection of the performers' performance, but rather the content of the musical. All around it was okay, but not for everyone.
Maybe I was expecting something that was not to be but I expected more than an endless viewing of dance. The scenery was good but I am sad to say we left at intermission. We had orchestra seating and really gave thought to the amount of money we spent on that night.
Of the many shows that I have seen on tour and beyond their Broadway houses, "An American in Paris" ranks as the top. There are simply no flaws in this show. The book weaves a compelling story that will intrigue audience members who have or have not seen the source film. The Gershwin music is pristine and fresh, remarkably delivered by a perfect cast. I could not count the chill bumps I enjoyed during the final dance sequence. I drove from Birmingham, Alabama, to see this show and would crawl all three states to see it again. Bravo to the Saenger and NOLA Broadway for hosting this fantastic theatrical experience in the Southeast!
Amazing show, great performance, we all enjoyed it very much!
too much dancing and not enough story and story telling with the songs and dances...I did not want to go to the ballet and I felt like that is where I was
Great show-incredible talent- left singing and dancing- theatre magio
I found the dialog hard to follow. I'm sure the performers were skilled in their craft, but I could not understand what was being said. Setting was innovative and effective. The music was Gershwin, which is to say, it all kinda sounds the same. Interpretative dance is not something I particularly enjoy. Would have had a better time on Frenchman Street.
