    Not what we expected

by Goldenskies on 6/20/18Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Although the singing and dancing were superb, there was no need for the foul language. We were surprised by this and were also relieved we had not brought our granddaughter.

    An American in Paris

This was a most amazing rendition of the classic movie! In fact, I preferred the play. The flow of the story, the garb, the dancing and the singing! It was simply marvelous!

    Too little and too much

by RavenTX on 6/19/18Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

This was our first time at the Majestic, so I am not sure where the fault lies. From the front left of the Mezzanine, we could understand too little of what was said or sung. Theater acoustics, sound system, actors' enunciation, "accents" -- or all of these? The venue itself is, of course, amazing, and I would have given it four or five stars, but then it looks as though I am recommending this production. I cannot do so for general audiences. This production seems to place the story second to the dancing, of which there is too much, unless one is himself or herself an aficionado.

    My first Broadway!!

by AllisonT on 6/17/18Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

What a wonderful show to see as my first! An American in Paris, put on at the famous Majestic, was a match made in Heaven for this newbie! Can’t wait for the next. On top of a fabulous show, the staff at the theatre were so helpful and welcoming. And the wine was good, too! :-)

    " An American in Paris"

by genesfirst on 6/17/18Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

This production was dazzling: the sets, the music, the DANCING! We sat in Row O, right center, and our only complaint was not being able to hear much of the dialogue--good thing we were familiar with the storyline. Otherwise, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

The orchestra and score was amazing. The plot was a little slow. The ballet sequence was too long, but. the dancing was impressive.

    An American In Paris

by Thevy on 5/9/18Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

The movie on which this show is based is my all-time favorite movie musical so I was very eager to see this stage adaptation. I was not expecting for the story to be changed, but think that the Broadway version did so to good effect. I especially liked the ballet sequence at the end which reflected the paintings of Mondrian; while it was quite a departure from the movie it was extremely creative and original. I loved the show and would see it again!

    2nd Act Fantastic

by EdAbbott on 5/9/18Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

This was the first time we have seen An American in Paris. We thought the story line, the dancing, the music, and singing were all excellent. The first act was a bit slow and I was somewhat uncertain if we would walk away liking the show. But the second act was absolutely fantastic from the first scene thru the end. There were plenty of worthy ovations for the second act. We would recommend the show and would go see it again in the future.

    Dancing Like The Stars

by MorrisT on 5/8/18Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

I was hesitant to see an American in Paris, even after watching the trailer but a friend had seen it and said they enjoyed it so I figured I would give it a chance. I am so glad that I did. The musical book may be a little flimsy based on a love triangle or was it a quadrant...I'm not sure, but the dancing was amazing. The whole show had the feel of a vintage musical but did not seem out of date in the least. Lise and her admirers all performed their roles admirably. I particularly felt Jerry was the strongest dancer of the bunch but they each had handled their solos with finesse. My favorite dance sequence was the Radio City Music Hall dream sequence. I'm not a ballet fan so I wasn't impressed with the ballet finale but it held my attention nonetheless. All in all, it was a lively, delightful show with amazing dancing.

    A TRIBUTE TO DANCE

by Actor55 on 5/7/18Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

As advertised, the book of the show was different from the movie. However, it was still an interesting story. The biggest thing was all the Gershwin music, which was the highlight. The dancers were excellent, and the lead actress was marvelous as a ballet dancer. There also was a lot of comic relief.

Twice a Charm! Don’t miss this show.

by Avenuefoche on 5/7/18Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

Loved it from the balcony at Kennedy Center. Adored it from the third row orch at Hippodrome. The dancing is enchanting. The set design wonderful. Kyle Robinson as the lead was amazing!!! His style, swagger and smile is completely engaging. Can’t wait to see his next project. Love the emphasis on the male dancers equal to the female dancers. Amazing music. Great vocals. A must see. So entertaining.
