I was excited to see the program with the name of horses performing. I love cutting and follow the standings and was very excited to be able to watch the calibur of the horses performing so close to home.
Legends in Cutting: Lindy Burch, Chubby Turner, Kobie Wood were there. World Champion horses were there. It was the crème de le crème of the cutting horse industry. You'd have to go to Fort Worth to the NCHA Futurity or NCHA World Championship Finals to see this caliber of riders and horses all in one place. I don’t think the Kansas City Audience knew what they were watching. A Fort Worth audience would have brought the house down with the works that were presented at the Royal. I come every year - wouldn't miss it for the world
Loved it. Horse breaking leg was upsetting to kids, but real. Mutton busting cute.
We arrived at "Kemper" found will call and received our tkts....Our seats were good and the event was great...We loved the "Clydesdales" at the halftime....Great bull riders.....
The CBR put on a great show! They brought some really rank bulls to the event and the cowboys stepped up to the challenge. The sound system could have used some sound checks. It was too loud, so you could not understand anything the announcer said; or maybe it was just the fault of the announcer shouting into the mic instead of just talking. He should take some lessons from Donny Gaye, he was great. TELL THE ROYAL TO PROMOTE THIS EVENT AND FILL THE SEATS!!!!!! GOOD SHOW!!!!!
This was the first time that we have went and it is just a great show. You need to advertise a little more. I did not know it was going on just got lucky thru the internet. My wife and I follow the bull riding events that are in the small towns in our area and I was on the internet looking for bull riding events when I found yours. We will be back again and thanks for a great show.
Kansas City was priviledged to host the finals of the Champion Bull Riders league in Kemper Arena. If you are a fan of bull riding at all this was an event that you must attend. This is the real deal. 8 time champion Donnie Gay added color and credibility to the peformance as the announcer. You could clearly see this was the best of the best in all aspects. The bulls were top-notch, the riders were what you would expect in a championship round, and the bull fighters (sometimes called rodeo clowns) were the best I have seen in some time. The bull fighters were fast, brave and knowledgeable and save the riders from serious injury on several occasions including one time when the rider was hung in the bull rope. The only disappointment was the attendence. A show of this magnitude should have been better attended. Surely, there are more bull riding fans in KC. Maybe the CBR should have done a better job of advertising. The word will get out, that is is a great league and an outstanding product and hopefully KC will have another opportunity to host the finals.
Yesterday my husband and I took our son and daughter-in-law to see the Championship Bull Riding National Finals. They watch bull riding on TV so this was a Christmas gift to them. My husband and I don't normally watch it on TV. We will now! We started out by shopping at all of the wonderful vendors that were close by Kemper. That was an experience and we really enjoyed it. The National Finals was very exciting. The laser show was breathtaking, the music was upbeat and wonderful. The entire afternoon was an awesome experience for us all. Seeing the Budwiser horses was thrilling. The competition of the riders was exciting. Time flew by as each one performed.

Never been to a bull riding event -- I've watched them on television -- seeing it live was amazing! There's so much more activity going on that you don't see on a televised event. The bull riding and also watching the "cowboy" on the horse who rope the run away bulls was thrilling! The clowns are very skilled and one clown was quite humorous!
Had a great time at this event with our family. Recommend this to all families. We have young children and they were very entertained and not bored during this action packed night with great cowboys, bulls, and clowns. Hoping they come back to KC next year.
The budweiser wagon was a great surprise!! The program was well done. Clown needs some new material though.
The bull riding was fantastic. The bulls and the cowboys were both at the top of their game.
I love Sara Evans, so I was disappointed to see it was not a full house. Especially considering she's from Missouri. She did an awesome job and I felt bad for her. I didn't think the crowd was very in to it. I'm not sure how you fix that. She did what she was supposed to do. I would love to see more big name people like her at the Royal, like it used to be 15-20 years ago.

I thought the Rodeo as a whole was incredibel, great riders and performers with great performances. They did not cut the rodeo short for the concert, which was what i was afraid of. The only issue I had was the loud speaker saying it would be an extra 5 dollars to go down onto the floor for the concert. Already bought rodeo and concert tickets plus tons of food and drink, felt like they were trying to get more by asking for 5 more at the end. Would have been perfect to have them invite everyone down to the floor, i have seen other rodeos do that and it just felt awesome. Other than that, great rodeo and good concert.
I could have not done any better for my wife's 45th birthday. The Rodeo was exciting and Sara Evans sounded great. Thanks for another wounderfull American Royal experience.
The rodeo was very exciting. Time goes really fast as there's something happening almost the whole time. We couldn't understand what the announcer was saying. It would have been better if they could have put all the information on all the overhead screens. Sara Evans was very good. Again, we would have liked to have been able to see her on a big screen as we were back too far. Also, it was too loud.
Sara Evans was awesome!! Mutton Bustin was cool too!
