    A Must

by PaulGillespie on 10/8/12American Royal Complex - Kansas City

When you come to Kansas City it's for one of three reasons: 1. Work 2. Friends / Family 3. BBQ If it's the latter, you cannot miss the American Royal. The best barbeque around (World Series of Barbeque), plenty to drink and lots of fun. If it's the former two then you just need to find an excuse to also make it the third.

    Very Disappointed

by CajunCop on 10/3/12Hale Arena - Kansas City

This was my family's 19 year of a tradition of attending the American Royal Rodeo. It was the worst year so far. The Hale Arena seating was very uncomfortable. The facility was to small for the crowd. The Rodeo talent seemed to not be as professional as past years. Just wasn't the rodeo program as in the past.

The events before the rodeo started were very enjoyable. The rodeo livestock were of the caliber of the bigger rodeos. The entertainment during the rodeo was quite enjoyable. The bleacher seats were a little hard to sit on for the length of the rodeo. We would recommend this to others.

Hale, Hale, the Royal did well!

by tillytallysis on 10/2/12Hale Arena - Kansas City

Parking was easy. Really liked the intimacy of the Hale Arena. You could read the emotion on the faces of the participants from every seat in the house. The live-stock seemed strong, healthy and well cared for. I felt like I saw more families in attendance than I have in long while. Maybe the more reasonably priced tickets came into play. The announcer did great - he seemed to know the riders and to truly admired them. He did a good job of schooling first timers without boring old hands. I always enjoy anything the 4H and FFA kids do. i.e. the calf scramble.

    Where is the press?

by TimAbe on 9/30/12Hale Arena - Kansas City

Great family entertainment and for a fantastic price. I am really saddened that the local media has completely forgotten about the great events surrounding the American Royal. Shame on them for their lack of community involvement! Journalism is more than reading the police blotter! This event was wonderful!

    Fabulous Show

by Caryvale on 11/22/10Kemper Arena - Kansas City

The quality of the horses and riders was topnotch and totally enjoyable. The show was well-run and entertaining. HOWEVER, the sound system left much to be desired. For the first 3/4 of the show we could not hear or understand what the announcer was saying. Really needs to be fixed before next year's Royal. Especially for the Championship Night, we expected better.

    Saddlebred Championships

by Invasor on 11/20/10n/a - Kansas city

It was a very nice event. Loved to see all the horses-very well taken care of and mannered. I agree with a few others that they need to do more to promote Equestrian events. The tickets were a very nice price-2 tickets for under 40 dollars and we had third to the front row seats. Also, agree that the sound system needs to be worked on, had a hard time understanding the announcer a few times. But all in all if you love horses/competiting this is a good event to come see!

Enjoyed the show but too few people to give it the excitement of the past. Need to advertise more or it will die out. Need to advertise and build in more glamor and excitement. Also sound system was horrible.

    Sound system

by Anonymous on 10/11/10Kemper Arena - Kansas City

I realize Kemper Arena has terrible acoustics BUT the sound system was BAD. We could not hear anything said and one of us had to cover his ears do to loudness.

    CBR Finals Disappointing

by OldBiker on 10/11/10Kemper Arena - Kansas City

This event wasmuch inferior to the PBR but almost as expensive. If the event had cost $20-$30 a seat it would have been fine but $55? No way! The CBR needs to lose the "entertainer guy". He's not funny and not talented. I realize that Flint Rassmussen is the best in the world but it seems this guy wasn't even close. I typically enjoy "minor league events" - examples, The Mavrics, The T-bones,... These events are fairly priced and provide real entertainment, not so for the CBR. The riders were OK, the bulls were good, the announcer was fair, the bull fighters were brave and the entertainer was boring.

    CBR was awsome!

by Rgale on 10/11/10Kemper Arena - Kansas City

We took two of our grandsons and they loved it! GA seats in first row of upper level near the gates was a very affordable and entertaining night for all us. Plan on attending next year with all four grandchildren!

    Horseflesh Spectacular

by crudmiester on 9/27/10American Royal Complex - Kansas City

What a wonderful display of muscle, artistry, youth and enthusiasm! While the final event (liberty) lived up to what most expect to see, I must say my favorites were the harness showings. The handlers running their charges into the ring, encouraging them to display their unique personalities was a real treat. Some reared, some tossed their heads, while others just puffed up their chests and raised their tails ever higher. A wonderful evening enjoyed by the entire family!
