About

AARON WATSON IN CONCERT:

Texas son Aaron Watson is all about no-frills country music. From drinking songs to ballads about bull riding, Watson keeps it decidedly real at his live shows, eschewing high tech tour trappings for simple, straightforward renditions of hits like "Summertime Girl" and "July in Cheyenne." Working with legendary producer Keith Stegall on his latest album, Watson has fans chomping at the bit to catch him on the road in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Amarillo, Texas, Watson began learning guitar while attending Abilene Christian University. After spending several years performing around Texas and selling records out of his backpack, he released his self-titled 1999 debut to regional sales success. Hard work, extensive touring, and several more albums paid off in 2006 when his sixth album San Angelo made its way on to the charts, paving the way for his future success with albums like Angels & Outlaws (2008) and The Road & The Rodeo (2010). In 2012, Watson enjoyed his highest chart position yet with eleventh album Real Good Time, a Top 10 country hit.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Nonstop entertainment from a great artist!!

by txaggiebrad on 2/12/24The Blue Note - Columbia

Original music, showmanship and a personal connection with the audience. Definitely a show to see!! If you enjoy independent artists who don't fit into whatever image Nashville is promoting today, then Aaron Watson is a must see. I started listening to Aaron in 2002 when I first heard "The Honky Tonk Kid", and a couple of years later I was able to see him live at the Hall of Fame in Bryan, TX. I still love his music and never miss a chance to see him live. His shows are non-stop music without all of the fireworks and other distractions. One of the best parts of a live show is the way he connects with the crowd. Aaron tries his best to reach out to everyone who comes out to see him, especially the kids. I have never been concerned about the content of his performance and if it would be appropriate for the kids, he truly puts on a family friendly show. The lessons and messages in his music are positive and fit people of all ages. His latest stop at the Blue Note in Columbia, MO was no exception. He always has a great set of musicians with him and this was no exception. The music was non-stop and he had an outstanding level of interaction with the crowd. Not even an ear pack malfunction slowed down the show. Several of my daughter's friends were seeing him live for the 1st time and couldn't believe that he sounds exactly the same live as he does on his recordings. They were amazed at how many songs he was able to pack into the show. They were also impressed that he stayed around after the show to meet everyone who had attended. They were already looking up his tour schedule to see when they can arrange to go see his show again. Aaron Watson is a true American original and should be on every country music fan's must-see list of shows.

    Very disappointing

by Stan on 2/11/24Birchmere - Alexandria

Aaron Watson was having voice problems and thus talked more than sang. Also, the volume was much too high for the size of the venue. In addition, the lighting used was overkill for the size of the venue. As a result had to leave early. Did enjoy the opening act much better than his performance.

    Texas Country Music

    by Mack33 on 2/11/24Birchmere - Alexandria

Aaron Watson puts on a phenomenal show wherever he is. Great set with great opening set by the future of country music Jenna Paulette! The Birchmere is an iconic establishment for concerts and it’s was beyond perfect.

    Phenomenal Show

by memartin on 2/9/24The Bluestone - Columbus

I was turned on to Aaron while staying with family in Texas. We don’t hear him much at all up north. My bro-in-law handed me a CD as I was about to start my 17hr drive. He thought I might like it. I never stopped listening all the way home! I have listened relentlessly for two years now and was worried I had built him up in my head so much so that I would be disappointed with the real thing. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Aaron Watson is the real deal. There was so much passion and energy in his performance, I couldn’t sit still. If he got tired, it didn’t show. He blended his many tracks (and there are SO many!) seamlessly in an attempt to satisfy the crowd and play every hit. He even took into consideration shouts from the crowd on the floor center stage and played impromptu requests. As an 80’s gen Xer, I cut my teeth on big hair rock bands along with the 70’s rock of my older siblings. I was introduced to country in the 90’s. So many things have changed. So many have sold their souls to mainstream pop. This NW Ohio girl keeps drifting back to the boys and girls of Texas… Stand tall, Aaron and stay true to what drives you. It totally works!

Great performance, tough venue for good sound

by Brandt on 2/6/24The Bluestone - Columbus

Aaron Watson put on a whale of a show, showing a poise and ability to read the crowd only honed from 25 years of performing. It still baffles me how he hasn’t secured a major label deal on his terms and isn’t all over country radio by now. I’d give Aaron 6, or even 7, stars and definitely thrives live. His 6 song George Strait medley is something you’ll only get in concert. As for the Bluestone, it’s a cool venue but the sound is tough. This is a converted, 1860s church with really tall (25’ or so) ceilings and a 2nd floor balcony on 3 sides. We’ve been to a half dozen concerts here and the sound has been “okay” at best. When Joe Nichols performed 5-6 years ago, if you didn’t already know his songs you’d have no idea what the lyrics were, the sound was quite muddy. Colt Ford was similar. Aaron Watson has been the best, but he was using speakers on the stage and the balcony wasn’t open, so he wasn’t through the ceiling mounted speaker arrays. Not necessarily my favorite venue, so the Bluestone gets 3.75-4 stars here. Dial in the house sound system (and maybe some acoustic panels suspended in the ceiling to damp some reflected sound) and I could easily get to 4.5-4.75 stars for the venue.

    Well now

by CW5345 on 2/5/248 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a concert for myself, I’ve now done it twice in the last 4 months. I had never seen Aaron Watson before that concert and man do I regret that decision. What a fantastic show. I’ll happily go again.

    Not too bad

by darkshadow57 on 2/4/24The Blue Note - Columbia

It was good when we got there Jenna Paulette was amazing and was involving the crowd and someone got her a beer! That’s awesome! The Aaron Watson came out and there was a lot of younger girls where we were at. It just felt weird and creepy after a bit. Like I understand getting the crowd starstruck but girls that young was too weird so my group left after a couple songs. I was excited cause my buddy heard of him so I came early. But after that we left disappointed. But Jenna did an amazing job and an amazing artist
