AMERICA IN CONCERT:
Iconic folk rockers America have been performing to sold out crowds since the '70s, treating generations of fans to genre classics like “A Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair." Considered a top-shelf touring act, the band thrilled fans with the announcement of a 2014 coast-to-coast U.S. tour of their greatest hits.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”
“They are just as good as when I first saw them in 1976, and I will continue to see them year after year… Their voices never seem to change, and in addition to all of their popular hits, they sang less popular songs from their albums, which I loved.”
“Played all their big hits and then some, with covers of "California Dreamin" by The Mamas and The Papas and "‘Til I Hear It from You" by the Gin Blossoms—a surprise. They sounded excellent from start to finish.”
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Gerry Beckley, Dewey Burnell and Dan Peek were barely out of high school when they first made a splash in the British folk-rock scene as America. Not only did they score an international hit with “A Horse With No Name,” but they took home the 1972 Grammy for Best New Musical Artist. A string of additional hits would follow, including “Ventura Highway,” “Daisy Jane,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” In 2007, the band surprised fans with Here & Now -- their first album release since 1998's Human Nature -- earning praise from critics and kicking-off another successful tour. In 2011, America once again headed into the studio to record Back Pages, a collection of covers including renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Gin Blossoms.

Show was not as advertised. Gerry Beckley, the main voice of America does not tour anymore so only Dewey Bunnell with supporting players was there. I would not spend money to see this version. Bunnell was OK but the sound is quite noticeably lacking without Beckley's vocals.
Having been my first concert in 1978 with MMM in OKC, it was great to come full circle. Same great music!
Great venue and awesome show,On time Great Band,Will definitely go to more shows at this venue!!!
They were great! Loved the pre show video showcasing all of the movie sound tracks they did and also enjoyed the history and story telling throughout the show!
America is Great!!! They performed all their popular songs with great enthusiasm and energy! We love hearing the amazing, awesome stories of the songs. We’re happy we got to see America perform live!😃👏🇺🇸
A clever opening video helps us recall or learn about the formation of the band and their musical influences. One of the 3 remaining original members guided us through the years and the bits. The newer members of the band are fantastic and professional musicians. The band was well rehearsed, The audio and visual effects were top quality. Overall it was an enjoyable night that got me singing and swaying along to all their hits!
It was great to see America again. The last time that I saw them it was two of the original three and of course it was better vocals. They are a bunch of good musicians...
My girlfriend and I had the best time. It was so much fun love the songs and thinking about old times.
Me and my wife had a great time Hmm i need fifty characters
The bank started off strong... and really got the crowd going lots of nostalgia.. however towards the middle it got a little long.. songs that i have never heard before and quite long lots of guitar solos. then the end once again got us going with great songs of the past.. in my mind they should have had a startup band and then shortened thee set from two hours to one and a half and eliminate the middle of there set. all in all i would give it a seven..
The America show was great! Even tho only 1 original member remains touring, he has surrounded himself with wonderful band mates who are true to the original music.
Amazing show - Dewey’s voice is as good as it ever was! Sad that he’s the only original band member, but the new guys are all great musicians. First time at Hard Rock Sacramento, and was disappointed to see that the floor seats (which were the most expensive) were not elevated so had a hard time seeing over everybody’s heads! Not a great venue for a concert.
This was a awesome concert will go see them again.
Such a great band in the history of great bands! Though only one original member remains, they were sounding great.
Even with Gerry Beckley no longer touring with the band, it was a wonderful show and Dewey Bunnell has still got it. This being called "Encore", it makes me believe this will be the last tour. I get it. 55 years is a long time. AMERICA will always hold a special place in my heart. Sorry to anyone sitting around me at the Knoxville show.....I know I was singing pretty loud, but I do at least sing on key, and carry the harmonies like I did in my younger days! Thank you AMERICA for a wonderful performance!!
The huge screen behind the stage was an added bonus to the amazing music by AMERICA. It made for a very nostalgic evening. Loved everything!
