About

AMERICA IN CONCERT:

Iconic folk rockers America have been performing to sold out crowds since the '70s, treating generations of fans to genre classics like “A Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair."  Considered a top-shelf  touring act, the band thrilled fans with the announcement of a 2014 coast-to-coast U.S. tour of their greatest hits.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”

“They are just as good as when I first saw them in 1976, and I will continue to see them year after year… Their voices never seem to change, and in addition to all of their popular hits, they sang less popular songs from their albums, which I loved.”

“Played all their big hits and then some, with covers of "California Dreamin" by The Mamas and The Papas and "‘Til I Hear It from You" by the Gin Blossoms—a surprise. They sounded excellent from start to finish.”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Gerry Beckley, Dewey Burnell and Dan Peek were barely out of high school when they first made a splash in the British folk-rock scene as America. Not only did they score an international hit with “A Horse With No Name,” but they took home the 1972 Grammy for Best New Musical Artist. A string of additional hits would follow, including “Ventura Highway,” “Daisy Jane,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” In 2007, the band surprised fans with Here & Now -- their first album release since 1998's Human Nature -- earning praise from critics and kicking-off another successful tour. In 2011, America once again headed into the studio to record Back Pages, a collection of covers including renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Gin Blossoms.

OMG, the America concert is one of the best concerts I have ever attended. I walked out of that concert glowing and singing. It truly did bring back some wonderful memories of my teenage years. I was ecstatic when I learned they were coming to Albuquerque. History in the making. ❤️

  • Awesome Band

by Tc in New Mexico on 8/6/25Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing concert!! They performed for 1hr 45 mins WITHOUT TAKING A BREAK!!! Not counting the 2 minute water/guitar changes!!! Played all our favorite cover songs plus a few that weren’t as popular. And the lead singer——Dewey Bunnell, 73 y.o been performing for 55 years….UNBELIEVABLE!!! What a ROCKER!!!!

  • Ahhhh, memories, some good, some not so good

by Suede722 on 8/6/25Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 4 out of 5

If it weren't for the 6 foot 4 inch tall man sitting in front of me, my view would have been perfect. And then there was the man two seats to my right, who asked me to get my stuff off of the empty seat between us, because his friend was coming, and it turned out this man was sitting in the wrong seat and was asked to move. But AMERICA was amazing. I knew the words to the majority of the songs and could not help myself by singing. Hopefully not too loud. They sounded fresh. Some of the videos were disturbing as they brought back memories of vietnam. But most were joyful memories.

  • A band with no names?

by RudyC on 8/6/25Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 4 out of 5

I argued with my friend for a day leading up to the show that Gerry Beckley wouldn't be there. It didn't matter. The band was outstanding and a reflection of the standards that America has always had. True musicianship, attention to detail and working together to create a sound scape that draws the audience in. The hits were all there and some unexpected buried treasure. Ride On, Cornwall Blank /Hollywood,. The Border, and Old Man Took were delightful and a break from the regular "casino tour"set lists. Richard Campbell on bass, Ryland Steen on drums took their turns entertaining a near sold out crowd on a Sunday night. Andy Barr along with his many vocal, guitar, and keyboard duties, sang a new feel version of Daisy Jane that was perfect. Of course everyone there wanted to hear Lonely People, Sandman, Sister Golden Hair and Horse With No Name and those were the closing numbers. Dewey Bunell looked great, sang great and, on this night, was great. America, the band, was beautiful and we all left satisfied and humming our favorite tune.

  • Mind blowing!!

by Kris on 7/15/25DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

We had the opportunity to “meet and greet” Dewey and he couldn’t have been more welcoming, kind and friendly and willing to hear our story. America has always been “our band”, as my husband and I are high school sweethearts. Our song was “Three Roses” and Dewey was happy to see the photo I had of my wedding bouquet, which was three roses. He concert was amazingly mind blowing as well.

  • A totally mind blowing experience!!

We bought a VIP package which enabled us to have a “mee and greet” with Dewey Bunnell. He couldn’t have been more welcoming, kind and friendly and, since America has been “our band” since my husband and I was in high school and Dewe

  • It was good

by Mel on 7/14/25DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 3 out of 5

It was a good concert and I enjoyed it - just not the same without all the original members sadly and I thought some of the video background was a little distracting.

  • The America concert in Grand Rapids, MI

by Mike on 7/13/25DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The America concert in Grand Rapids was excellent. The band performed very, very well. Devos Performance Hall is a relatively small venue, which made it even better. Very happy to have gone to the concert!

  • Fun time! Lots of great songs!

by Darzy on 7/13/25DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

DeVos is a great venue to see anything at. I wish they would give a little extra time, if lines are long for drinks. Didn't get any was afraid of late entry into the show.

There was only 1 original member. Had seen the group a few yrs back where 2members were still together. Music was fantastic! Missed the conversations between the 2 originals. But, the music ahhh. Can’t go wrong with attending an “America” concert!

  • Greatest Hit:-)

  • Very enjoyable

by Artiecart on 5/18/25Hard Rock Live Sacramento - WheatlandRating: 4 out of 5

Got there early. Went to the cafe for dinner. Then the show. America was great. They played most of their older songs. Then took the long way home.

  • FANTASTIC concert, even without Gerry

by Spartacus on 5/15/25Hard Rock Live Sacramento - WheatlandRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was GREAT, Dewey played some songs less played in past concerts. The bass we knew would be good, the drummer is great to watch still and the new guitarist was fantastic, and the "new Gerry"really filled that role splendidly. Good vocals, and nice cohesion with the overall vibe. Heavier guitar solos and usage, a bit more energy level with this new group. Nice use of videos, played some Gerry solos as part of music prior to concert and did a video verse by Dan Peek which were both very thoughtful and classy decisions. You could tell Dewey loved it and understand why he decided to come back on the road. . My wife, daughter and I enjoyed it, and like most of you we have been to many many of America concerts through the past 53 years.
