About

AMERICA IN CONCERT:

Iconic folk rockers America have been performing to sold out crowds since the '70s, treating generations of fans to genre classics like “A Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair."  Considered a top-shelf  touring act, the band thrilled fans with the announcement of a 2014 coast-to-coast U.S. tour of their greatest hits.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”

“They are just as good as when I first saw them in 1976, and I will continue to see them year after year… Their voices never seem to change, and in addition to all of their popular hits, they sang less popular songs from their albums, which I loved.”

“Played all their big hits and then some, with covers of "California Dreamin" by The Mamas and The Papas and "‘Til I Hear It from You" by the Gin Blossoms—a surprise. They sounded excellent from start to finish.”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Gerry Beckley, Dewey Burnell and Dan Peek were barely out of high school when they first made a splash in the British folk-rock scene as America. Not only did they score an international hit with “A Horse With No Name,” but they took home the 1972 Grammy for Best New Musical Artist. A string of additional hits would follow, including “Ventura Highway,” “Daisy Jane,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” In 2007, the band surprised fans with Here & Now -- their first album release since 1998's Human Nature -- earning praise from critics and kicking-off another successful tour. In 2011, America once again headed into the studio to record Back Pages, a collection of covers including renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Gin Blossoms.

we love America and all the music ... time goes on and i understand that i know of only a few bands from long long time ago that are still together (all the original band members).. most of the new band members had not even been born when America came together.. still an outstanding performance ... A+

  • One of the BEST Concert

by America at Harrahs Southern Cal on 11/26/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been wanted to see America in concert and THANK YOU Ticketmaster for making one of my “bucket list” dream come true! It was a magical night listening to ALL their great hits! Purchasing the tickets online at Ticketmaster was easy and I love the reminder to let me know to download my tickets as it got closer to the event day! Keep up the amazing work! Thank you too to Harrahs for having the venue — as Harrahs Southern California is my most favorite Resort and Casino! Looking for more great concerts in the future at Harrahs SoCal!

  • TOOK ME BACK

by JFUNIQUE on 11/25/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 4 out of 5

LOVED THE SHOW AND THE STORIES SHARED WITH THE AUDIENCE. I KNEW MOST OF THE SONGS AND THE VIDEOS IN THE BACKGROUND WERE COOL. IT TOOK ME BACK TO MY YOUTH!

  • “America” at DPAC

by Babs K on 11/21/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

“America” put on an EXCELLENT show! It was a blast from the past & brought back great memories from my youth. DPAC is a GREAT venue! There is easy access & good parking. I love DPAC because it is not so huge…easy to get around inside. Great concessions,as well.

  • Didn't like it

    by DOUBLE G on 11/11/24Rating: 1 out of 5

Went expecting to hear their hits. Very disappointed. Only played 2 or 3. Many obscure filler songs. Seemed like the Dewey show, not America. Would not recommend it if you want to hear their hits.

  • Thanks Dewey for still touring

    by Barbara F on 11/11/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I saw America on November 7th in Grand Prairie, Texas. I drove 5 hours to see the event. Anyway, anyone who is a true "America"fan would have known that Gerry was retiring from touring. And I was watching the posting of the band's 2024 schedule and they never posted any events till way after Gerry made his announcement. Don't get me wrong I loved Seeing Gerry and Dewey together. But I'm grateful that Dewey is still touring. He and the band put on a spectacular show (1.5 hours) Brought back many memories! I will gladly go see them anytime! Thanks again Dewey for touring and enjoy your retirement Gerry!

  • Not great

by Gary on 11/6/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 2 out of 5

When we purchased this tickets, we thought we were getting America the original band. It was never disclosed that one of the originals was not in the band anymore so this was more like a tribute band. I wish I would’ve known that so I won’t be going to see them anymore.

  • Great experience

by Young Boomer on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Love the film reels and background on the band. Dewey’s intros added another dimension. His voice is as strong and clear as ever! Every musician on stage is very talented and meshed like they are all original band mates. Keep touring and we’ll keep coming!

  • Worth seeing.

by RHC on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Thought the America band was very good. Sound system seemed to be a little off as it drowned the singers voice somewhat in certain songs.

  • 1 out of 3 ain't bad

by Leon on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 4 out of 5

I saw America in 1972, one of their first NYC appearances, and a fan ever since. Those 3 guys wrote some great songs that evoke emotions because they connect to certain times in my life. The "song track to your life"thing applies here for me. It was a treat to see them, actually him (Dewey Bunnell) live for the first time in 52 years. A great band backed him up and they played every hit, covered some others, played some deeper cuts, and told some interesting background stories. But from a nostalgic perspective, it was like going to see Three Dog Night with only one dog. (Chuck Negron still tours alone.) Go see the show, it was great. Those guys can play and sing, and Dewey's voice was clear and recognizable. The stories were great, classic rock and roll. It is a show worth seeing. Time changes lots of things and I left feeling both glad to have been there and a little sad too for being there.

  • Love America!!

by crafty on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed the setup of the band. I was very impressed with the background videos while the band was playing. Brought back a lot of memories.

  • Still The Same But Different

by Bob M on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Even though there is only one of the original 3, the additional musicians don't miss a step. They played all the familiar songs and were great. Plus the Tilles Center is a great venue to see a concert and a show. Great night

  • Super time and truly well done.

by LG on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Just total enjoyment and happiness. This is a group of musicians that have it all and stay current yet engaged with music written beginning in the 1970’s

  • Could have played more hits

by josiema on 11/5/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 3 out of 5

While the band was really good, they could have played all of their hits . Instead they played other bands hits!

  • Terrific Show Highly Recommend

by Ima Fan on 10/30/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Started on time, no warm up band, show was terrific. Impressive musicians and they played all the songs you want to hear. Sounded crisp and clear with lovely ‘70s harmonies. Played one hour and forty minutes allowing me to home by 9 pm. A perfect evening.

  • A Fun Evening with America

by Jeff on 10/30/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Although my ticket seat selection was not very good, the concert made up for that choice. America played there hits as if they were recording them. There was only one original member left but the new guys all did very well.

  • Fabulous, Fun, Memorable

by Susan on 10/29/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Up front, first row center - doesn't get any better than that! So close to Dewey and the band made it personal. Had a wonderful time! Their shows never get old: twice in 2023, twice in 2024. On to 2025! Thank you America!

  • Great show and did the upgrade ticket

by vsig on 10/29/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Was a pleasure to meet Dewey, what a great person and able to get signature. Took my boys and they set in front row and got a pick after a great solo by Dewey!

  • Disappointing Concert

by Don Tomas on 10/29/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

I was anticipating a great concert from America on September 25th at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati. I have seen them many times in the past and always enjoyed their performances. I was unaware until the night of the concert that Gerry Beckley was no longer touring with the band since July of 2024. America with just Dewey Bunnell is not really America. Dewey does fine on the songs that he sang lead but no one can replace Gerry. Time to call it quits.

  • Extremely Satisfying!

    by Chuck C on 10/29/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

America did not disappoint. The band was very tight and the iconic hits just kept flowing. Yes, Dewey is the only original member still performing, and we miss Gerry Beckley, but the "new members "are extremely talented and all of the songs we love sounded spot on. The four of us who attended as friends grew up on this music and with the very innovative video shows behind the band, we came away feeling "Extremely Satisfied! "and nostalgic.
