The "children" danced and there were some new faces. Mr. Ailey and Ms. Judith would be proud to pass down his artistry...oh...REVELATIONS, the piece d' resistance!!! BRAVO,BRAVO,BRAVO!!!
This company was so energetic and skilled. You could see the passion in the face's throughout the show. I loved "Are You in Your Feelings?" The music hit so well!!! I was super bummed my friend didn't get to see it the next night. You should definitely incorporate this segment into more of the shows! Job well done!!!!
The show was immersive, beautiful and awe-inspiring. My husband and I left feeling proud of our culture and the dance art. We made a plan to attend an Alvin Ailey show once a year as it became an available.
The performances were excellent, I recommend everyone see them . The best part was the Old Spirituals, their signature & it still gets standing ovations. Loved it
This was one of the best dance performances I have seen. It was my first time seeing an Alvin Ailey show and I was very impressed. I knew it would be good, but it was wonderful! Will have to see it again.
Revelations, especially the solo male dancer was even more exciting than I expected!
I absolutely LOVE Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. Anytime I have an opportunity to see them, I’m there. As I expected, this new season was AMAZING! I love the diversity of the dancers. I noticed how each of them have their own unique way of connecting to the piece they’re performing to and drawing in the audience. I loved the new pieces but my ALL-TIME & CLASSIC FAVORITE will always be…Wade in the Water! It was encore piece and I could hardly wait!
This was my first time seeing Alvin Ailey’s Dance Company live and they were off the chain awesome, thank you for coming to San Diego please come back. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It was fabulous from beginning to end. Creative, mysterious, languid, sexy, exciting and beautiful Costumes and lighting complemented in every way. What talent!
Over the years, I’ve been to many Alvin Ailey productions and they were all outstanding! And this one was no exception! I love the modern approach and yet still staying true to the roots of Alvin Ailey dance.
Just lost myself in the stories and the beauty and the emotion of the choreography not to mention the over the top skill and versatility of the dancers. Will definitely see them again! And bring others! You seriously don’t want to miss this amazing troupe.
Excellent choreography . Revelation was definitely a highlight. The first act was a disappointment.
Alvin Ailey took us on a journey and told stories through dance. Every emotion was hit - i had chills, i cried, i laughed, and i smiled. I felt culturally seen, valued, and respected. Overall, I was completely in awe and had tunnel vision on the stage the entire time! It's a must see for me!
I loved the way modern music, present day norms, and gospel were inter-woven with the iconic dances. I was not disappointed. I’ve always loved the venue and it added to the overall elegance of the program.
As always, I loved the performances! I can't believe how expressive the dancers can be with just an arm movement, or a turn of their head. I loved each of the three presentations, but in particular in the third piece, Revelations, the music and dance moves were mesmerizing. I am assuming the number of intermissions (one dance, one intermission, another dance, another intermission, and a final dance) were for the dancers benefit, as I thought it was a bit much for the audience to wait for people to take their seats so many times. One concern as a theater goer...the people directly behind me spent the entirety of the first two "dances" (actually each was a group of shorter dances) eating crunchy snacks, and rummaging around in the bags those snacks came in. This really was distracting and partially ruined the experience. I plan to write the Venue (Civic Theater San Diego) and suggest they reevaluate the types of snacks offered. My rule of thumb is that if this dance troop comes into town, I will absolutely get tickets. You should too.
Alvin Ailey Dance is an inspiring, impressive dance company. The dancers have amazing grace and fluidity in their movements and total control over their bodies. They are excellent interpreters of our emotions. Watching them is a real treat!
As always, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater does not disappoint. Our program featured blend of the classics from Revelations and newer pieces, including recent Four. All were excellent. Dancers are simply amazing.
The variety and sheer creative athleticism of the performance was breathtaking

The cast was awesome! The music was nostalgically pleasurable! All Staff within the theater were welcoming and hospitable. This show had great plots/scenarios/stories told through every movement and sound! Everything was very much worth the pricing(s); thanks!!
