    A “must see” production

by BBB on 12/11/22Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

An extremely moving show. The wonderful singing voices of the entirely male cast were unexpected …we could have listened to them all evening. At 70 minutes, this show was just long enough to tell the story of the Christmas truce, but we wouldn’t have minded staying for more. We left the theater fighting back tears….if only the truce had held and spread.

    Great performance

    by S.R. on 12/6/22Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

Excellent performance by the actors. The play/storyline was beautiful and more incredible because it was based on a true story.set was great. I felt it could have had a little more words/dialogue for a way of explaining situations/scenes between the songs. We brought our late teens and early 20 year olds to continue us to expose them to the richness of live performances. It was a little harder for them to follow along. I believe that they “caught up” after a bit when they could get the cadence of the play. Not a criticism but just an observation. Overall, very nice experience!

This play should be a holiday classic. The voices of the ensemble singing a Capella were amazing.

    Review of "All is Calm."

    by Guest 1 on 12/5/22Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

An excellent show. Soldiers changed from one scene to another with no breaks. And the a cappella singing was truly memorable. Would love to know where one could get a video recording or soundtrack of such a good show.

    amazing

by Joanne on 12/5/22Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

I am very familiar with this show. I have the original saved to my DVR from PBS. I first saw it in 2018. I am totally addicted to it. As a former VA nurse I used to discuss this show with patients who remembered grandfathers who fought in WWI. The would talk about a truce that took place where no man would ever want to be billeted and how grateful they were that as Americans they were not there at that time. These actors, directors and crew did a tremendous job recreating this show. The theater is a delightful space as well.

    All Is Calm

    by Laurie S. on 12/5/22Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

I saw this show over the weekend for the second year in a row. It is a powerful show with a great set and sound, and an extremely professional, beautifully-voiced cast. I think it should be on everyone’s holiday to-do list.

    Profound

by Julie on 11/30/22Fox Cities PAC - Appleton

I was not sure what to expect, but was astounded by the production. The singing, especially the complex harmonies, were stupendous! Also loved the spoken parts delivered with great accents. The Q and A afterward was very interesting. The three actors were very gracious and generous with their responses. Can't wait to go next year, though will try to sit in the center as opposed to the side only one row deep from the stage.

All is Calm is a must see.

by Sandy K on 11/30/22Fox Cities PAC - Appleton

I would have given this 10 stars if possible. The voices of soldiers both in stories and song were impressive and very moving. A Leon for life and a beautiful way to begin holiday season. Giving names of these brave men only improved the experience by making it “real”. Anytime veterans can be given their proper “due” makes for a special event.

All Is Calm--A beautiful Christmas gift

by LittleBrotherHugo on 12/21/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

All Is Calm is a unique a cappella production written to tell the story of a 1914, WWI Truce between German and British, Irish and Scottish troops on Christmas Eve. Highly researched, this show uses quotes from actual soldier journals interspersed between hauntingly beautiful renditions of very familiar Christmas Carols sung in close harmony by the 12 male singers. It's a gift at Christmas time because of it's quiet, peaceful nature, helping the audience escape the madness that overtakes many of us in the days before Christmas. It's a seasonal production, so look for it next November and December and include it in your Christmas preparations. One note: This is not a show little children will appreciate. On the Saturday night, December 17 performance a child was noticeably disturbing to the audience and cast as well. Please think of others and secure a baby-sitter!

    An amazing work of art!

by Sladeburns on 12/21/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

This is an amazing work of art. It is completely a cappella and very accessible. You aren't going to find any uncomfortable, 20th century, off the wall harmonies here. It takes classic songs and arranges them beautifully for the 12 voices. I hope this continues to be an annual thing because I would love to make this a family tradition. I have seen a LOT of musical theater/opera and this is easily in my top 5 of all time.
