About

Disney’s ALADDIN is a dazzling and extravagant showcase of special effects — including a flying magic carpet during “A Whole New World” — as well as glittering-gold costumes and art deco-style sets that mirror the grandeur of a Busby Berkeley musical. One of Broadway’s most popular musical comedies, the show opened at the legendary New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014, and has since broken numerous house records (grossing over $500 million on Broadway). Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken composed the show’s music. The lyrics are by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), as well as three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice and six-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin. The book is by Beguelin and direction/choreography is by two-time Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw.

  • Aladdin was magical

by cranford on 4/22/14New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Aladdin the movie is my favorite Disney Movie so when it came to Broadway I had to see it. I loved it and would recommend for all. My 13 year old son enjoyed it. My only gripe is there was no Aboo, the monkey. He is such a part of Aladdin so why not include him Jafar had his sidekick the bird. Go see it.

  • Genie-riffic!!

Even though I had the unfortunate experience of being seated in front of a rude lady and child that wouldn't stop talking (loudly), the show was a great spectacle. I must give shout outs to Adam Jacobs for his amazing voice and portrayal of the title character, Gregg Barnes for his spectacular costumes, and to Natasha Katz for the amazing lighting design. If you haven't seen it, you should! A fun adventurous night through the eyes of Disney's imagineers!

This show was very good. Genie was my children's favorite character and I really enjoyed Aladdin's 3 friends, thought that was a nice addition since it would not have been able to work out having a monkey in the show. We enjoyed the performance and would recommend to friends.

  • Adaddin was spectacular!

by CMMR on 4/22/14New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This show had so much more than I ever hoped for. The costumes were amazing, loved the original songs. The production numbers was show stopping. If you can only see one musical, this is it. Disney out did themselves. I've seen other Disney plays, which were all fabulous, but this one is by far the best. Aladdin was so handsome, and Jasmine was beautiful. The flying magic carpet is mesmerizing. I've recommend this musical to many people, my daughter is considering doing a Broadway Day for her Sweet 16. Please post more dates past Nov.

  • Aladdin was Incredibly Amazing!

by Lisa718 on 4/21/14New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Aladdin was wonderful from the moment it started until it ended. The actors and actresses are so talented and entertaining. The scenery and special affects were amazing. We were mesmerized throughout the entire performance!

  • by honeytush on 4/21/14New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

My seat was a great spot to see the performance. The beginning gave me shivers when everyone started to sing the opening song for the show. The genie was great! They tweaked some of the familiar Aladdin I know, but did it so that it still made sense. I was saddened that the "whole new world" piece wasn't as mind-blowing as I imagined. A classic song like that deserves to be astounding. I didn't feel the magic between the two actors. My overall experience was that it was good.
