Disappointing at EJ Thomas....
by AkronUGrad on 10/17/11E.J. Thomas Hall - AkronWhile the Akron Symphony Orchestra and Chorus were enjoyable, the sound from the chorus seemed muted as they were seated behind the orchestra. The strings had a feature which was quite lovely. The featured performer, Dina (soprano), was disappointing, although part of that was due to my distraction with the uncomplimentary shawl she frumpily wore and which always seemed ready to fall to the floor in the first half. The tenor seemed very nervous and inexperienced while the baritone stole the show for me. He had a rich, beautiful tone. While EJ Thomas was not very full, ticketmaster's system did not allow us to purchase different tickets even though I made several attempts at different seating under the same price range. It kept coming back to the original offered seats.
