About

Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”

Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.

After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

  • AFI is always amazing, ticketmaster is lucky

AFI is amazing, especially live. The show was a bit short but usually is at the Las Vegas HOB due to the club scene afterward.

  • AFI was AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!

by Pako711 on 2/2/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing performance. I've seen a lot of concerts but with AFI you can feel the emotion in their music. Most of us know all the words and so it was cool to be with ppl of a similar mindset.

  • I was in AFI heaven.

It was fantastic. I got my AFI fix for sure. My only disappointment was I thought I had purchased floor tickets and was seated in the mezzanine. At the end of the night I was glad to be where I was away from the crowd. It was all good.

The show was amazing!! The band put on such a great show. A.F.I is truely a band that knows how to entertain! I have been following this band for about 10 years and they never seize to amaze me! The feeling I had before the show was pure excitment and joy! I knew I was going to have a great time singing along to every song with the Davey Havoc! I even got to meet Adam the drummer from A.F.I after the show by chance. That made the whole expirience even better!

  • AFI=Awesome!

This was my 3rd time seeing AFI and they were completly amazing. They sounded terrific. My only gripe would be that they didn't play enough old material (Pre Sing The Sorrow).

  • Great two bands

by Anonymous on 2/2/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show!! Hardcore Ceremony opened with a high energy set that had the crowds adreneline flowing. AFI kept up the mercyless pace with a show filled with outstanding songs.

  • AFI Was Freakin Awesome!!

Great concert! Great fans! Great place to see them!

  • AFI was worth the wait.

by ManaAndEddie on 2/1/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

2 Reasons it wasn't a 5, the wait/herding system, The event time on the tickets said 6:00PM, so we got there at 5:00pm. We waited in a line for an hour then got packed in with about 300 other people in a section bottlenecked into the door. I've been to House of Blues before, but I've never seen that people herding system before, it was awful. Everybody was pushing and shoving each other every time they opened the 6 feet of rope. When we finally got in at 6:50 we found great seats up top, and if you've ever been to House of Blues before you know no matter where you are in there you can throw your beer at the band and hit them it's so small. The opening band ("Toast" I think) started playing at 7:15PM and was terrible. All their songs sounded exactly the same and the lead singer was inaudible and rude. He would just walk backstage between songs, and at one point he actually got on his phone to talk to his girlfriend! I'm amazed they got not only got to open for AFI, but went on tour with them. They stopped playing around 8:00PM. After such an awful start we almost wanted to leave. The bass started kicking with red backlights in sync around 8:30PM, and AFI came out rocking "Medicate", and I was glad we didn't leave. They played such an amazing set, and the crowd was so excited we were almost in tears, the entire time. I don't think one person went to any of the 4 bars (which are like 20 steps away) between any of their songs! AFI definitely made the show, made the wait worth it, and I am going to buy tickets again for sure when they come back to Vegas.

  • AFI - Lots of flair, with less hair

by Treyo on 2/1/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, Packed crowd but well worth it. They played a nice mix of some of their earlier, more hardcore punk stuff as well as their more main stream hits. All together a great night and I'd recommend them to anyone remotely interested in their genre of music.

  • Bad AFI concert is still worth seeing.

by IllWearMyScars on 2/1/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Let me start off by saying I have been a fan of AFI for 10 years now. I like all of their albums and I am really intrigued by the direction their music is going. Now let's start with the opening band. Ceremony would be a decent opening band if they were opening for Black Flag or 7 seconds. They were an average old school hardcore band. The problem is that AFI is no longer an old school hardcore band, they have become alternative rock band. The crowd was very confused as to why this band was there. Then it took AFI's roadies 40 minutes to set the stage, which was mostly already set, they longest stage set up I have had to sit through in the 60 or so concerts I've been to. Then AFI took the stage, they still can put on one of the best live shows that I have seen. Davey Havok is a true performer and the rest of the band is really talented. Here is my complaint with this show. Like I stated earlier I like all of AFI's albums and I have seen them on tour for Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground and was satisfied ws both of those concerts. I was excited for this show because I was excited to see the new AFI present on Crash Love. That being said I felt this show lacked some of the best Crash Love songs and a general lack of the feeling that you get from Crash Love. The show was still enjoyable I just was a little disappointed with the feeling of the show.

the opening band sicked and were getting booed off the stage...AFI was great!!!

  • AFI always knows how to put on a great show!

by chiizukeekisan on 2/1/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Band was very "in-tune" with their audience and the audience were equally enthusiastic. Davey even let the crowd choose a song for them to perform :D

  • good show

Great sound- played most of the favorites and a few new things.

  • AFI is at the Top of their Game!!

by Wallbangers on 2/1/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

WOW...these guys rocked the HOUSE (of Blues!)!! The crowd knew the lyrics to EVERY SONG!! The sound mix was great!! The showmanship was outstanding!! It was the last show of their tour and you would think they would be exhausted, but they showed no signs of fatigue whatsoever and gave it 100%!! FANTASTIC SHOW!!

  • AFI awesome! opener... not so much..

by Amblur on 1/29/10Showbox SoDo - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

AFI is a fantastic band to watch live. I took my 13 year old son this time for his first show. he loved it! the opening band, I think they were called Cemetary or Ceremony, they were horrible. really horrible. usually openers are ok - these guys really made a bad impression. I got the worst headache from their screaming!!!! Other than that, AFI was great. The venue could have used some seating as wating 3 hours after the doors opened for AFI was tiresome.

  • AFI was great - Opener was awful...

    by SeattleGirl2501 on 1/26/10Showbox SoDo - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

I'm always impressed with AFI's performances. I've seen them 3 times now in Seattle - Warped Tour 2006, Bumbershoot 2007 and Showbox SoDo 2010 - Each performance is packed with energy and an obvious passion for what they do. They are just as good live (if not better) than their recorded albums - I would recommend them to ANYONE! Even if you're not an avid subscriber to punk/alternative bands - AFI is one to see. Fantastic lyrics, energetic performance - overall, AWESOME experience. HOWEVER - the same can not be said for AFI's tour opener "Ceremony." I've heard High School garage bands in better tune. Seriously awful stage presence with little connection with the audience. I WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone. The lead singer sounded like a prebubescent screacher. Furthermore, the attempts at "witty gay marriage" jokes to enthuse the audience were anything but funny - borderline offensive. I'm all for gay rights and equal treatment, but the dude needs to brush up on his comedy.

  • The Rock as Always!!

  • Davey and AFI Rock!!

by PonyHavok on 1/25/10Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great! Very high energy! Davey looked amazing as always. Feeling the effects of being front row center, against the barrier. Hit in the head many times by crowd surfers, but definitely worth the pain! A less fanatical AFI fan accompanied me to the show and enjoyed it very much.
