About

Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”

Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.

After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

  • AFI was worth the six hour drive!

by eliseytook on 6/5/10Murat Egyptian Room at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It was amazing. The venue was nice, the people working there were also very nice. And most of all, AFI's performance was amazing and completely worth a six hour drive. The opening performers were also very good and enjoyable. And the crowd was not too rough that evening. I have seen a total of three AFI performances and I do believe that this was the most memorable and most amazing experience from the concert. The band stayed after hte show and was willing to sign nad talk with their fans, which was amazing. It was the most memorable experience to date with seeing AFI.

Awesome performance. AFI is one of the few that are much better live than recorded. Anyone should go see it. Awesome show.

THe AFI concert at the Orbit room was AMAZING. The line of fans got in quickly, the room was good if not a bit dingy, and it wasnt over crowded. The opening band was amazing and AFI was to DIE for. The only problem was buying merch afterward but that was to be expected. It was a great time!

  • BEST I'VE SEEN AFI YET!

by Hearts1003 on 6/4/10Murat Egyptian Room at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This was AFI's first headlining tour stop in Indy in like 10yrs! I've seen them on Warped Tour a couple of times & I got to say this show was a MILION TIMES BETTER! Davey & the guys kicked butt!

  • AFI

The lights go blue. The crowd screams while Adam, Hunter, and Jade get in place. Jade holds up his guitar and starts playing. Then Davey appears and runs out around the stage like a madman, barely making it in time to the microphone for the first "Oh!:" The crowd sings along to every line of the opening song, Medicate. Saying this concert was phenomenal is an understatement. It's rare to find a band that sounds better live than on CD. Heck, most bands can't even sound as good as the studio versions. I've seen the I Heard A Voice DVD, but thought it only sounded that good because it was a DVD. Little did I know how wrong I was. All of the energy, the great sounding music - they didn't care how small the venue was. They gave it their all.

AFI put on the greatest show of my life. If you missed this show, you missed the show of a lifetime.

  • AFI awesome as always, but....

by AmyLeigh90 on 6/3/10Murat Egyptian Room at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The bands were all great but the crowd was a little too tame for my liking. Compared to the show that AFI did back in Pittsburgh about six months ago this show was alright dont get me wrong AFI ROCKS, but I just enjoyed the pittsburgh crowd better.

  • A.F.I. was amazing!!!!!

by Jessa885 on 3/22/10House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

The show was just that AMAZING! I brought one of my friends who missed the last concert and she was so excited to finally see them play live. The show was great, the venue was great, the other bands were great, but when A.F.I. stepped on stage you knew who everyone wanted to see. It was perfect.

  • The perfection of AFI

by Danlizzle on 2/9/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The show opened with Ceremony, who are awesome and have a great message. Plus, Anthony isn't too bad to look at for 40 minutes ;) AFI was perfect. It was so great seeing them live in a smaller venue. We drove out from Orange County for the event. Davey sang beautifully and all the guys played great. We had the best time!

  • AFI - House of Blues Las Vegas

by Psychowilly on 2/3/10House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The great thing about seeing a show at HOB LV is being able to stay at Mandalay Bay and due to rules governing all ages shows next to the casino you don't have to wait up all evening to get to the main act. I was disappointed with the opening act, Ceremony, they were trying to channel Black Flag or something. Unlike Boise some of the AFI fans started to heckle them, but to give credit they did seem to have a fan base. Hey, the important thing was AFI, saw them in Chicago and Oakland last year and they were still trying to get the set list to work. The good thing was saw them in Boise and Las Vegas and the set list really incorporates the new with the old stuff without losing momentum. There was a huge amount of energy from the band and the audience, everyone had a great time, Davey was interacting with the crowd who actually got to sing along with several of the songs. Now that the set works so well I would highly recommend seeing them live to even casual fans or new fans to Crash Love. The nice thing about AFI is that each of their albums are a little different and when they play a show you get to hear how they have evolved and changed their sound.
