Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”
Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.
After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

AFI was insane like always!!! The smaller venue provided awesome sound and great crowd!
Davey Havok is the most charismatic performer I have ever seen. You can feel that passion for his music, and fans, radiating from him throughout the entire show. Seeing them at a small venue like the TLA in Philly is ideal because you are so close that you feel a part of the show. Really incredible!
AFl pulled out all the stops and gave an incredible, high energy show. The old favotites sounded fresh and the new songs were awesome. A fun evening from beginning to end!!!
You haven't seen an amazing live performance until you've seen AFI. They put no less than their 337% into all that they do, and their following's devotion supplements that.
Amazing show. So much energy from both AFI and the crowd. It has been about 10 years since I saw them, so was not too sure what to expect, and was awe-struck. Truly a beautiful experience.
AFI puts on an awesome show! I've seen them about 7 times, I can't get enough!
Seen AFI twice now and this time was even better than the last. Davey Havok's voice is beyond perfect - they are a band where what you hear on the CD is what you get live..even better actually! Perfect show and performance!! Wish I could see them again!
AFI is such a powerful band. This show was beyond amazing and I can't wait to see them again. Davey's voice is phenomenal! I have nothing bad to say about this show. I wish I could relive it every night it was that good. Seriously blown away.
This was my third time seeing afi at the pageant. Once again, they did not disappoint. Davey is an amazing vocalist live. I can't wait to see them again. Favorite band ever.
Wow, talk about phoning it in. Less than 60 minutes (total, including the short encore) on stage. Really? You've lost me as a fan after stealing my money.
The venue was perfect and this was by far THE BEST show I have EVER seen! The sound, songs and show light effects were amazing!!! PLEASE have them back again next year!!!!
AFI was amazing! They are incredible musicians & artists. They sounded great, as always, when seeing them live. House of Blues was a good venue to see them at. It was small enough that it didn't matter where you were sitting/standing. You could see anywhere. They always put on a great show, they appreciate the fans, and they really seemed like they were having a wonderful time performing. My only complaint was the girl at the door searching my purse was very rude. She made fun of a medical device for my asthma that was in my purse. This was uncalled for and very unprofessional.
We love this band and as a group have traveled 3 states and seen them at the most 9 times. Best live performing band!!
I hadn't seen them in close to twenty years so I wasn't sure what to expect. The exceeded anything I could have imagined! They blew me away with the best show I have seen in a long time. Davey and the rest had an explosive energy that was contagious!! I would see them again anytime.
It was shocking. The band played for an hour!!! OK, MAYBE 65 minutes. I have never been to a show that was so short!
I've seen them a couple times and this was my favorite, even though my seats weren't that hot.
Most energetic show I've ever been to!!! AFI opened with Torch Song, setting the stage for an absolutely electric set-list. Davey Havoc walks out on stage with his new hair-do, wearing a glittering gold/chrome suit, and immediately owns the stage. I am not a long-time AFI fan. I don't know much before "Sing the Sorrow", and I think the set-list was designed for fans like me. AFI played mainly from "Sing the Sorrow", "Decemberunderground", and "Crash Love". but they did throw in 2 or 3 older tunes for the hardcores. Opening acts The Gallows got the crowd worked up into a foaming frenzy. Very fun and entertaining band. It was my first time @ the Epic, formerly known as the Quest Club, but it was totally awesome! It is small and stylish. Everything was brand new and sleek.
My daughter had a great time. She said the whole concert was amazing!
The night I saw AFI was the best night of my life. I'm not familiar with their crash love cd but they sang alot of their older music which was amazing. Belting the lyrics along with Davey, swaying to the mellow harmonics, watching Davey jump all over the stage. Best show ever.
I have to say AFI will keep u entertained! They also have a variety of songs from all their albums including my favorite sing the sorrow. My only problem is that the venue had horrible sound equipment (i went to see afi the next day which was so much better) and half the people tried to sing the wrong lyrics which this time it did stand out. Overall I would say go see AFI it's worth the money and unlike some other bands out there...they actually give music a soul and care about their fans afi: 10out of 5 venue: 3 out of 5
