About

Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”

Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.

After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

This is the third time I have seen AFI And each time Davy Havoc takes the stage he lights it up with phenomenal lyrics, crowd engagement and combinations of old and new songs.

Amazing show, great set, lovely venue. I was glad that we got to catch opening act touche amore. Incredible hardcore vocals set to epic guitar and blasting drums and bass. Would def fo see these in concert by themselves. As for AFI, besides playing my favorite song they have ever written and rarely perform (wester), it was incredible to feel encompased by the dense fog and emotional music of a fire inside. It was a set and an evening I won't forget.

  • AFI rocked the house of blues down in Vegas

Great energy had you out of your seat the whole time. We had balcony seats and didn't sit down once while they were performing. You can tell they really love their fans and are really personable with them.

  • AFI never disappoints!

Literally the best concert I have been to... Have seen AFI 3 times and this was the best show... They played a few of the new songs and the rest were the best of their older stuff... Again... Best concert I've been to... Love me some AFI!

Love me some AFI/Davey Havok! Such an amazing voice and frontman. Was hoping for some more older stuff, but still such a fun show and so great to see them again. Their sound has "mellowed" over the years but I like the new album just different style and cool that they're evolving, probably a good thing. Again, absolutely love his voice. Will catch them when they tour again (hopefully they do)!!

One of the best shows I've ever been to. And I do not say that lightly.....AFI has given me some memorable concerts! The energy was crazy intense, Songs that I have heard hundreds of times, just kind of hit me, and I got so emotional....and it was just awesome. Also, my 1st time in Philly! The crowd was brilliant! I was so proud! Less crowd surfing then I had expected (always a good thing), there was actual moshing, which it much more awesome. But when there were surfers, I was able to move from my spot on the barricade a bit to help deflect kicks off my new concert friends, and not get muscled out of my place - and that is a rare thing. usually it's a constant battle (...that I never loose...but still!). It was like being surrounded by concert family, hardcore fans there to have a great time. We got a 2nd encore, and I could tell the guys on stage were feeling the same vibe the crowd was. Got to meet Adam and Hunter outside after the show, they chatted with us fans. Jade hurried onto the bus (he's adorable and shy, and super awesome, so no complaints), but I was super excited that Davey stood on the steps of the bus and let us get signatures. he's a sweetheart, even though i'm sure I've sounded like a mentally challenged fangirl every time I've gotten blessed enough to meet him. The opening bands were really good. I could hear their vocals really well (which is a problem in some venues). the TLA is a pretty cool place. didn't see much of the staff during the day, but later on they were all good. They do have an express pass...or VIP thing, you pay $10 to get a ticket that lets you in 1st (and a free bottle of water!) I was the 2nd person in line (6:30am!), so me and all my awesome new concert friends were getting the ticket before the venue guy had finished explaining - because duh. But the fact that they have something that will allow people just showing up to cut in front of everyone who has been there since the morning (if we didn't get the cheat ticket)......a bit of a dick more TLA. but congrats of getting an extra $10 from all of us. But I'm very grateful to the nice guy came out to tell us about it, and let us keep our line intact. And after the show I was one of the few of my friends who remembered to get my free water from concession. Also, apparently there is no lining up on South Street? The reason was never explained. Around 12 we were told about lining up in the alley down the street....but they left us alone (lined up) in front of the venue until around 4:30, and then they had us all move to the alley. being away from the venue is so majorly stressful. people could start new lines outside the doors, what if there is confusion, what if people are getting let in before us....ugh stress. no worries, everything worked out fine...but still. Closer to when doors open they split up the lines into the fast pass and the other folk. Then they led us down the street back to TLA. I parked at a garage like a block from the TLA right off south street. There is a pizza/steak place...?... who's owner came out and told us we could use their bathroom any time, and could warm up from the cold and rain. that was majorly nice, even if he was just hoping to sell us foodstuffs. So, other than making us line up in an alley and that $10 line cheating ticket, the TLA is a great place that I really hope AFI plays there again.

  • AFI never disappoints.

by AStoryAtThree on 10/25/13The Fonda Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

AFI's performance at the Fonda this past Tuesday was amazing! The venue was nice as well as the staff. The other fans contributed to the positive atmosphere of the show, however, there were a few or "many" that would be shoving their phones, cameras in my face to take pictures or record songs in their entirety. This got real annoying quick. So a message to those fan that did that, please don't, it's disrespectful and incosiderate to the fans that are in the back trying to enjoy the show. Nevertheless, seeing and hearing AFI live was the highlight of my year so far, and probably will remain like that for this year. Thanks AFI for an awesome night.

    by leo4gzs on 10/21/13Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

AFI was amazing!! Davey gave an amazing performance and the crowd went wild. Amazing setlist with most of their well-known material and sharing some of their upcoming album "Burials". the first and the last song were unforgettable, and every song was executed in such a brilliant way while the crowd was singing along... If you like AFI you HAVE to see them live...

  • First time!

  • Short and sweet

    by ZeroCo0L on 10/15/13Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

They came out and blasted right into their greatest hits. The crowd, after having waited through two opening acts was hot and ready for them. The show was awesome, the venue nice and intimate, but they only played an hour!

  • by SusieJCarmichael on 10/14/13Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The setlist was mixed of old and new. The guys still had energy on stage as if it was Sing The Sorrow era. The venue sound and lighting was good. Good view from the balcony.
