About

Aerosmith have been one of the most iconic American rock bands for over 50 years. It started with their early ’70s rockstar lifestyle to their late ’80s comeback and sustained mainstream success through the new millennium. Forming in 1970 as a blues-rock group in Boston, Aerosmith released their self-titled debut in 1973. Although the band initially gained traction for their debut single “Dream On,” it wasn’t until their third album, 1975’s Toys in the Attic, that they exploded onto the international scene behind the multi-platinum singles “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way.” The band’s 1987 album Permanent Vacation was positioned as a comeback of sorts, setting the stage for 1989’s Pump, which earned the group their first Grammy award in 1991 for “Janie’s Got a Gun.” In the 1990s, Aerosmith racked up three more Grammys, two chart-topping albums on the Billboard 200 with 1993’s Get a Grip and 1997’s Nine Lives and seven No. 1 singles on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Although their core lineup of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford has remained relatively unchanged throughout their five-decade career, Aerosmith have managed to reinvent themselves for multiple generations. Across 15 studio releases, Aerosmith have sold over 150 million albums worldwide.

I was so disappointed with this show. I was stoked to go and it turned out to be a huge let-down.

Very Upset With Show Being Shortened

by SilverEagle20 on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

We have been to several Aerosmith Concerts but have to say this one in Atlanta was very upseting. When an hour into the show Steven Tyler makes the announcement that they are going to "shorten the show" and for the crowd "not to be mad at him". We know he had some kind of leg problem that was bothering him but they could have made some alterations to the show so at least people could here the songs they paid to hear. To play a little over a hour and having Joe Perry perform more than usual to fill in wasn't worth the $200+ plus that was paid for tickets plus the $200+ that we paid for drinks and shirts. We're not happy fans this morning. They should consider coming back later in the season and doing a make-up. On the other side ZZTop was excellent and probably should have come back for a curtain call especially after Steven call his show early. We will think twice before buying tickets to see Steven and the lads.

Disappointed... They could be so much better!

by gtg007w on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

A picture of the setlist from AJC clearly shows they meant to play more songs, but Aerosmith cut it short and they didn't even play their most famous songs in Sweet Emotion and Dream On. What's the deal with that? I'm requesting some sort of a refund, if the setlist showed they planned on playing these songs and didn't, I felt like I didn't get the full value of the gig I paid for. I still feel like I attended half of what could have been a great fun concert.

    Aerosmith

by katlanta on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

This was probably one of the most disappointing shows I have been to. Steven Tyler had limited movement due to a leg injury and only sang for about an hour because he had no voice. We spent a good deal of money on the show only for it to be a let down. It would have been better to have been cancelled than to waste money for a lousy show.

    Concert cut short

by Rockdog on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Show started off well. ZZ Top played favorites for 1 hour, had some nice background footage of their old MTV videos, as well as old photos without beards and short hair. Aerosmith came out at 9:25 with a very impressive stage, lots of lights, lasers, platforms. Steven Tyler said he was a bit crippled, but he would be ok. Then 45 minutes into the show, he said they were going to have to cut it short because he was dealing with the pain. They left the stage, then about 5 minutes later Joe Perry came out, did some guitar solos. The rest of the band joined him, they played 3 more songs, then left the stage. They were on for a little over an hour. I only paid $30 for a lawn ticket, so I got my money's worth, but if I had paid $150-$200, I would have been pissed.

    Aerosmith - ZZ-Top Concert

by AlphaOmega on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Excellent Concert ZZ-Top had the crowd ready for Aerosmith, and Aerosmith did not disappoint.

    Show too short!

by Willly on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

ZZ top wasn't loud enough. Didn't even know they were already on stage when we arrived. Very long break between bands. Aerosmith's volume could have been bumped up a notch. They definitely needed to play longer. We got screwed on the length of show for such an epic band. AJC found the set list on stage and several of the songs were not played.

    That was it?!

by Mandy01 on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Where were all the Aerosmith hits? I sat in traffic longer than they played! The songs they did sing sounded great, but I would have preferred to hear more of their hits and less of the b-side songs. I anticipated the concert for months and was so let down. I'll give them one more chance the next time they are in town and hope they play songs like "Sweet Emotion", "Livin on the Edge", "Angel" and "Dream On". Oh...ZZ Top was great!

    Aerosmith was no good

by leighbird25 on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

I am/was a huge Aerosmith fan, now after the performance last night I will probably never go to one of their concerts again. I was so disappointed with the song selection - all I really wanted to hear was Sweet Emotion and Crazy - geez.

    Aerosmith Atlanta Show 7/15/2009

by Hido on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

This was my first time seeing Aerosmith. I had wonderful seats in the 16th row on the left side. Unfortunately, my seats were good, but the show was not. Steve was either sick or injured. They only played for an hour and didn't play any of my favorite songs (Angel or Sweet Emotion). He sounded horrible and wasn't himself on stage. It didn't meet my expectations and wasn't worth the $200 I paid for each ticket.

Aerosmith cut the concert short - disapointing

by Kibbles on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

This is my second time seeing Aerosmith - I saw them in Paris 2 years ago and they were amazing. I don't know if it had something to do with Steven Tyler's injury or what but they played for about an hour and I felt like it was a joke when they left the stage. We drove 2 hours for this concert and I was very disappointed... they should have played more songs - the energy was not there.

    Still Rockin'!

by desblaze16 on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Venue's not the best (Atlanta's Lakewood Ampitheater), but the set design and staging were phenomenal! Aerosmith had to cut the show a bit short - Steven Tyler may have been showing his age after leaping and twirling all over the stage dragging his trademark mike for half a dozen songs - but they played for over an hour besides and came back onstage for a two song encore. In short - it's Aerosmith, they're incredible. Wherever and whenever you see them, they are hard-wired put in a hell of a rock n' roll show.

    fair

by hiss on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

I love Aerosmith however, they did not play long enough and they did not play a lot of their hits. How could they not even play Sweet Emotion? Many disappointed fans!

Aerosmith was great, Steven Tyler not so much...

by IveSeenBetter on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Don't get me wrong, I love Steven Tyler's music and I don't doubt his abilities, but the fact is that he didn't seem ready to be singing. He hurt his leg while walking around on stage (nothing too over the top) and then his voice went out throughout the concert. I just don't think he's ready to be touring... The rest of the band was great though. Joe Perry is on his game and the new guitarist fit in very well at his first gig. ZZ Top was awesome. Good Ole Boys who could stroke out an awesome performance anytime. I almost wish they had headlined, but I'm sure that would have cut in on their after parties!

Aerosmith rocked - but it was TOO SHORT

by BrownEyedSusan40 on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

ZZ Top can still bring the house down. They were phenominal. And Aerosmith sounded fantastic, what little we got to hear of them. I was so dissappointed that they cut the concert short, it's sad when the opening act plays for longer than the main event. I feel cheated that I didn't get to hear Aerosmith sing some of my favorite songs, I mean COME ON, how could they not sing "Dream On", or "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" or "Sweet Emotion"??????

    Aerosmith sucked!!

by Nicoli on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

It was horrible. There was a group of 30 woman who went to the concert and all of us agreed that we wasted our money. Aerosmith played for only 45 minutes and Tyler said they were cutting it short. Not to mention that they played only three classic songs. All of the others were new music. No one around us knew the words. I would not recommend this concert to anyone. Save your money. The opening act was much better!!

Aerosmith disappointed. Not worth the money.

by Charleigh on 7/16/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Aerosmith only played two songs anyone recognized - "Janie's Got a Gun" and "Walk this Way." Songs I was expecting but were not played were: Don't Wanna Miss a Thing Crazy Cryin Dude Looks Like a Lady Sweet Emotion Livin on the Edge None were played. These were the songs that made Aerosmith big with my generation. Furthermore, they didn't seem into it or like they wanted to be there. I was expecting a decent energy level from the band for this show.
