About

AC/DC IN CONCERT:

With dozens of driving anthems and countless epic concerts under their belt, AC/DC has become one of the most successful and recognizable hard rock bands ever. Powerhouse numbers like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black" get ticket buyers headbanging along from the first few iconic chords, while a pyrotechnic stage show complete with fireworks, Jumbotrons, and stacks of cranked amplifiers ensures the whole arena sees, hears, and feels the thunder from start to finish. Legendary duck-walking guitarist Angus Young keeps crowds pumped with his relentless energy, doling out crushing riffs and lightning-fast licks with swagger to spare. And on the 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, special guest vocalist Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses steps in to lend his trademark range to AC/DC's earth-shaking sound, bringing a new edge to their larger-than-life performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young got the name AC/DC from the back of their sister Margret's sewing machine ñ the same one she used to sew the campy Catholic schoolboy uniform Angus used to wear on stage. The fledgling hard rockers started making a name for themselves in small Australian clubs in 1973, but things truly started to take off when they hooked up with wild-man singer Bon Scott the following year. Sadly, tragedy struck a few years later following the international success of 1979's Highway to Hell when Scott died after a night of heavy drinking. Encouraged by the support of the late singer's parents, the group doggedly carried on with new frontman Brian Johnson to complete work on their next album, Back in Black. Since its 1980 release, that album has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide on the back of quintessential rock staples like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells," and the title track. The band maintained a steady recording and touring schedule for the next three decades before health issues began to take their toll. First Malcolm Young was forced to retire in 2014 with Parkinson's disease, then hearing loss sidelined Brian Johnson midway through their 2016 Rock or Bust Tour. AC/DC announced that Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose would finish the tour in Johnson's place, while the latter explored hearing aids that would allow him to rejoin the group in the future without further damaging his hearing (happily he noted that he'll still be able to record music). This never-say-die attitude over the past 40 plus years has further glorified AC/DC's legend for fans, who know they'll rock the stage no matter what.

    Hell of a good time!

by LeeroyKincaid on 9/7/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

I've been a fan of AC/DC for 12 years and this is the first time I had seen them live, it was well worth the wait! Though Brian and Malcolm are irreplaceable talents, Axl Rose and Stevie did a good job filling in for them. Chris Slade was a badass on the drums, and Cliff was rock solid as always on bass, but it was Angus Young that made the concert a show. At 61 he hasn't lost a step! His raw energy is contagious, and he still wields the Gibson SG like a rock monster. Overall, I loved the show! It's an experience I'll never forget!

    Angus and Axl!!!

by Rongopa on 9/7/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

Great show. Angus was on as always and sounded great. Axl on lead vocals was unbelievable. No drama and he knew his place. This is Angus and AC/DC's show.

    Still The Best

by Mongofan on 9/7/16Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

Naysayers and "purists" can stay home with their LPs, tears and memories. For my money, the current AC/DC lineup with Axl Rose is the best live act in the world right now. Axl brings the danger of Bon, while also hitting Brian's early high notes. The AC/DC setlist had grown a little predictable, but they're changing it up with some older songs such as "Live Wire" and "Riff Raff," the later in a 3 song encore that replaced the traditional 2 song encore. Heck, I was even happy to hear "Rock 'n Roll Thunder" from the latest album. If this is the last time we see Angus performing under the AC/DC label, it will be a fitting send-off. Let's hope he's up for at least one more "Ride On."

AC/DC rocked the arena Sunday night in Cbus! I was a little reserved regarding Axl filling in as lead singer (Ive been a lifelong AC/DC fan). He did a superb job! No one could've filled Brian's shoes flawlessly, but Axl did a great job!

AC/DC would have made Bon proud!

    by StonesFan60 on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Like many in the building, I was skeptical of the AXL Rose experiment. Fortunately, he came thru with flying colors. He obviously preferred to sing the Bon Scott era songs, so we were rewarded with multiple cuts from Powerage, Highway to Hell, and High Voltage...many that haven't been performed since we lost Bon. Riff Raff during the encore was the perfect tune to send my ringing ears off into the night. Fun show and Angus Young even at 1/3 the speed of Young Angus is still THE MAN!!

    Great Show!

    by Rowge1 on 9/7/16BB&T Center - Sunrise

It was Rock n Roll history. Axel Rose, of all people, fronting AC/DC??? Forget about his past issues but his voice doesn't even come close to Bon or Brian. It didn't matter, he came to Rock, and Rock he did! I've been going to AC/DC shows since their first US tour, as an opening act in 1974. I've seen them several times over the years and never been disappointed. This show was no different. Great. It's hard to believe Angus is 61. He never slowed down for a minute during the entire, non-stop 2 hours and 15 minutes. No talk, no BS stories, no intermission, just straight ahead AC/DC headbangin'. Awesome! Go, you may never get another chance.

While Axl Rose doesn't have the rasp of Brian Johnson, he did an amazing job during the Columbus concert. The band sounded great

    Don't miss this one!

by MartinEarl on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Absolutely unbelievable show. Axl sounded better than Brian Johnson, especially on the old Bon Scott tunes. Loved the set list which was heavy on the older stuff (Live Wire, let there be Rock, Sin City, Givin the dog a bone-just to name a few). I'm seriously considering a road trip to Michigan to see them again, it was that good. Angus Young.... AWESOME! My favorite guitarist/entertainer of all time.

    AC/DC Rocked the house!

by Hoyter on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

I was disappointed to hear Brian Johnson would not be lead vocals and Axl Rose would be. Contemplated returning the tickets, I am glad I did not. The show was awesome. Angus made up for the missing members. He is a true entertainer. The vocals at times sounded like Guns and Roses sings AC/DC and other times it was close. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour show.

    Fun evening!

by kimobrn on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

We had fabulous seats! The concert itself was good. They played for 2 1/2 hours exactly. We all thought Axl did a decent job of standing in for Brian, although there were times that his GNR screeching came out. This concert is one of the loudest I've been to since high school. There were times that you couldn't even hear any vocals! And my ears rang and felt clogged for over two days!! Angus made the show! He never stopped moving for a minute!! Would I go again...probably, but I wouldn't be upset if I couldn't get tickets. We were really disappointed that Brian had to step down, but completely understand. It's too bad they didn't try to get someone who wasn't already a big name and had their own "sound" to step in.

    Axl killed and Angus rocked!

by roacho on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

So happy I did not sell or refund these tickets! Axl Rose was in my opinion a better lead singer than Brian Johnson. He was no nonsense and in great voice. The band was tight and Angus put on a show. My 5th AC/DC show and ranks as one of the best!

    AC/DC with Axl is amazing!

by MusicJunkie on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

I was skeptical at first and a bit disappointed that Brian Johnson would not be with the band. Once hearing Axl though all fears were gone, his voice is in great form and he is especially great on the older Bon Scott material. If you get a chance to see this band in it's current form, do not hesitate! The band may not be around long with the current lineup so take any opportunity you have to see them. Angus is still the amazing Angus that he has been since the band was first formed and has not lost a step! He is still one of the most entertaining guitarists in all of music.

    AC/DC WITH AXLE ROSE

by CIAVE on 9/6/16BB&T Center - Sunrise

THIS WAS MY 7th AC/DC SHOW (1982,1983,1988,1991,2001,2009), AND THESE GUYS STILL HAVE IT, EVEN WITH UNCLE STEVIE YOUNG FILLING IN FOR MALCOLM, AND CHRIS SLADE ON DRUMS. CLOSE YOUR EYES, AND THE SOUND IS IDENTICAL, AND UNCOMPROMISED. THE MUSIC, AND THEIR SIGNATURE SOUND IS THE STAR HERE. I WAS A BIT SKEPTICAL ABOUT AXLE ROSE "FILLING IN" FOR BRIAN JOHNSON, BUT TRIED TO MAINTAIN AN OPEN MIND. I WAS IMPREESSED - AXLE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! HIS VOICE WAS FRESH, AND HE SOUNDED GREAT WITH THE GUYS! HIS VOCAL STYLE FIT SEEMLESSLY WITH THE BAND'S SOUND, HE KNEW HIS ROLL, AND PLAYED THE PART TO NEAR PERFECTION. THIS FROM SOMEONE WHO WAS NEVER A HUGE AXLE ROSE / GNR FAN... I WILL GO OUT ON A LIMB HERE, AND SAY THAT IF THE BAND DECIDES TO CONTINUE RECORDING AND TOURING, IT SHOULD DO SO WITH THIS GUY AS VOCALIST. HOWEVER, AS THE SHOW PROGRESSED, IT FELT MORE AND MORE LIKE THE LAST TIME WE WOULD SEE THEM. THIS CONCERT LASTED CLOSE TO 2 1/2 HOURS, MUCH, MUCH LONGER THAN ANY PREVIOUS SHOW. IT REEKED OF 'FAIRWELL TOUR'; I HOPE I AM WRONG. SETLIST: AC/DC 8.30.16 Rock or Bust Shoot to Thrill Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be Back in Black Rock n Roll Thunder Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Rock and Roll Damnation Thunderstruck High Voltage Rock and Roll Train Hell's Bells Giving the Dog a Bone If You Want Blood You Got It Live Wire Sin City You Shook Me All Night Long Shot Down in Flames Have a Drink on Me TNT Whole Lotta Rosie Let There Be Rock Encore Highway to Hell Riff Raff For Those About to Rock

The Most Electrifying Rock n Rock Band

    by Beholder1 on 9/6/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

They have always been the best Rock n Roll Band to me. No bs ballads, just in your face rock. Blue collar band that don't give a damn what critics say. Their music and concert sales is all you need to know. I hate that Malcolm has dementia and Brian has hearing issues but Angus recruited Axl to finish out the tour and it was a fantastic choice. Axl handled the songs well, especially the Bon songs. Great Set list with 13 of 24 Bon Scott songs. I was blown away just like I was the first time I seen them in 1983.

AC/DC and Axl pull it off,big time

by tommyhc on 9/6/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

I've seen AC/DC every time they came to Atlanta since 1983. I was on the fence on seeing them this time without Brian Johnson, even though I just saw GnR,and knew how great Axl's voice still is. I read an interview with Angus saying with so many longtime members going, he may call it quits after this tour, he didn't know. So I choose to see Angus one more time. I admit I would rather have seen Brian singing ,but Axl was truly amazing. He sang both Bon's and Brian's song equally great. It took a few songs into the set to get used to him singing them, but after that I didn't really think about it. They were fine tuned and firing on all cylinders. Very glad I went !!!!

They need to cut an album with AXL!! He sounded better with them than with GNR. He reminds me of the Bon Scott days but just a little fatter.

    AC/DC ROCKS!

    by Sparker33 on 9/6/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

I am a lifelong AC/DC fan and was majorly upset at the March postponement and even more devastated to discover Brian Johnson was not ever going to perform again with the band. I waited 35 years for this concert and a friend told me Angus would not disappoint and to keep my tickets and go when they rescheduled. All I can say is thank you Angus for being true to your word and making sure that this tour continued on. All I can say is you are a BEAST, Axl sang his a** off and it was more than worth the 35 year wait! YOU ALL ROCK!! You have to experience it to believe it and if you don't go you are missing the performance of a lifetime!!!!!

    Awesome Show

by Felix12990 on 9/6/16Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

The show was fantastic. Even though some of the original members were not there, they still put on one hell of a show. Angus did a fantastic job of his typical energetic style show as well. Over all it was well worth it.
