About

AC/DC IN CONCERT:

With dozens of driving anthems and countless epic concerts under their belt, AC/DC has become one of the most successful and recognizable hard rock bands ever. Powerhouse numbers like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black" get ticket buyers headbanging along from the first few iconic chords, while a pyrotechnic stage show complete with fireworks, Jumbotrons, and stacks of cranked amplifiers ensures the whole arena sees, hears, and feels the thunder from start to finish. Legendary duck-walking guitarist Angus Young keeps crowds pumped with his relentless energy, doling out crushing riffs and lightning-fast licks with swagger to spare. And on the 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, special guest vocalist Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses steps in to lend his trademark range to AC/DC's earth-shaking sound, bringing a new edge to their larger-than-life performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young got the name AC/DC from the back of their sister Margret's sewing machine ñ the same one she used to sew the campy Catholic schoolboy uniform Angus used to wear on stage. The fledgling hard rockers started making a name for themselves in small Australian clubs in 1973, but things truly started to take off when they hooked up with wild-man singer Bon Scott the following year. Sadly, tragedy struck a few years later following the international success of 1979's Highway to Hell when Scott died after a night of heavy drinking. Encouraged by the support of the late singer's parents, the group doggedly carried on with new frontman Brian Johnson to complete work on their next album, Back in Black. Since its 1980 release, that album has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide on the back of quintessential rock staples like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells," and the title track. The band maintained a steady recording and touring schedule for the next three decades before health issues began to take their toll. First Malcolm Young was forced to retire in 2014 with Parkinson's disease, then hearing loss sidelined Brian Johnson midway through their 2016 Rock or Bust Tour. AC/DC announced that Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose would finish the tour in Johnson's place, while the latter explored hearing aids that would allow him to rejoin the group in the future without further damaging his hearing (happily he noted that he'll still be able to record music). This never-say-die attitude over the past 40 plus years has further glorified AC/DC's legend for fans, who know they'll rock the stage no matter what.

    Amazing-one of the best ever!

by justkc on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I have been going to concerts for almost 40 years, and this was easily one of the tope 3. No bs banter to rile up the crowd, just good old rock and roll for 2 1/2 hours. Axl Rose was a very welcome substitute for Brian Johnson, and wisely took a back seat to Angus Young. They played a great mix of their hits from the Bon Scott era right through their most current album, Rock or Bust. Great show, great time, great, great!

    Awesome!

by JonnieCakes on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Awesome! Way better than I thought it would be. News flash - Axl is way better than Brian Johnson! Don't miss this. More like the old days with more focus on the music and less on the theatrics. More early Bon Scott cuts. Best "Let There Be Rock" I've ever seen/heard!

    Axl/DC was Great!

by Georgeg63 on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

The show was as expected. High energy from the first chord. Axl, Angus, Cliff, Stevie and Chris were a solid unit. Wish they were playing a second show. For those about to rock...we salute you!!! FIRE!

AC/DC is the epitome of live rock & roll!

by Ddksk on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Hands down....the best live rock & roll show on the planet! Legendary songs played with the gusto of a mad scientist who had just brought the rock & roll monster to life. Angus and crew play with such passion for the love of the music and fans, that it will rock you to your core!

Hoping that they are not done yet.

by ozman777 on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Excellent concert. Axel performed better than i expected. Great to hear several of the older / Bon Scott era songs that i have never heard at their live concerts. it was the 9th time i have seen them in 3 different countries over the last 25 years. Its ranks in the top 2 i've seen. I liked Brian but Axel's voice is somewhat closer to Bon's. Is it possible that Angus is getting even better. No slowing down. And some nice variations in his solos from previous performances. I'm going to Philly on Tuesday to see their last date for this tour. Really hope its not their last for ever.

Disappointing and fell short of expectations. Axl made a strong attempt however it was just not the same. Band seemed sluggish and just slightly "off". Perhaps this is just a result of end of tour fatigue. Either way it wasn't worth the money. We didn't even stay to the endcof the show.,

    3rd time seeing them!

    by Jaykm24 on 9/11/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

I have to say I was sceptical about Axle Rose fronting AC/DC but I was wrong. The energy was phenomenal and the band sounded great! Chris Slade was amazing on drums and Stevie Young played with power and hit on point every time. Overall it was history in the making. One of the best concerts I have seen. I still miss Brian Johnson and hopefully he gets better and back for at least one more show.

    AC/DC Great as ever!!!

by Jimbo2699 on 9/11/16Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

I, like many were skeptical when I heard about Axl stepping in for Brian, but I have to admit that he done a great job. In a set of 2 hours I only noticed a few mistakes. It was good to hear some of the songs that they have not been doing live for a long time. Angus was the show as usual. I hope that they are not finished touring.

    Axle delivers da goods!

by Talon1189 on 9/11/16Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills

2 1/2 hours of pure rock heaven. Axle impressed the crowd with his versatility. I saw AC/DC with Brian Johnson last year. Axle really held his own while taking care not to showboat Angus and his impressive animated guitar show. Light show was great, sound was awesome and the song list was incredible. This show loses nothing from the past with Axe singing in place of Johnson. Angus and Axle really enjoyed themselves together. Axle knew when to step back and let Angus work the crowd with his impressive duck walks and guitar shredding. This is the 3rd time seeing AC/DC and probably the best because it was 4 songs longer than last years show for the same price.

    Angus/DC

by DaBomMom on 9/9/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

I must say the show was awesome! Angus definitely steals the show and we were amazed at his ability to rock out after all these years! It became a bit of the Angus show at times which left us missing the other band members. Axel Rose was surprisingly great as a lead singer; so much better than we expected. In fact, we felt like he was being held back and not allowed to really get out there and let go. If they just let Axel do his thing, the show would have been completely AMAZING!!!!

    AC/DC SHOOK Philips Arena, Atlanta!!!

    by 1Tat2Lady on 9/8/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

What an amazing night! Axl Rose surprised a lot of people. He done good. This was a dream concert for our 21 year old daughter, who's been an AC/DC fan since the age of 7. It was everything I hoped it would be---Rosie, the bell, and of course the cannons. Don't let age fool you---these guys still ROCK. There was definitely no problems hearing them, they were LOUD. If you have the chance to see these guys before they are no more, then jump on it. You won't be disappointed!

    Return to Relevancy

    by jericho2u on 9/8/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

By bringing in Axl Rose to front the band in Brian Johnson's stead, AC/DC made this show relevant again. I loved Bon, & I love Brian, but Axl hit every note... every growl... every "Yeayeah!," etc... in ways that Brian hasn't been able to for 30 years. It was my son's first rock concert, & his immediate comment was, "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen," while wearing a huge grin on his face. If you miss this show, you're robbing yourself of history.

    AC/DC still has it!

by JamiAtlanta on 9/8/16Philips Arena - Atlanta

Had a blast. Missed Brian Johnson but Axel was an amazing stand in! He sounded great and didn't take over the stage. I thought he allowed Angus to be the focus ...which to us super fans IS the star. I felt he had great respect for the band members but was still entertaining. I wish they were here two nights so I could have gone again!

Loudest and one of the best concerts

by BWaj on 9/8/16Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

After the initial show was cancelled, my wife and I were disappointed. But when Axl Rose came back and they rescheduled the dates, we couldn't wait to checkout AC/DC for the first time ever. And boy were they good! Axl does a terrific job of subbing for Brian Johnson but some of the signature songs like Dirty Deeds were tricky for Axl. It was the loudest concert we ever went to and our ears were ringing two days after the concert. Thoroughly entertained and would definitely watch them again.

    Worth the wait

by Anonymous on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

I became an AC/DC fan because of hockey although I've always loved much of their music. We were skeptical of Axl Rose stepping into the mix when Johnson's hearing issues took him away from the tour. I can honestly say, Axl rocked !!!

    ACDC Always Great

Axl did justice to the Band and knocked it out of the park. Of course, it would be good to see Brian back.

    AC/DC rocks out!

    by CK1980 on 9/7/16Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Same show for the most part from the past but an excellent amount of older stuff they don't normally play. Damnation, RiffRaff, If you want blood you got it, are not their concert staples. Axyl actually does the Bon Scott originals as well if not better than Brian Johnson. But of course you miss Brian on all of his standards. Meanwhile Angus is AC/DC. Always has been and always will be. As long as he is on the guitar they will rock!
