About

AC/DC IN CONCERT:

With dozens of driving anthems and countless epic concerts under their belt, AC/DC has become one of the most successful and recognizable hard rock bands ever. Powerhouse numbers like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black" get ticket buyers headbanging along from the first few iconic chords, while a pyrotechnic stage show complete with fireworks, Jumbotrons, and stacks of cranked amplifiers ensures the whole arena sees, hears, and feels the thunder from start to finish. Legendary duck-walking guitarist Angus Young keeps crowds pumped with his relentless energy, doling out crushing riffs and lightning-fast licks with swagger to spare. And on the 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, special guest vocalist Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses steps in to lend his trademark range to AC/DC's earth-shaking sound, bringing a new edge to their larger-than-life performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young got the name AC/DC from the back of their sister Margret's sewing machine ñ the same one she used to sew the campy Catholic schoolboy uniform Angus used to wear on stage. The fledgling hard rockers started making a name for themselves in small Australian clubs in 1973, but things truly started to take off when they hooked up with wild-man singer Bon Scott the following year. Sadly, tragedy struck a few years later following the international success of 1979's Highway to Hell when Scott died after a night of heavy drinking. Encouraged by the support of the late singer's parents, the group doggedly carried on with new frontman Brian Johnson to complete work on their next album, Back in Black. Since its 1980 release, that album has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide on the back of quintessential rock staples like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells," and the title track. The band maintained a steady recording and touring schedule for the next three decades before health issues began to take their toll. First Malcolm Young was forced to retire in 2014 with Parkinson's disease, then hearing loss sidelined Brian Johnson midway through their 2016 Rock or Bust Tour. AC/DC announced that Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose would finish the tour in Johnson's place, while the latter explored hearing aids that would allow him to rejoin the group in the future without further damaging his hearing (happily he noted that he'll still be able to record music). This never-say-die attitude over the past 40 plus years has further glorified AC/DC's legend for fans, who know they'll rock the stage no matter what.

Amazing! Angus was unbeatable as always. Axl was not bad, although his voice sounds sometimes shouting. Nevertheless it was an unforgettable show!

If you had any doubts about Axl's ability to deliver with this band, then be assured you have nothing to worry about. They performed brilliantly over two hours and ten minutes.

Axl's performance of AC/DC's songs was incredible!!! He is killing it!!! I'm a Gunner all the way, but listen to all kinds of rock. It was great to see him do something different and do it well. AC/DC songs are iconic. Everyone knows them, including Axl. You can tell he prepped for this all the way!!!

by asav247 on 9/18/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Axl isn't Brian Johnson but he held his own. Angus carried the show anyway. ac dc still gets it done. Great show. Worst seats I've ever had though.

    Loved it!

by Cinful1968 on 9/18/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Show was great! Axl sounded amazing, I was surprised he didn't front the show more, but he did a really respectful job of just filling in for the singer. He let Angus be the front man. I'm not ready for AC/DC to be done, but I think they will be. I hope Angus goes on to do some solo projects, maybe play with some really great musicians on his own. So glad I was at this show.

    AC/DC just awesome!

by ChrisRocks14all on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

AC/DC show was great! Just straight up good hard rock n roll show at MSG. Place was full. setlist list was great 13 Bon Scott era songs of the 24 played. Angus & the band look like they still enjoy playing. Axl was fantastic! Blends in very well with this group. Especially loved him on the Bon Scott stuff. I would not be surprised to hear he suggested more of the older stuff from the Scott era

    Another great show

by Anguswannabee on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Just when you think they are done, Axel does an incredible job of sounding like Bon and enough like Brian to give one more unforgettable show, doing More Bon songs and you could see the fun Angus and Axel we're having. If they never wrote a new anything, the live renditions of these classics are Just fun and great rock and roll and a night to remember. Please don't stop.

    AC/DC can still bring it!

by cdca on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I admittedly had my doubts about Axl Rose when he replaced the irreplaceable Brian Johnson. But I have to admit that he nailed it! The show was strong, full of energy, and the singing was fantastic. Both eras were covered smoothly and Axl did his job. If this was the last time to ever see them live, I can say truthfully it was memorable and a great way for them to call it a career, especially under their admittedly difficult circumstances.

by Sonny316 on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

The 1st time I saw ACDC was in 1977 when they opened for Ted Nugent @ MSG.They were awesome then and still rocking hard 39 years later.I see them every time they come to NY/NJ. Angus never disappoints !! I was a little sceptical of Axel Rose but he rocked the Garden too !!

    Out of this World!!

by jazjme on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

This was by far the BEST AC/DC concert I have ever gotten to see. I've seen them numerous times thru the years since the 1980s, and I love Brian don't get me wrong, but Axl Slayed the Garden, he was absolutely out of this world vocally, and also very humble and mindful of who's show it really was. But he brought it, and it was so great to hear some of the classics that have been missing thru the years. Only 2 shows left if you can see it see it, it may be the last time .

    AC/DC Awesome Show...Must See!

by DiMck on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

The show was awesome. They sounded great. Axl was right on! He sounded amazing and pulled it off beautifully. Angus was so impressive....the guy is 61 and rocks out like he's 25! Just an amazing show. The canons "For those about to Rock", the blow up of "Rosie" lightning for Thunderstruck, all great stuff. If you're na AC/DC fan you'll be thoroughly satisfied with this show!

With over 20 ACDC concerts under my belt-#2

by Musicmaniswhatiam on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I've seen AC/DC over 20 times over the years all the way to the first row and I have to say this is the very best number one or number two show I have ever seen. The energy that Axle brought was insane and for the first time he appeared very happy and at peace with what he was doing versus the days of guns and roses where it always seem contentious. If this was a once-in-a-lifetime we're he's singing I will be disappointed but I am very happy to of been in the 10th row and have a great video to remember this for a lifetime. I'd like to thank AC/DC and axle Rose. In reference to the seats I sold the originals and picked up 10th row.

Every song I loved the most was played and Angus did not disappoint at all. Took a couple songs for axel to warm up, but he did a great job and blended right in. Wish I could see them over and over again.

    Amazing-one of the best ever!

by justkc on 9/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I have been going to concerts for almost 40 years, and this was easily one of the tope 3. No bs banter to rile up the crowd, just good old rock and roll for 2 1/2 hours. Axl Rose was a very welcome substitute for Brian Johnson, and wisely took a back seat to Angus Young. They played a great mix of their hits from the Bon Scott era right through their most current album, Rock or Bust. Great show, great time, great, great!
