About

AC/DC IN CONCERT:

With dozens of driving anthems and countless epic concerts under their belt, AC/DC has become one of the most successful and recognizable hard rock bands ever. Powerhouse numbers like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black" get ticket buyers headbanging along from the first few iconic chords, while a pyrotechnic stage show complete with fireworks, Jumbotrons, and stacks of cranked amplifiers ensures the whole arena sees, hears, and feels the thunder from start to finish. Legendary duck-walking guitarist Angus Young keeps crowds pumped with his relentless energy, doling out crushing riffs and lightning-fast licks with swagger to spare. And on the 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, special guest vocalist Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses steps in to lend his trademark range to AC/DC's earth-shaking sound, bringing a new edge to their larger-than-life performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young got the name AC/DC from the back of their sister Margret's sewing machine ñ the same one she used to sew the campy Catholic schoolboy uniform Angus used to wear on stage. The fledgling hard rockers started making a name for themselves in small Australian clubs in 1973, but things truly started to take off when they hooked up with wild-man singer Bon Scott the following year. Sadly, tragedy struck a few years later following the international success of 1979's Highway to Hell when Scott died after a night of heavy drinking. Encouraged by the support of the late singer's parents, the group doggedly carried on with new frontman Brian Johnson to complete work on their next album, Back in Black. Since its 1980 release, that album has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide on the back of quintessential rock staples like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells," and the title track. The band maintained a steady recording and touring schedule for the next three decades before health issues began to take their toll. First Malcolm Young was forced to retire in 2014 with Parkinson's disease, then hearing loss sidelined Brian Johnson midway through their 2016 Rock or Bust Tour. AC/DC announced that Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose would finish the tour in Johnson's place, while the latter explored hearing aids that would allow him to rejoin the group in the future without further damaging his hearing (happily he noted that he'll still be able to record music). This never-say-die attitude over the past 40 plus years has further glorified AC/DC's legend for fans, who know they'll rock the stage no matter what.

The group has been around for some time, but they still know how to Rock the Crowd! They had lots of energy and the crowd totally responded. The pyro techs and the props were fantastic. Great show! Highly recommend seeing this group, wicked cool!

    AC/DC still rocks!!!

by CobraLaw on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

The last time I saw AC/DC was in 1979 when Bon Scott was still alive. 30 years later I finally got to see them again, and they were absolutely phenomenal! This 47-year-old felt like a 17-year-old again! These guys are a MUST-SEE!!!

    AC/DC - still the best

by coachl on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

I've seen these guys 9 times (going back 25 years) and they just don't slow down. Angus runs around all night blazing riffs like a demon and the rest of the band play as tight a set as ever. I'm hoping they come back again sooner than last time.

Hardest working band in the business

by Gearbox on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

AC DC puts on an unmatched show. These guys work harder than anyone and give the fans a show worth every penny of the ticket price. Surrounded by a huge stage, thousands of lights, 4 large screens, and a 300' catwalk and podium for Angus, this band rocks hard for nearly two hours. Playing songs from numerous albums and hitting every fan favorite, AC DC sounds as good now as they did 30 years ago. If you can get to a stadium during the final run, lock up you daughter, lock up your wife, and run to buy a ticket now. It will be a show you remember and use as a benchmark to measure all others.

    ACDC was GREAT!

by webby on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

Overall I thought that the show was great. They sounded great and Angus Young was right on the money with the his guitar solo. The only thing that I was disappointed with was that I thought that they would have done more hits like Who Made Who as well as other hits. I do recommend seeing them and I am VERy glad I went!

    AC/DC show was a blast!

by ACDCRockFan on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

This was my first time seeing them. The show was very enjoyable. Makes me want to see them again for sure. Can't believe the energy level. The only downside was the volume of the vocals - could have been a bit louder.

    It was an AC/DC show.

    by maboot38 on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

The band, as usual, delivered exactly what they promise...a high energy rock and roll good time. Their performance was exactly what you would expect. Brian screamed his heart out and Angus put on his usual spectacle. They get an A. Set design for this tour is great. I love the train setup. The lighting was perfect and the fireworks at the end really ended things on a high note. The sound mixing, however, came close to ruining the show. It was poorly mixed, with midrange sticking out much more than the high frequencies and the low frequencies, to the point where it took longer than usual to figure out what song was being performed. I would give the house sound guy a solid C- (as it is difficult to make a show in a venue like Gilette sound good at every seat).

    Angus Rocks!!!

by Daventray on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

From start to finish ACDC was absolutely one of the best bands we have seen in years. I have seen them in performance on TV and thought yeah this was probably a special event theres no way they use that much energy for every concert, but let me tell you, They totally rocked!! Song line up was the perfect mix of old and new, and helped us to decided to hear the whole new album not just what has been played on the radio. Angus totally blew me away with his solo performance. That guy has the energy of young child and an amazing relatioship with a his guitar. We loved every second of it! And the fireworks at the end were great too! Helped ease the rush of traffic as some stayed to see them and others headed out.

    AC-DC Show was Awesome

    by Marcus123 on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

I brought my 12 year old son for his first concert and it was a night to remember. A perfect summer night. The band was on for 2+ hours playing all their great old songs along with some off of the new album "Black Ice". Angus palyed like a 20 year old with all the energy the band is famous for. For the opening song Rock and Roll Train a full size locomotive crashes through the back of the stage to start of the song. Awesome!

    ACDC - Rocking Boston Again!!

by HairbandMama on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

The show was better than I thought it was going to be! I had seen ACDC in the 80s - The Fly On Wall Tour - and all the songs brought me back!! For a bunch of guys in their 60s - these guys kicked #$%! Well worth the money for the tickets!! This might be their last tour - but plenty of Boston Fans came out of te woodwork last night!

    AC/DC rocked Gillette Stadium!

    by F1rstT1mer on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

The concert was supposed to start at 6 PM, but the opening act did not even begin until 6:45. However, Answer (a terrific Irish band) got everyone in the mood. After their short set, there was another band (Anvil ... who IMO were not as good as Answer, but went on longer). It wasn't until about 8:45 that we got to see who we came to see. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!! The intro video took the crowd into peals of delight and with a cannon blast, the music was ON. This was my first concert ever and I was attending with my son. We had a blast!!!

    HIgh Voltage

    by 911turbocab on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

My last concert with them was the Fly on the Wall tour in the old Boston Garden. IMO they have not lost a step. Angus didn't take a break the entire time and was ripping it like he was 25. They did an excellent job of balancing new material with the classics and never had a let down in the energy. It was clear as I walked out of the stadium that they are one of the greatest live bands of all time and I will deifnitely be there next time around. Truly fantastic.

    Simply Awesome

by noahandjacobsmom on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

What a great show!!!! The perfect venue - perfect weather - fantastic performance!!! Can't say the same for the opening bands - The Answer left a lot to be desired and now I know why Anvil never became stars. But AC/DC put on the best show ever. Great energy - great song selection - JUST GREAT!!!! Brought my 9 & 11 year old sons to the show - it was their first concert - they were so psyched. Good mix of songs from the Black Ice album as well as the classics. The encore was amazing - ended with For Those About to Rock - cannons and fireworks. While I hated to spend $35 a t-shirt - this was well worth the cost of the ticket. An AMAZING show.

    Un Freakin' believeable

by angusfan on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

3rd time I have seen ACDC and this show was BY FAR the best performace they have put on. The almost 20 minute guitar solo that Angus shredded near the end was mind blowing. I saw them just 7 months ago and they were good then but even better this time around.
