About

AC/DC IN CONCERT:

With dozens of driving anthems and countless epic concerts under their belt, AC/DC has become one of the most successful and recognizable hard rock bands ever. Powerhouse numbers like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black" get ticket buyers headbanging along from the first few iconic chords, while a pyrotechnic stage show complete with fireworks, Jumbotrons, and stacks of cranked amplifiers ensures the whole arena sees, hears, and feels the thunder from start to finish. Legendary duck-walking guitarist Angus Young keeps crowds pumped with his relentless energy, doling out crushing riffs and lightning-fast licks with swagger to spare. And on the 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, special guest vocalist Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses steps in to lend his trademark range to AC/DC's earth-shaking sound, bringing a new edge to their larger-than-life performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young got the name AC/DC from the back of their sister Margret's sewing machine ñ the same one she used to sew the campy Catholic schoolboy uniform Angus used to wear on stage. The fledgling hard rockers started making a name for themselves in small Australian clubs in 1973, but things truly started to take off when they hooked up with wild-man singer Bon Scott the following year. Sadly, tragedy struck a few years later following the international success of 1979's Highway to Hell when Scott died after a night of heavy drinking. Encouraged by the support of the late singer's parents, the group doggedly carried on with new frontman Brian Johnson to complete work on their next album, Back in Black. Since its 1980 release, that album has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide on the back of quintessential rock staples like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells," and the title track. The band maintained a steady recording and touring schedule for the next three decades before health issues began to take their toll. First Malcolm Young was forced to retire in 2014 with Parkinson's disease, then hearing loss sidelined Brian Johnson midway through their 2016 Rock or Bust Tour. AC/DC announced that Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose would finish the tour in Johnson's place, while the latter explored hearing aids that would allow him to rejoin the group in the future without further damaging his hearing (happily he noted that he'll still be able to record music). This never-say-die attitude over the past 40 plus years has further glorified AC/DC's legend for fans, who know they'll rock the stage no matter what.

ACDC Still Rocks after 36 years...

by ThomVF on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

I took my 3 boys (11, 13, 15), who all love ACDC. These guys gave it all and still sound amazing. It was one of the best shows I have seen. The sound system seemed a little shaky on the lead vocals but the show itself was amazing. These guys have been on tour all around the world this year but it didnt slow them down last night. Angus was on fire as usual. I highly recommend going to see these guys.

    Amazing show!

    by BostonGirl58 on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

This was my first experience with AC/DC live. I have seen one of their tribute bands, Dirty Deeds, many times and loved them so when a friend who loves AC/DC asked me if I wanted to go I took him up on it. Angus' energy throughout the night was absolutely amazing considering the serious humidity going on in the area. They put on a spectacular show and never lost touch with the crowd and kept the energy up right until the firework ending. Would love to see them again!

    AC/DC awesome, parking a nightmare

    by hegemony2718 on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

The best concert I've ever been to, these guys still rock like they were 20 years old. I brought my 3 sons, 15, 12, and 8 years old and they loved it too. Gillette stadium has to do something about the parking, it took 2.5 hours just to get out of the parking lot!!!

Still HOT after all these years!

by KSWANK on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

OK....I have wanted to see ACDC again since I saw them on their North American Tour back in 1978. Back then they opened for the Scorpions and Ted Nugent. What a show last night! Angus proves once again that his ease on the Black Gibson SG is effortless, fast, and blurring. The show was great, the mix was good, and the crowd was on its feet the entire time! Even in the nose-bleed sections....people were engaged. Love it...and would go see them again in a minute. This was my 17 year old son's first ACDC concert and I am sure he will want to go again. Angus was the first influence for him to play guitar; now he knows many of the songs and plays them well. Thanks ACDC for a great show.

    ACDC

    by theredsox333 on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

Simply an amazing show. The openers, The Answer and Anvil, were great and looked like they were having fun despite the house not being full yet. Meanwhile, if the stadium were to have a roof, ACDC would have blown it off. Brain sounded great and Angus was a beast on lead guitar. They each have amazing abilities when working the crowd and getting them worked up. The setlist was full of hits (I owuld have liked Stiff Upper lip or Money Talks) and the sound quality was great. I'd recommend this show to anyone ... especially Aerosmith fans (like myself) who got ripped off this summer.

    AC/DC Still kicks A$$

    by Goalieman82 on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

The show started about an hour later than the tickets said. They had two warm up bands. One from Ireland "the Answer" and another from Canada "Anvil" Anvil was pretty good and the Answer??? I couldn't understand a freakin thing they were singing or saying. And the AC/DC was awsome! They played all there biggest hits and some of the songs from the new Black Ice album. They still rocked out the songs like they did years ago. They also did a fireworks show and the pyrotechnics were great too with the cannons and all. Definately a must see if you get the chance.

    ac/dc still rocks

by jamesr on 7/29/09Gillette Stadium - Foxborough

This band still has it. They played a few songs from their new album, and the rest were the old stuff which was amazing. The opening video of the runaway train was cool. I wish they would tour around this area more often. Awesome show!!!
