Played by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
With performances from AR Rahman and other musicians from India
A world without AR Rahman would be a world without Bollywood.
Described by Time as ‘the world's most prolific and popular composer', the Indian singer, songwriter, composer and philanthropist has influenced every corner of his home country's cinema culture. In this Asia TOPA exclusive, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will perform the Music of AR Rahman, with the superstar himself taking to the stage as special guest.
Fusing the delicate intricacy of eastern classical composition with the innovations of electronic music and the majesty of traditional orchestral arrangements, AR Rahman's music has earned him two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe.
Featuring signature works such as Jai Ho and Slumdog Millionaire Suite, this one-of-a-kind concert will see the MSO joined by international guest soloists S. Navin on flute and Asad Khan on sitar as well as vocal soloists and an epic 30 voice choir.
It was an amazing concert - totally magical! I am looking forward to attending more such concerts in the future!
If you are sitting at the back, you can’t see anything on the stage. The screen behind the artists kept displaying funny graphics, never showed live image of the artists performing. You had to keep guessing. Artists sang a lot of Malayalam songs, which was a huge turn-off for large non-Malayalam audience.
First time I visited a Raptors Game and the second time it was A.R. Rahman Live Concert. The stage only was lit at the Concert while complete darkness on the audience. No foods/beverages being served. I expected the same vibe as a game. Hoped to see the screens at the top being working, but they were turned off making it almost impossible to see the performers on stage.
We could hardly hear AR Rahman himself, vocals were not clear. He song 85% of the concert in Tamil which didn’t do Justin to us who don’t understand it. It was not a sold out concert just because of this I guess .. We couldn’t sell our tickets and unfortunately had to just attend it.. I don’t think I am going next time 😓
It was an amazing concert!!! AR Rahman is a legend!!!
This organizer were in disarray and seats were being upgraded last minute! A lot of chaos and long queues. But when the music started everything was alright. It was totally worth the wait.
Loved everything from sound to light to the amazing songs he choose , to every single person on stage...
It was great. Everything sound, ventillation and obviously the music.
Show was too good...just 1 thing missed..didn't get chance to meet A.R .Rehman
As a young Tamil Canadian born women to see music come to life was magical. Whether it was chayya chayya in Hindi or Humma in Tamil , it was a refreshed sense of pride for me. To be Canadian and hearing music being celebrated with strangers is worth it.
Overall the show and A.R.Rahman's band were amazing! We enjoyed it so much, beside the Scotiabank arena chaos for reallocating our section tickets and not be able to get any snacks, it was fun!
The concert last 2:20 min only . Its not fair at all . The sound system was good AAR was really outstanding but he could continue little longer . Thanks
Concert was amazing. I enjoyed most with the Hindi songs. Since A R Rahman has two group of audiences-Hindi group and Tamil group , I think he should do two concerts -one in Hindi and one in Tamil. 😊
Could not hear vocals very well due to unbalanced audio. The speakers had the bass and treble cranked up too high. Rest of the show was good but I could not really hear too well as I had to cover my ears regularly.
The concert was out of this world. The choice of songs was excellent. The music was mesmerizing. The graphics in the background were amazing. The overall experience was fabulous.
I've been to a lot better concerts, this one wasn't great. As much as I love A R Rahman and was looking forward to hearing him at the concert, I felt disappointed. Sound quality wasn't good Poor energy of the performance And the worst of all was the annoying animation on the screen. Clearly no body took the audiences sitting far back into account. We barely saw anyone's face. Having a projection of the stage on screen would have been helpful instead of showing that stupid irrelevant animation
Scotia Bank Arena is not made for musical concerts. Very poor acoustics. Rahman tried his best to make it up but I would strongly recommend any other venue next time around.
The worlds greatest musician and his team of highly talented performers entertained us, educated us on the various ragas and hindustani music and made us forget the pandemic and its woes for an evening. Thank you.
Phenomenal presentation by so many talented artists. It brought back so many great memories. I loved every minute of the concert. AR Rahman is a true gift.
Beautifully choreographed. Excellent venue staff. All in all a great experience
