Played by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
With performances from AR Rahman and other musicians from India
A world without AR Rahman would be a world without Bollywood.
Described by Time as ‘the world's most prolific and popular composer', the Indian singer, songwriter, composer and philanthropist has influenced every corner of his home country's cinema culture. In this Asia TOPA exclusive, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will perform the Music of AR Rahman, with the superstar himself taking to the stage as special guest.
Fusing the delicate intricacy of eastern classical composition with the innovations of electronic music and the majesty of traditional orchestral arrangements, AR Rahman's music has earned him two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe.
Featuring signature works such as Jai Ho and Slumdog Millionaire Suite, this one-of-a-kind concert will see the MSO joined by international guest soloists S. Navin on flute and Asad Khan on sitar as well as vocal soloists and an epic 30 voice choir.
Phenomenal performance by A.R. Rahman. He captivated the crowd and gave us an outstanding show.
He showed up in time. Good start and best ending and great in between. Enjoyed every moment. House full audience. Every one was having fun. It was well planned. He gave mix of music in few languages. Patriotic song was the most enjoyed. God bless.
The event was so well organized, I would like to mention about the parking, even at the time of leaving, no hassles and no traffic , coz 1000s of cars exiting at the same time and the other thing is crowd management , no crowding near the stage or common walk way , well organized , Food stalls and other refreshments are good ! About the show - show was well organized , played both Hindi n Tamil hit Songs , AR Rahman watching him performing live is a bliss … overall it was a great event , keep it up !
It was an amazing experience – we really enjoyed ourselves! The event was well organized overall. The only small downside was that the music was a bit loud, which made the vocals less clear. Still, a great time!
There is lot of Tamil but lots of Hindi as well. But less Telugu for sure. Overall I enjoyed the concert, Rahman was from beginning to end which is most great part of the show.
Disappointed that no Telugu songs were sung when i am sure >30% of the audience were telugu speaking
Updated: Just came from VA show. He is great and has done great compositions. Loved all his songs growing up. But I have to say false advertisement when it comes to telugu audience. If they start a Tamil song it's finished mostly in Tamil with maybe a hindi verse added.if they start a hindi song, it will finish as a Tamil song even the iconic Vande Mataram that he finished the show with started as a Hindi and finished with Tamil version. There were 2 songs in the 3hr show that started as telugu but after 1 verse the singers switched to Tamil. We had maybe 4 mins of Telugu vocals in a 3hr show. I enjoyed the Hindi versions but maybe just be clear that it's not for Telugu audience. Finally to summarize the show is 70% Tamil, 29% Hindi n 1% Telugu. So make ur choice
Went to see my favorite contemporary music composer and was disappointed by loud noise and poor fidelity. This was at the @Lenovocenter in Raleigh

The concert had an amazing atmosphere and energy. However, just a heads-up — while it was advertised that songs in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi would be performed, Telugu songs made up less than 5% of the 3+ hour concert (around 6 minutes total). If you’re specifically looking forward to Telugu music, it’s good to know that the focus was primarily on Tamil and Hindi tracks.
We got upgraded to ADA on the floor seat when we showed up with our special needs daughter. She enjoyed the concert and had plenty of room to twirl around without disturbing others. We had a great time too.
I attend the Oakland show on July 25. If you only speak Hindi then you may not understand more than half of the show. Majority of his song are in Tamil/Telugu. The overall energy of the show was low. All the songs were sang in full so it felt dragged on most of the time. There were slow songs and that really brought down the energy. I will not be attending any of his shows in the future.
It was quite an experience seeing the legend live. He opened with Bukka Laga Mukka (Yuva) and then Muqabala Muqabala sending heavy excitement through the audience and it was only upwards from there. He had an amazing set list from his extensive discography of tantalizing hits from his old and new albums such as Bombay, Roja, Dil Se, Saathiya, and Rockstar. His co-artists were amazing and filled the shoes of the original vocalists of the recorded versions of the songs quite well; including his son Ameen who is an artist showing a lot of potential. AR Rahman rocked the stage for 3 hours straight even without having nothing to prove to his fans which is almost everyone. He also struck a good balance between his Hindi and the Tamil language art pieces which made people with all kinds of language preferences highly engaged throughout the show. Highly recommend catching this performance live and letting ARR's cosmic music grace your ear drums.
AR Rahman is a rockstar!, and the concert delivered, wow! Just like his music the whole concert experience was above par...the team really made the tickets, trip to the venue, planning around it etc all worth it. Been a fan since the very beginning and even at a concert in 2025 he never ceases to deliver higher than expectations. Great song selection, background production, etc.
The show started 40 min late and ended so late. I had to miss the last 40 min as it did not started the planned way. Otherwise glad to see ARR and his voice
Awesome show, do not miss this one for sure! What a fantastic performance by him. Throughly enjoyed the grand performance!!!
Hello! The show was good, and the ambience was great. They also went above and performed longer, but the song selection could have been better. Most of the songs they performed are not well-known ones; that is the only reason for a 4-star otherwise it was very great!
The concert was fun, but he’s had a much better set list in the past. Didn’t enjoy the choices as much
The concert would have been good if not for the organizing chaos. We had chosen a seat that directly faced the stage. But, that got "upgraded"at the last minute and got a closer side facing seat which in my opinion spoiled the experience.
The venue Tacoma Dome was not great or well prepared for a big crowd. Rest rooms were dirty and most importantly out of any hand wash. As for the set list , it was decent but not focused towards international crowd. Setlist was mostly focused on Tamil Naru based songs. Not worth the money.
