  • It's a Christmas Miracle!

by SandyClause on 12/17/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Loved, loved, loved A Christmas Carol! My husband has never had the opportunity to see it and was totally blown away. Ira David Wood is amazing and hilarious as Scrooge. Well worth the price.

  • Christmas Carol is still wonderful!

by BeamBeam on 12/17/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Been coming since 1987 (not every year) and still love this adaption of Christmas Carol. When I first attended show in 1987 I worried about my 6 year old seeing it since the ghosts can be pretty frightening in the usual showing of Christmas Carol. Imagine my shock AND delight to see Ira David Wood's rendition. Wonderful, wonderful and therapeutically great for all the laughs I got.

  • A Christmas Carol - so good!!

by dgk1954 on 12/17/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

This show has become a vital part of our family celebration of Christmas. The 2013 production was great! Loved the Ghost of Christmas Future - Uncle Si, and his sidekick Willie!

  • Best Holiday tradition ever!

by Luvthescrooge on 12/17/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I was turned on to this play 15 years ago and have not missed one since. Ira Wood's portrayal of Scrooge has been an essential part of my family's Christmas by warming our hearts through laughter and reminding us of the joy of the season. The reason for the season is not lost! We also have fun trying to predict which current events will be wrapped into the story. A true must see if you are in the Raleigh area. After seeing Ira Wood, I can not watch another Scrooge!

This was our forth time together and we both agreed this was the best. It's just outstanding every year. If you have never been you need to go.

  • Move over Radio City Music Hall

by Fionacat on 12/16/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This is a fantastic musical!! The writing, the cast, and the Center itself are superb!! Didn't know such incredible talent was so close to where I live. Radio City has nothing on Theatre in the Park!!

  • Event was Amazing, but seats were double-booked!

by Anonymous on 12/16/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the musical -- it was lovely, as usual. I laughed and cried and loved the jokes that Mr. Wood inserts each year. Unfortunately, the seats that were sold to us (and 6 others around us) were double-booked. This led to a customer-unfriendly experience just before the curtain came up.

Nothing compares! It begins Christmas for my family. The music, costumes, the acting, and Scrooge are outstanding!!!!!

My husband and I attended this produvtion on Dec. 13th. I thought it was long and had a hard time understanding some of the humor.

  • Christmas spirit rush!

by TeamIRAIV on 12/16/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

There is no better way to kick start your Christmas spirit than by experiencing Ira David Wood III's "A Christmas Carol." The music, acting, laughter and dancing are magical and when Scrooge quietly sings "Noel," I tear up every time I see this production which is in its 39th year. I like the surprise from the Lamplighter this year which seemed very fitting and added a bit more magic. Bravo!

  • A Christmas carol that never fails.

by Fields55 on 12/16/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was our 34th year going to A Christmas Carol. It brings us joy, laughter, and tears but mostly it is the start of Christmas for our family that now includes a third generation with our grandchildren. thank you Ira David Wood and all the cast and crew for their dedication and hard work year after year.

  • A Christmas Carol was awesome!

by Bluedabble on 12/15/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed it! Amazing talent, great song selections, great message of the true meaning of Christmas with just enough current satire to make a very enjoyable evening! I laughed till I cried! There were a few scenes we could have done without, but overall, very family friendly and very meaningful! Hope to go again next year! I bought a raffle ticket for a chance to win the 4 free seats on opening night!! I also got a raffle ticket for Scrooges teddy bear! Great night, smile just thinking about it!

  • very good

by dotdash on 12/15/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

First night was very good. The production was excellent as usual. I thought the jokes needed a little tweaking. Perhaps a little louder and a little more time to catch the punch line, but overall it was a great work of of people willing to give their best for the Carole!

  • Scrooge, Always Great

by CamelMom on 12/15/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Once again, Ira David Wood and Company were excellent. The new 2013 jokes were appropriate, funny and often unexpected. Yet, they also left many of the 'old' jokes in place and they were as funny as years before. We think this was our 14th year to attend and are looking forward to 2014's 40th anniversary.

  • A CHRISTMAS CAROL

PLAY IS ALWAYS VERY ENJOYABLE, BUT I THOUGHT THIS YEAR'S CAST AND PRODUCTION WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND.
