  • Christmas @DPAC

by Anonymous on 12/18/16DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Ira David Wood III delivered on Opening night at DPAC. Being a native North Carolinian for over a half a century, You'd think I must live under a rock if in all those years i had never experience IDW3's politicly slapstick adaptations of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol". Well friends, he did not dissapoint. Open the wallet and grab a seat up front!

  • Puts the bah in humbug

I think one needed to have boarded this train 2 decades ago to be swept up in whatever charm there may have been. Today -iIt's simply awful. It's the Plan 9 from Outer Space of it's kind. We had expectations. They were not met.

This was not advertised or marketed as a comedy and it certainly was not family oriented. We left at intermission feeling very much duped.

  • Amazing as Usual!!

by JeanneJollyFan on 12/14/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was our Christmas present to each other - 3 gals that have been best friends for over 20 years. One of us had never seen "A Christmas Carol" before so this was especially special for her. Great show!! Never tire of the beautiful sets, costumes, and, of course, the "current events" thrown in!! Amazing from start to finish!! Thank you, Ira David Wood, III, for this wonderful annual event!

by sj4jeff on 12/13/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to "A Christmas Carol" probably 35 of the 42 years. As a Music teacher, I had several students in the production early on. I went to see them and was hooked. I love the updated story and the music. Ira David Wood III does a great job. My daughter and I have been going together since she was a toddler. She is now 23 and we will continue to look forward to going to CC for many years to come.

by MainMane on 12/13/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I used to go see A Christmas Carol every year with friends when I lived here in the late 80's! I was able to go with my family this year and we all loved it! It was just as good as I remembered! I hope it will be a family tradition now!

  • A Christmas Carol...a gift we all need!!

by Linz1984 on 12/13/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

A Christmas Carol this year was just what we needed! A wonderful reminder of our ability to reflect and remember and make positive change. All so carefully presented in beautiful song, humor and some tender moments.

  • Best Way to start Christmas

by Fields55 on 12/13/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This is our 37th year going to the Christmas Carol. Most talented cast around. Ira David is a master and now so is his son. An old story with a new twist but in the end the same result. Not only does Scrooge find his Christmas spirit but so does the audience.

  • Great Every Year

by StaffordP on 12/12/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I first went to this play in 2008 and thought it was fantastic. I went every year since save the last two years because we had a newborn. HOwever this year is the first year we took our daughter to see the play and it changes every year to fit the goings on in the world. The play is entertaining, funny and captures the true meaning of Christmas.

  • Great production of an old story!

by BobbyAH on 12/11/16Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

After many years hearing about this great production written by Ira David Wood III, my wife and I attended this performance. The music and comedy was beyond belief, and beyond my expectations. The show is a great musical with many participants in singing and dancing, along with comedy segments that include current events. You have to experience the show to understand how well done and entertaining it is. Ira David Wood's "A Christmas Carol" defies description.

We have seen the Christmas Carol for over 30 years. We plan to attend every year, this funny, thought provoking, professional and entertaining production. Every character came to life, in the musical comedy which we recommend to everyone, regardless of age. Thanks to Ira David for producing this plan and for making us laugh and cry.

Me and 3 of my children ages 10,10, and 12 went to see this. It was the first time they saw it, and the acts kept them attentive, and laughing the whole time, which is great with 10 yr olds!!
