    Immense Talent, but storyline lacking

by NikkiG on 11/27/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

I'll start by saying that I don't have any sentimental feelings towards Charlie Brown, nor did I watch it as a kid. It just happened to be a show that I could take my 4 year old to that was local. For that reason it did not hold much interest to myself, husband, or our child. But regardless of having any past with the show, the storyline was really boring. However, the actors were clearly immensely talented. The dancing and the vocals were really top notch. The costumes and set design was pretty good. Overall, I'd say that if you actually like Charlie Brown its worth seeing, otherwise skip.

The show exemplified the true meaning of Christmas

by cathy on 11/27/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

We all loved It! A great way to begin Advent and get ready for Christmas! All of the traditional Christmas Carols made the show!! The true meaning of Christmas and keeping Christ at the center was my favorite thing!!

    A wonderful show

by Michael L on 11/27/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

This show was phenomenal. The production company was able to stretch a half hour TV movie into an enjoyable 90 minute event. It was great to not only watch my child enjoy the production, but also feel the beauty that was this production. I will definitely see this again if possible.

    Loudness

by Jess on 12/23/22The Stanley - Utica

The show was adorable, the seats were great, and my nephew had a great time. My only complaint is that parts of the play were ear-piercing loud and screechy. Don't know if it was an issue with the sound level, where our seats were, or the performers themselves...probably a combo of the three. All-in-all, a great time!!

    Terrible

by JM on 12/23/22The Stanley - Utica

More like a junior high school performance rather than professionals. Snoopy costume was dreadful.

    Wonderful show

by Tuxey on 12/7/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I loved that the show followed the original Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon. I knew the script word for word! We also loved the extra songs and dancing. My only complaint is I didn't like the casting of Lucy. I felt she over acted and her voice was too high pitch. I get that it is on the stage but she did not fulfill my expectation of Lucy. She did a great job but just not what I expected.

by Deborah on 12/7/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Pre reserved parking via Parkwhiz. This was great! Navigation to seating wasn’t bad. Brought granddaughter popcorn and toy priced as expected The actual play was very well done the singing and dancing was great. It keep my 5 year old granddaughter’s attention and that was what it was all about for me

    Charlie Brown with hair?

by Jim on 12/7/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Why on earth did the Charlie Brown character have hair? I heard many people around us asking the same question to others they were sitting with. The music and dancing was very good. Actors did a great job with their roles.

    Pretty Good Show

by Mp on 12/7/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The show was pretty good. Not quite enough entertainment to keep my young kids entertained. The worst part was the venue. Normally, when you go to a show you cannot go in once the show starts. There was a half hour of people coming in after the show started and blocking our view as they stood in the aisle trying to find your seats. Very distracted and upsetting!

    A Charlie Brown Christmas

by Paulie on 12/7/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The Broadway-style Musical Play, A Charlie Brown Christmas is fun for all ages. The audience was composed of Families with Kids and Adults with no Kids at all ! The score is wonderful ! The trio (Keys, String Bass, Drums) were young men who played on stage. The String Man and Piano Man also played Characters in the Peanuts Gang. Singers/Dancers did both singing & dancing with expertise. Paulie is confident you will love the show.

    I was disappointed.

    by Dana on 12/3/22

I went expecting something better. The characters were difficult for me to identify so, I’m sure the children were wondering where the characters they are used to seeing were. They could have had Disney style costumes on the main characters to make this more enjoyable. It came across as someone playing a character rather than the character actually performing for the audience.

    Fun holiday event

by Mickie on 12/2/22Stephens Auditorium - Ames

It wasn't really what we were expecting. It was more dancing & singing than acting out of the play. They did a nice job, and it was fun, but we probably wouldn't go see it again.

    Great show!

by Mama x12 on 12/2/22Stephens Auditorium - Ames

My husband and I brought our three oldest children to the show (ages 6, 7, 9) and we all loved it! It included humorous and poignant scenes and held true to the original Charlie Brown story with some embellishments. The only thing I didn’t like was related to the venue, not the show. I hate it when venues won’t allow you to bring in your own snacks and water. We have a lot of food allergies in our family so it can be difficult to find suitable options when out and about. And it’s just stupid to me to pay exorbitant prices for bottled water when bringing a refillable water bottle is basically free!

    A Charlie Brown Christmas

by Maritza on 11/30/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

This live show was amazing to watch with my boyfriend, his cousins and mom. It was an amazing show not only for the children, but adults as well.

    It was just OK

by Mags on 11/28/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

The end of show was def the better part of show. Singing Christmas carols was nice. But the show itself was a bit boring. The costumes could have been better done. Would not recommend.

    Good show, blocked view

by Ashley on 11/28/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

It was a good show, but our view was blocked by the piano. Saw half the show. Would love some money back for having such an obstructed view. Many people in our section left. Shame bc the performers were talented.

    Disappointed until the End

by Dani on 12/21/21The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

Nothing in the title or write up mentioned anything about this play being a musical. We expected a few songs in the play but pretty much the whole thing was acted out musically. I was also disappointed in the costumes or lack there of. Snoopy was a disappointment. Costume not very good and he just basically danced around the whole time. My 14 year old son commented before it started that if Charlie Brown had hair, he was outta there. The only thing that identified him was the zig zag marking on his shirt. We really didn't know who half the characters were, just a bunch of dancing girls in dresses. The only character that I have to commend was Lucy. She was quite dramatic with her performance which at least put some humor into the play. I gave the play 2 stars because we all appreciated that it didn't leave out "the true meaning of Christmas". Linus explained about baby Jesus and they even did a reenactment of the entire birth of Jesus. Definitely applauded that and sticking with the real true meaning of Christmas which I teach my kids. Thank you for that!

    Great show but NO parking

    by S. C. on 12/14/21Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

Show was so great! Our family really enjoyed it. Although, it would've been more enjoyable if the venue would've offered handicapped parking, or even closer parking. We brought our disabled child and elderly mother who has health issues. I was dropped off with my child and mother at their side entrance while my husband parked the car. We walked up and found out the entrance was closed so we had to take the long and cold walk to the front of the theater. This was ever so disappointing and frustrating and really impacted our time at the show. When asked one of the Akron Civic Staff, they said we close it sometimes and sometimes we have it opened. I will most likely NOT be back to this venue because of the parking situation. This is so sad and disappointing to me as our family would love to start getting out more and supporting local venues, but this place will not be on our list any longer.
