About

Critically acclaimed and multi-platinum band Young the Giant returns with their brand new single "Wake Up". The song marks the first glimpse into the group's imminent fifth studio release, American Bollywood. The new material will be released throughout 2022 as a series of four acts titled: Origins, Exile, Battle and Denouement. "Wake Up" is the band's return from the 2018 album Mirror Master which included their single "Superposition" which reached #1 on US Alternative Charts. Young The Giant was established in 2004 and is comprised of Sameer Gadhia (vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Francois Comtois (drums) and Payam Doostzadeh (bass). The band first broke through with their 2010 self-titled debut album, which featured the RIAA-Multi platinum certified hits, "My Body" and "Cough Syrup". This was followed by the release of 2014's Mind Over Matter, which was both a commercial and critical success. Young the Giant continued to brave new themes and sonic landscapes with their wildly adventurous third album, Home of the Strange. The New York Times proclaimed Lead Singer Sameer Gadhia, "one of the great contemporary rock voices." The band has sold out performances at historic venues such as Radio City Music Hall, The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, and more. They have become a festival mainstay at high profile outings such as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Governor's Ball among others.

    Greek Needs Improvement

    by YTGuy on 8/20/23

Drinks way too pricy. Food’s last call was way too early. Was hoping for how big the theater stage area there would be more lights etc. Bands sounded great like usual - ytg’s performance felt short but overall was great. I’ve seen them 5 times now, but this one felt like they were going through the motion and not stoked. MC on the other hand was there to party and really took control of the crowd.

    Summer Concert

    by JujuBee on 8/20/23

We watched Young the Giant at the Greek Theater on August 17, 2023. The cooler weather was a welcome relief from the summer heatwave we were experiencing in the valley. We grabbed a hot dog, pretzel and hard ciders which for the most part good, except for the soggy wrinkled pretzel. The opening act was Rosa Linn and she had a great voice! Next up was Milky Chance and they did an amazing job of getting the crowd energized. I’m now a new fan of their music. Young the Giant took stage at 9 pm and are amazing to listen to live. I was drawn in by the fun & whimsical set theme, the lighting and sound were superb, and they played for 1 hour and 1 encore. Had a great time except for a chatty Dad sitting behind us talking through all the sets. Grrr!

Young the Giant is an INCREDIBLE show! Molly chance as the opener was less than stellar but woooow YTG blew me away. The energy, vocals, and music was absolutely phenomenal. Do not miss this band!

    fantastic show

    by emma on 8/20/23

milky chance and young the giant were both fantastic performers. I think the show started too early though- would have preferred 7:30 or 8pm start and for the show to run an hour later.

    Milky Chance was amazing!!

    by Ken on 8/20/23

Funny story, never paid any attention when booking tickets for this concert, thought i was going to see Milky Chance. Not until we were entering the arena did we realize that they weren't the main act. In fact we argued with the some people outside that they had to have got their info wrong as Milky Chance is much bigger than Young the Giant. Concert was awesome , all 3 acts were very good. But Milky Chance surpassed the others, hands down. You could see the crowd was there for Milky Chance too. It must have been hard for YTG to deal with the high from the past act and have to try and build the crowd higher. They did a great job but they weren't able to. It's not their fault, just the order of the bands needed to be swapped out. Only disappointment was that because Milky Chance wasn't the main act there set wasn't as long as it would be if they had been.

    by SharinAirNSun on 8/20/23

Young the Giant were so amazing. High energy throughout, stunning vocals, band sounded great! They played all their hits and more. Sweet crowd sing-a-longs and touching lighter/ flashlight moments. Milky Chance was an outstanding opener. Every song is a good vibe. Danced and sang along. Fans were cool. Venue was spectacular- Greek Theater in Berkeley.

The Greek is the best venue

    by Rich on 8/20/23

Great line up. I was there to see Milky Chance and they were great. I would have liked them to play a little longer as Young the Giant was finished by 10:30 pm. Young the Giant was outstanding . Best live venue in the Bay Area by far.

    Class act! Awesome show

    by Bresev on 8/20/23

From beginning to end, this was a superb show. Rosa Lin opened, she has an incredible voice and didn’t disappoint. Milky Chance was an unexpected powerhouse, really great performance with super high energy, gave 199% effort in performance., outstanding. Young the Giant, what a band! I’ve waited 10 years to see my favorite band live and it was everything I’d hoped for and more. The production was perfect, lighting and stage were beautiful. The band, perfection! This was a beautiful evening at the Greek and will stay with me forever.

    Three great acts

    by Cockney Rebel on 8/20/23

From the opening act of Rosa Linn, to Milky Chance, and wrapping with YTG, this concert did not disappoint. The Greek is an awesome venue and each act was studio perfect. The crowd danced and sang throughout the evening.

    by buzz on 8/20/23

best of the summer so far, been to bottle rock and three other Greek theater performances this summer. YTG great band with full range of composition, so easy to get into the vibe and ride that from start to finish. The crowd was on que and transfixed, would drop everything to see them again

    SO GOOD

    by Maddie on 8/14/23

Young the Giant was better than expected, not that expectations were low but this concert was more of a nostalgia thing than anything! Now I want to listen to their new music and follow them more closely. They played new songs and classics and they seemed to have fun doing it which always makes for a fantastic performance

    Parking NIGHTMARE!

    by Bigwave wes on 8/14/23

Great venue to see a show at. Before the show, parking attendants in orange vest were everywhere directing traffic, and collecting money. After the show was over, so were the parking attendants....... wow. It took 45 minutes to leave the grass parking area of the venue. This is unreal and exceptionally poor management/oversight. I've been to shows all over the states and the world. The parking for this venue was THE worst I've ever experienced.

    Fantastic show start to finish

    by JRu on 8/14/23

Three acts at a great outdoor venue. Rosa Linn was a perfect start. She has songwriting chops and is on the rise. Milky Chance cranked it up with their songs that made you move. Young the Giant. Just wow. What a performance. Production was stellar and their music catalogue was well represented in their set and encores. YTG is a must see act.

    Amazing vibes and performances

    by KB on 8/14/23

Definitely worth it. The show sold out to an amazing crowd. The band killed it and sounded fantastic performing live. The visuals were stunning and everyone had a fun night.

    Underwhelming

    by Zoe on 8/13/23

The band appeared tired and lacked any showmanship or energy. After the opening band, YTG came off as anti-climactic. I love YTG, but the show was disappointing. Sameer’s voice was fantastic, however. So, that helped. Perhaps they were all very tired from previous shows.

    Kinda of a bad surprise

    by Mariana on 8/13/23

Milky Chance was absolutely phenomenal. Great energy - the crowd was singing, dancing, jumping. Unfortunately, Milky Chance only played for 45 min, that is when Young the Giant started. The beginning of the show was a bit boring but it got better towards the end - the show was toooo long to handle. Definetely not worth my money. They should've switched the bands - Milky Chance should be the second one and Yound the Giant should've opened the night

    Poor venue choice

    by Jmewn on 8/13/23

UBC Thunderbird arena was way too big for a smaller production like Milky and Young. The sound didn’t hit right, and way too much echo. Venue was a miss. Artists weren’t represented as well as they have been in the past (Milky at commodore in 2021 - 10/10 concert). Way too much empty space at the UBC arena, to the point where you could hear the chairs shake. Production needs to be grand to work in a venue like this.
