About

Vampire Weekend is a two-time Grammy-winning alternative rock band currently composed of frontman Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson. Emerging from the mid-aughts indie rock scene in New York City out of Columbia University, Vampire Weekend released their self-titled debut to immediate critical and commercial success in 2008, with the album debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and its breakout single “A-Punk” earning an RIAA platinum certification. The band’s 2010 follow-up Contra confirmed their ascent after debuting atop the Billboard 200, while the single “Cousins” became their first song to hit the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s 2013’s effort Modern Vampires of the City similarly topped the Billboard 200 and garnered the band’s first Grammy Award. 2019’s Father of the Bride became their third album to debut at No. 1, and the album’s high watermark came from lead single “Harmony Hall,” which reached a career-best No. 5 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The album netted the band its second Grammy, and Vampire Weekend’s 2019 North American tour saw the band perform some of their biggest shows to date, including Madison Square Garden in New York.

    AMAZING SHOW

    by JR33 on 10/5/19Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Vampire Weekend are one of the few bands that I can honestly say are way better live than their recordings. Incredible energy and talent. Had an awesome time. I used to hate the Hollywood Bowl but now I will only go using the shuttle bus service. Takes a lot of the frustration of LA traffic away and makes the shows that much more enjoyable. One thing that would be good however is an email regarding what you can and can't bring in. The bowl seems to have different rules for bottles and cans for different shows. That is my only complaint

    Such a good show

by B. on 10/5/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

I took my teenage son to see Vampire Weekend and we were both blown away. The music sounded amazing and it was a love fest with the crowd singing along. So much fun! I have seen them before and the changes they have made to the band are for the better.

    Nightmare getting to Hollywood Bowl

by BR on 10/5/19Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Took us 2 hours from the Westside leaving around 715pm on Wednesday. Hollywood & Highland area is a nightmare traffic situation making the Bowl almost inaccessible on a weeknight We saw about half of the set and of course enjoyed VW (what we saw)

    Great Night

by Friske on 10/5/19Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Vampire Weekend is my favorite band and they were absolutely amazing. They played all the hits in a 2.5 hour set that kept everyone at the Bowl on their feet. My 4 star rating would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the venue. The Hollywood Bowl is a beautiful amphitheater but it is large. I had great seats but exiting the venue was a mad house. There has to be a better way.

Spending a great night with the Vampires

by Skeeter on 10/4/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

At first, we liked but did not love the new album, but that quickly changed. And we decided we had to see them again. Vampire Weekend did not disappoint in anyway. The sound system the lights all complimented the bands impressive live presence! The sound, of the band was so alive, full of intensity. Each song felt as though the band had found a way to express its essence. Old tunes were effectively woven in throughout the show. Loved the cover at the end of show and it was fun they asked for fan favorites for the encore. My wife and I agreed, despite seeing some great shows this year, this was the best!

Vampire Weekend is even better live than on their records !!!! The effects were great, the setlist was perfect, and the band was clearly happy to be there! All in all a perfect show, 10/10.

    Fun Times at Bill Graham

by Magic721 on 10/4/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

Vampire Weekend put on a really good show. Their catalog is so extensive that it’s tough to play all the “favorites,” but they were able to play quite a few. I would say there were some songs that either ran a bit longer than the crowd would have liked or just weren’t in line with the mood of the crowd. But overall it was a good show and Ezra Koenig is a musical genius!

    SIMPLY AMAZING

by Roja on 10/4/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

27 songs, song requests, first time in the bay in 6 years. energy was live and they did not disappoint. new members of the band brought a whole other dimension to their live shows, making it entirely worth the price of admission.

    Amazing music ... meh venue

by Mrs. Meowcarthy on 10/4/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

This show was waaaaay too big to be in Bill Graham. It was packed (which is great) but so packed it was pretty uncomfortable. Being a short girl, I felt like I paid $60 to watch someone’s back. Even the surrounding walls were packed. The stairwells were packed. A larger venue would have been a better choice.

    VW is it

by J. V. on 10/4/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

Absolutely blown-away. They came out SO early (8:50ish) and didn't stop playing till 11 (curfew!). Played all the hits and more, even going so far as to ask audience members for song requests. They were so willing to give their fans all the music and more, and seemed genuinely happy to be performing for us. Not to mention they played all my personal favorite album-cuts that I was not expecting (Hannah Hunt, Ya Hey, Run, Diplomat's Son and more). Overall, one of the best I've been to, thank you VW!

    Vampire Weekend on a Tuesday

    by E. G. O’Riley on 10/4/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

Great set (got the setlist), beautiful venue, and killer crowd. The band noodled a little too much and the venue’s food was iffy, but everything else was bang on.

    Multi-generational appeal

by Songbird on 10/4/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

Overall, this concert was very enjoyable. I was rather impressed with how long Vampire Weekend played, with only a few "breaks" to talk here & there... I think they played for about 3 hours (!!!). It was nice to hear a good mix of their music, and it was a nice touch to let the audience pick the "encore" songs. The one bit of constructive criticism that I would provide would be to cut down on the long-ish solos. Of course it's nice to get a taste of the band members' individual musicality/talent, but there was almost a little overkill in that regard. I appreciated that I didn't really need "concert ear plugs" for the majority of the concert (aside from one song, during which I saw more than a few people plugging their ears, yikes). I was pleasantly surprised to be surrounded by a lot of people younger than me up by the stage, as I kinda thought that they were more popular with people of my generation. It was so great to see their appeal spanning multiple generations! Like I said, it was overall a very enjoyable concert experience!

    Vampire Inspired

by Chezmanspeedo on 10/1/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

Super fun show; everyone dancing and singing. The band sounded awesome; one the best sounding performances we've heard. This was concert 9 of 10 on our summer tour. Great mix of people really friendly and met folks from all over. Staff at WAMU are great and a very under rated venue.

    Vampire Weekend--Well Worth the Wait

    by Bobloblaw77 on 9/30/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

Vampire Weekend played an amazing and lengthy set, highlighting every one of their albums. My only complaint was that they could've played even more; otherwise, they sounded great, employed good banter, and blew the crowd away!

    VW Rocks Seattle

by Josey on 9/30/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

One of the best shows I had the pleasure to attend. They played for TWO hours. While they played almost all of their new album they mixed it up with old favorites. So much fun singing along with Walcott, Do You Wanna? and many others.
