About

Vampire Weekend is a two-time Grammy-winning alternative rock band currently composed of frontman Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson. Emerging from the mid-aughts indie rock scene in New York City out of Columbia University, Vampire Weekend released their self-titled debut to immediate critical and commercial success in 2008, with the album debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and its breakout single “A-Punk” earning an RIAA platinum certification. The band’s 2010 follow-up Contra confirmed their ascent after debuting atop the Billboard 200, while the single “Cousins” became their first song to hit the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s 2013’s effort Modern Vampires of the City similarly topped the Billboard 200 and garnered the band’s first Grammy Award. 2019’s Father of the Bride became their third album to debut at No. 1, and the album’s high watermark came from lead single “Harmony Hall,” which reached a career-best No. 5 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The album netted the band its second Grammy, and Vampire Weekend’s 2019 North American tour saw the band perform some of their biggest shows to date, including Madison Square Garden in New York.

    sooo much worth it

by Tina25Bean on 11/9/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

this was such an amazing concert. The band was incredible and the lights were very impressive! The men were extremely charismatic performers. The set list was a great mix of new and old songs, all of which seemed to greatly impress the audience, including myself. i would have paid $80+ on top of the $20 i paid to see this show. No joke, it was that amazing. i am so glad to have gone to this and i would recommend it to anyone.

by SantaCruzLiven on 11/9/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

Such a great show. They sound just like the album but BETTER. High energy! They played many new songs from their up and coming album. I can't until the new album comes out in January. Can't wait to see them again. Really great crowd too.

Vampire Weekend delivered at the Catalyst

by Claudster on 11/9/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

The Catalyst was a good venue to catch Vampire Weekend. Though I was disappointed they didn't play "The Kids Don't Stand a Chance", overall the performance was good, albeit short (total concert time was about 70 minutes). They played about six songs from their upcoming album and would see them in a small venue again. This band is not really equipped to deliver on anything larger than say, The Filmore because I think they need the intimacy with the audience to keep the show going.

    Vampire Weekend was awesome!

by Sisamarie on 11/9/09The Catalyst - Santa Cruz

Love their music and didn't know what to expect live. The Catalyst was the perfect small venue to see them and they were jumpin'. The energy between the band and the audience was the best! They played favorites and new stuff and we couldn't stop dancing. One of the funnest shows I've seen in awhile.

    Vampire Weekend was beyond amazing!

by Rolando79 on 11/8/09Town Hall Theatre - Lafayette

Wow. Four college guys from the University of Columbia came together to make some fantastic music in my hometown of Lafayette last night. Upon hearing that Vampire Weekend was coming to play at the Town Hall Theater, the world stopped for a second. I could not believe that such a big band would come to such an unorthodox location to play! I felt so blessed. Upon getting to the venue, I met my friends first in line, and we rushed to go to the front row. The freaking FRONT ROW of Vampire Weekend in a venue of less than 200! Does life get any sweeter? Ezra's voice is just unreal, and the rest of the band played so well and had so much energy that my friends and I had to get up and dance with the rest of the crowd! On top of that, Vampire Weekend played over half of their new album Contra! Holiday, White Sky, California English, and other new songs are even catchier and pleasing to the ear than their first album! That is what astounds me so much. My friends and I discussed how it would be impossible that Vampire Weekend could surpass their phenomenal debut album. Looks like we were wrong! I cannot wait to see them live again, and again, and again!
