About

Vampire Weekend is a two-time Grammy-winning alternative rock band currently composed of frontman Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson. Emerging from the mid-aughts indie rock scene in New York City out of Columbia University, Vampire Weekend released their self-titled debut to immediate critical and commercial success in 2008, with the album debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and its breakout single “A-Punk” earning an RIAA platinum certification. The band’s 2010 follow-up Contra confirmed their ascent after debuting atop the Billboard 200, while the single “Cousins” became their first song to hit the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s 2013’s effort Modern Vampires of the City similarly topped the Billboard 200 and garnered the band’s first Grammy Award. 2019’s Father of the Bride became their third album to debut at No. 1, and the album’s high watermark came from lead single “Harmony Hall,” which reached a career-best No. 5 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The album netted the band its second Grammy, and Vampire Weekend’s 2019 North American tour saw the band perform some of their biggest shows to date, including Madison Square Garden in New York.

    Fantastic Show

    by S. O. on 9/30/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

The opening band for Vampire Weekend was Soccer Mommy. Weird name, but great, mellow music. When VW came on, they were great! So much fun and energetic. They played a lot of their older songs and quite a few from Father of the Bride. They played an awesome cover of Paul Simon's Late in the Evening and during the encore took a couple of requests from the audience. They interacted really well with the crowd. The only thung I did not enjoy was the harsh strobe lights during one song where they were just jammin'. I couldn't enjoy the music because the lights hurt my eyes so much. Other than that, I would definitely see them again.

    Talent, talent and more talent

    by v. Y. on 9/30/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

One hit after another, a great evening of VW music. Incredible live experience with some extended jams of the studio versions. Sunflower rocked. The Paul Simon cover was very cool. VW are truly a tight and unbelievably talented group of musicians. Can't wait to see them again. WAMU Theater was a good venue for the show. Good acoustics and little wait times fro all amenities.

    Overwhelmed

by Keelyn on 9/30/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

We drove 8 hours from boise to see this concert and were so excited to see them. We got there shortly after doors opened and stood on the floor. Maybe 20 feet from the stage. Over the next two hours it got so hot and miserable that by the time vampire weekend actually got on stage I was close to loosing losing consciousness. I have never been more disappointed at a concert. The sound was also mixed in a very weird way which made it so all we could hear was the people singing around us.

Best live show I’ve ever listened to.

by StarMonkey on 9/30/19WAMU Theater - Seattle

Vampire weekend was on point the entire night. They played a variety of old and new and I can honestly say that this most definitely the best live show that I’ve ever been to. It was on par with album recordings.

Here comes a feeling you thought you'd forgotten

    by lserver362 on 9/11/19MTELUS - Montreal

I've waited 9 years to see this band. They did not disappoint. The shift into being more of a jam band is a little odd but the it made the live experience that much better. Taking requests, interacting with audience members, and bringing high energy were all ways VW showed they loved us as much as we loved them. Their set was long and covered their entire discography. I haven't been that sweaty at a show in a while, or remain as hoarse, even though it's been three days. I have so many memories attached to their songs so getting to see them at this point was just an absolute blast.

    Great Show!

    by M. on 9/10/19Agganis Arena - Boston

Vampire Weekend was awesome. I’d see them again live if they played two nights. They took requests and performed every song. They also performed older songs and new ones.

    Best 3 hour concert EVER

by SE Fan on 9/10/19Madison Square Garden - New York

Got there an hour after the doors opened, and I was still able to get the merch (in my size!!) that VW posted on their Instagram. The opening acts were really good and knew how to hype up a crowd. Even my seats weren’t facing the band, there were huge screens set up so I could have a better view of Ezra and everyone else. They played 32 songs, the only downside was that most of them were slower songs. But the upside is that VW played a lot of my favorites, and a lot of songs from their older albums. Even though MSG is a huge arena, it still felt like a personal and intimate concert!

    Definitely not My Mistake

by Emily on 9/9/19Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Great show overall, I thought the acoustics could have been better or at least it could’ve been louder in the section I sat in. Tbh it was probably just because the women behind me wouldn’t shut up & ruined part of the experience. Gotta hate when that happens. Anyways, I still quite enjoyed. How Long until the next tour?

Phenomenal show! They truly appreciate their fans

by J. on 9/9/19Madison Square Garden - New York

Over the past 15 or so years I've been to plenty of big name shows at MSG, and this concert was the best I've ever attended at that historical venue. 30+ songs played, including crowd requests! VW are a wonderful, incredibly talented band, and it was an unforgettable treat to witness them at their peak.

    one for the fans

by Sue B on 9/9/19Madison Square Garden - New York

The Vampire Weekend show at MSG was one for the fans. Played for over 2 1/2 hours. Covered all the favorites; nothing seemed to be left "unplayed". Back up musicians were great and gave the performance it's energy. On the disappointing side, the guest vocalists that were brought up on stage, Steve Lacy and Angelique Kidjo, were completely under utilized.

    Absolutely incredible

by JF182 on 9/9/19Madison Square Garden - New York

I had an amazing time. They played for 3 hours straight, with a total of 32 songs on their set list. I’ve never heard of a band doing anything like that before. Acoustically everything sounded incredible, and the energy in the room was electric. My favorite part was the LED bracelets that were synchronized to light up/change colors depending on the song. It made everyone in the room feel connected in a really cool way. It’s a night I will remember for the rest of my life.
