Mama's Daughters was an excellent stageplay. The storyline was fresh yet familiar. The cast was absolutely phenomenal and the singing was incredible. Moreover the message was important. I would definitely see it again and encourage others as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Mama''s Daughters"play. The singing/acting was phenomenal!!
The play was amazing!! I hope they bring it back again.
Arrived with excitement and departed very disappointed. Doors opened late, show started even later. Many technical difficulties. Audio was horrible, could barely hear the cast. Seemed there was no test or pre-show setting. Couldn't follow the storyline possibly due to the audio situation. Overall this was a very poor production and I feel cheated to have spent the amount of money for such an event. Certainly would not recommend anyone waste your hard earned money to witness this fiasco. This was a huge black eye to the "Black Academy of Arts and Letters"Again, very disappointing!
Terrible show! Worst I have ever experienced. 2:00 pm performance started over an hour late, intermission was supposed to be 15 minutes and was over 45 minutes. We missed the 2nd half because we had 5:30 dinner reservations. Acting was just mediocre.
I really enjoyed the performance of the kids at the Stevie Musical. The talent was outstanding. These kids performed well beyond their years!!! I was only able to attend due to some discounted tickets being offered. I would have paid full price for this performance if I could have. What a blessing to offer culture to those of us who would not experience it otherwise.
Excellent Student Performance! Loved the singing and dancing.
The show was absolutely fantastic... loved every monute of it. Stevie wonders ribbon in the sky is still stuck in my head... my man shined up there big time... they need to take it on the road
Amazing Amazing simply Amazing. I would have paid 50 dollars a ticket to see those children perform. They were true to their craft. Excellent performances!!!
Legendary, unparalleled and overjoyed to have witnessed jazz aplomb and greatness from this 72 year young charismatic and gifted sensation with her all- female top notch pianist, upright bassist and drummer. All of it was extraordinary! Thank you TBAAL and Dallas Symphony~
I had a wonderful time watching The Satin Dolls perform in a nice, intimate setting.
This was an interesting event but TBAAL needs to do better about time management. This is NOT the first production to start well after the posted start time.
This was my first time at the Black Academy of Arts & Letters and I was pleasantly surprised. The Clarence Muse theater was a nice space for a smaller event. I absolutely loved the artist “Elaine Sings Aretha”, she was AMAZING! And the sound quality in the room was great for it to be an older theater.
Albion Josiah gave a fantastic show. The only down side was the room was too small for comfort.
The AMAZING vocal talents of Mr. Albion Josiah were on full display! Every song sung was a fresh, original arrangement…”Summertime”, “Ava Maria”, “Strange Fruit (with haunting references to George Floyd, etc.) “Made Me Do For Love What I Would Not Do, etc. Mr. Josiah can hit and carry the highest notes!!!! NEVER MISS THE CHANCE TO HEAR HIM SING!!!!!!! Plus he’s such an incredibly nice person to talk to!!!!
I had not known about the performance until I saw the announcement on a dance group board. I thought it was wonderful. I loved the energy of the performers and the crowd. I was confused on where to enter the venue. There were two events going on regarding dance near that area, and I initially went to the wrong location. Other than just having the door light on, some sort of A frame on the corner, or someone placed at the intersection to direct people would have been helpful. The program was a bit confusing as I thought the student's piece was part of the Atlanta group, and it was the third item in the program, but was the second in the performance. Also, I would have liked to have known that we were doing a giving /blessing at the end of the performance. I would have gladly given something, had I known it was going to happen. As I am not familiar with your culture I didn't know what expect. I only know in my country that giving/ blessings are given at the beginning of the performance, not at the end. I loved the performances, and would love to attend next year.
Reality...Of how & why one, encounter into.the life style of their life
I attended the Confession of A Hoe performance and it was great.
Event Venue was great: intimate great sound. From the reception entrance throughout the performance a very positive experience. The artist/performer Rick James really connects to the crowd and had the audience singing along. Very relaxing environment with great music.
